Expression of hepatitis B virus surface antigen in 120 Hodgkin's lymphoma patients

Background and Objective: Little is known about the incidence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in Hodgkin's lymphoma patients. This study was to evaluate the impact of HBV infection on the survival of Hodgkin's lymphoma patient. Methods: Clinical data of 120 Hodgkin's lymphoma patients treated at the sun yat-sen university Cancer Center between January 2004 and October 2007 were collected. The impact of prognostic factors including HBV infection on survival was examined by univariate and multivariate analyses. A log-rank test was used for univariate analysis and the Cox proportional hazards regression model was used for multivariate analysis. Results: Of the 120 patients, 18 (15.0%) were hepatitis B virus surface antigen (HBsAg)-positive. The HBsAg-positive patients had lower 5-year survival rate than did the HBsAg-negative ones (66.9% vs. 91.3%, P = 0.006). When the patients were divided into early-stage (Ⅰ+Ⅱ) and advanced-stage (Ⅲ+Ⅳ) groups, the 5-year survival rate was significantly different between the HBsAg-positive and -negative patients in early-stage group (64.8% vs. 96.0%, P < 0.001), while not significantly different in advanced-stage group (75.0% vs. 84.8%, P=0.667). Both univariate and multivariate analyses showed that radiotherapy and HBV infection were independent prognosis factors for the patients with early-stage Hodgkin's lymphoma (P=0.006 and 0.014, respectively). Conclusions: The incidence of HBV infection is similar between Hodgkin's lymphoma patients and normal population. HBV infection is an independent prognosis factor for survival in the patients with early-stage Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Features and dynamic mechanisms of Cenozoic tectonic migration and its impact on the hydrocarbon accumulation in the northern South China Sea

The northern continental margin of the South China Sea （SCS） is located within the tectonic system of Southeast Asia, an area with a great deal of tectonic migration due to the regional tectonic movements. The available geological and geophysical data of the area are comprehensively analyzed in order to demonstrate the typical migration patterns of the Cenozoic tectonics in the northern SCS caused by the episodes of the Cenozoic tectonic movement. Furthermore, the lateral variation characteristics of the strata and the differ- ent evolution patterns of the main basins＇ features are assessed. It primarily focus on：（1） the Cenozoic epi- sodic rifting from north to south in the continental margin of the northern SCS; （2） the rifting and depression time of the main basins progressively become younger as one goes from north to south, signifying that the migration of both the tectonics and the sediments within the northern SCS travelled from north to south during the Cenozoic; and （3） the lateral tectonic migration on the direction of EW is not regular in total, but in some local areas the trending of the tectonic migration is from west to east. The analysis of the tectonic migration features of the northern SCS, in combination with the regional tectonic evolution background, indicates that the observed remote lagging effect, resulted from the India-Eurasia plate collision, is the main dynamic mechanism involved in the tectonic migration within the northern SCS. The tectonic migration has significant influence on both the organization of petroleum deposits and on the hydrocarbon accumulation within the basins in the northern SCS; comprehensive understanding of this dynamic system is of great reference value in predicting the hydrocarbon accumulation and has the potential to have an enormous impact in discovering new deep reservoirs for the future oil-gas exploration.

DNA methylation is one important epigenetic type to play a vital role in many diseases including *** the development of the high-throughput sequencing technology,there is much progress to disclose the relations of DNA methylation with ***,the analyses of DNA methylation data are challenging due to the missing values caused by the limitations of current *** many methods have been developed to impute the missing values,these methods are mostly based on the correlations between individual samples,and thus are limited for the abnormal samples in *** this study,we present a novel transfer learning based neural network to impute missing DNA methylation data,namely the TDimpute-DNAmeth *** method learns common relations between DNA methylation from pan-cancer samples,and then fine-tunes the learned relations over each specific cancer type for imputing the missing *** on 16 cancer datasets,our method was shown to outperform other commonly-used *** analyses indicated that DNA methylation is related to cancer survival and thus can be used as a biomarker of cancer prognosis.

