Application of the HELP Model for Landfill Design in Arid Areas: Case Study Babylon Governorate, Iraq

The landfill design is necessary to be implemented in various regions to protect public human health and the factors of environment. The suggested design of landfill was performed in the arid areas, where that Babylon Governorate, Iraq was selected as a case study. Babylon Governorate is located in the middle of Iraq. The suggested design for the selected sites for landfill in the arid areas was consisted of the base liner and final cover systems. The HELP 3.95D model was applied on both systems to check if there is any leakage by leachate from the suggested soil layers of landfill base on the water balance in Babylon Governorate for the years 2005-2016. The suggested design of final cover system was implemented based on weather parameters in the arid areas through storing water that coming from the surface within upper layers that have fine particles and over the top barrier without leakage into the waste body, thereby preventing leachate generation. This is allowing to the stored water to evaporate from the surface of soil or transpire through vegetation due to the high temperature during the most months in the study area. The results showed there was no percolation of leachate through the base liner system. The design of final cover system was acted to reduce the runoff on the surface and increase the actual evaporation.

Uncovering the influence of ChatGPT's prompts on traffic safety information using text mining approach

ChatGPT has emerged as a promising advanced large language model that needs prompt to gain ***,designing a good prompt is not an easy task for many ***,this study intends to determine the amount of information gained because of varied amounts of information in the *** study used two types of prompts,initial and improved,to query the introduction sections of 327 highly cited articles on traffic *** queried introduction sections were then matched with the corresponding human-written introduction sections from the same *** tests and text network analysis were used to understand the level of similarities and the content of ChatGPT-generated and human-written *** findings indicate the improved prompts,which have the addition of generic persona and information about the citations and references,changed the ChatGPT's output *** the perfect similar contents are supposed to have a 1.0 similarity score,the initial and improved prompt's introduction materials have average similarity scores of 0.5387 and 0.5567,***,the content analysis revealed that themes such as statistics,trends,safety measures,and safety technologies are more likely to have high similarity scores,irrespective of the amount of information provided in the *** the other hand,themes such as human behavior,policy and regulations,public perception,and emerging technologies require a detailed level of information in their prompt to produce materials that are close to human-written *** prompt engineers can use the findings to evaluate their outputs and improve their prompting skills.

陆面过程模式是气候模式和天气模式的核心组成部分之一.在土壤—植被—大气耦合模式(Soil-PlantAtmosphere Model,SPAM)的基础上,发展了新一代北京大学陆面过程模式PKULM(Peking University Land Model).本文首先介绍了PKULM的辐射传输、湍流输送、光合作用、土壤水热输送等过程的参数化方案;采用隐式迭代计算框架,发展并应用了一个快速的线性方程组求解算法,提高了模式计算稳定性;提出并使用了二分搜索算法计算气孔阻抗,避免了CLM(Community Land Model)等使用的迭代方法在干旱区不稳定的情况,提高了模式的适用性;采用水势为基础的土壤水分扩散方程,使模式能够模拟土壤饱和区的水分输送过程,为进一步与水文过程模式耦合奠定了基础;还发展了一个地表积水与径流过程的机理模型,提高了模式对地表水分平衡过程的模拟能力;最后,使用"中国西北干旱区陆—气相互作用观测试验"平凉站的资料对模式进行了检验并与NOAH(National Center for environmental Prediction,Oregon State University,Air Force,and Hydrology Lab model)陆面过程模式的模拟结果进行了比较,结果表明PKULM能够较好地模拟西北半干旱区农田下垫面地气交换过程.

大学生是引领未来社会发展的重要力量,大学阶段是学生领导力培养的黄金时期。大学生领导力教育研究对把控我国大学生领导力培养方向,前瞻性开发与储备领导