Background and Aims:Long non-coding RNA small nucleolar RNA host genes(SNHGs)play a critical role in the occurrence and development of *** this study,we aimed to investigate the role of SNHG4 in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and its underlining ***:datasets were acquired from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)*** 2.0 was used to identify the distribution of SNHG4 in HCC *** expression,Kaplan-Meier survival,microRNA and transcription factor target analyses were performed with the university of Alabama Cancer(UALCAN)database,Kaplan-Meier Plotter,LinkedOmics,WebGestalt and gene set enrichment analysis,*** Ontology and pathway enrichment analyses and assessment of RNA binding proteins were performed by R software,circlncRNAnet and Encyclopedia of RNA Interactomes(EN-CORI).In addition,CirclncRNAnet and ENCORI were used to find the correlation between SNHG4 and important proteins,while the prognostic value was assessed with the Human Protein Atlas database and Kaplan-Meier ***:Expression of SNHG4 in HCC is higher in HCC tissue than in normal healthy liver tissues and is mainly distributed in the ***4 positively correlated with poor prognosis(panalysis revealed SNHG4 involve-ment with regulation of ribosomal RNA synthesis and the RNA processing and surveillance ***4 is closely associated with miR-154 and miR-206,transcription factor target E2F family and the signaling pathway for MAPK/ERK and mTOR.U2 auxiliary factor 2(U2AF2)showed strong correlation with SNHG4,while low-expression of U2AF2 showed good ***:Based on our find-ings,we infer SNHG4 may play a role in the formation of HCC via regulation of tumor-related pathways.

Assessing CMIP6 simulations of Arctic sea ice drift:Role of near-surface wind and surface ocean current in model performance

Sea ice drift is a critical parameter for understanding the rapid changes in Arctic sea *** the release of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6(CMIP6),there has been a lack of quantitative analysis regarding CMIP6's simulation of Arctic sea ice *** study aims to assess the simulated Arctic sea ice drift from 1979 to 2014 by fifteen CMIP6 models against recent satellite retrievals,utilizing various quantitative ***,the influence of near-surface wind and surface ocean current on model performance is further *** CMIP6 models capture several aspects of the observed Arctic sea ice drift climatology and *** seasonal patterns of sea ice drift speed in all models exhibit similarities with the observed data,and the models agree with the evaluation datasets,indicating that the seasonal evolution of sea ice drift corresponds to near-surface wind ***,notable discrepancies are *** models overestimate sea ice drift speed,exceeding the observational data by 36%e97%.Fourteen out of fifteen models display larger seasonal variability(ranging from 0.74 to 1.28 km d^(-1))compared to the observed data(0.54 km d^(-1)).Seven out of fifteen models exhibit a significant increasing trend in annual sea ice drift speed,similar to the observed trend of 0.58 km d^(-1) per decade,but with weaker trends(ranging from 0.11 to 0.33 km d^(-1) per decade).The remaining eight models reveal no statistically significant *** potential causes of such biases were further explored in this *** suggests that the overestimation of sea ice drift speed in the models might be primarily attributed to the overestimation of near-surface wind speeds and their influence on sea ice drift *** models'overestimation of seasonal variability in near-surface wind speeds may account for the overestimation of seasonal variability in sea ice *** models'inability to represent the trend in sea ice drift speed may result fr

Background:The tumor microenvironment plays an essential role in the therapeutic response to *** is necessary to identify immune cell infiltration(ICI)subtypes for evaluating prognosis and therapeutic *** study aimed to evaluate the ICI score as an effective prognostic biomarker for immune ***:The cell-type identification by estimating relative subsets of RNA transcripts and the estimation of stromal and immune cells in malignant tumors using expression methods were used to analyse ICI landscapes in 161 colorectal cancer(CRC)samples with patients’clinical and prognostic data,RNA sequencing data,and whole-exome sequencing data from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital,sun yat-sen university(Guangzhou,China).Statistical analysis and data processing were conducted to calculate ICI scores,and to analyse the prognosis of CRC patients with different ICI scores and other features.A similar analysis with RNA sequencing and clinical data of colon adenocarcinoma(COAD)samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database was conducted to confirm the correctness of the ***:The high-ICI score group with a better prognosis(hazard ratio[HR],2.19;95%confidence interval[CI],1.03–4.64;logrank test,P=0.036)was characterized by the increased tumor mutational burden and interleukin-17(IL-17)signaling *** differences in the prognosis and the expression levels of immune checkpoints and chemokine marker genes were found between the two ICI score *** COAD samples from TCGA,the results also showed a significant difference in patients’prognosis between the two ICI score groups(HR,1.72;95%CI,1.00–2.96;log-rank test,P=0.047).Conclusions:Tumor heterogeneity induced differences in identifying ICI subtypes of CRC *** ICI score may serve as an effective biomarker for predicting prognosis,help identify new therapeutic markers for CRC,and develop novel effective immune checkpoint blockade therapies.
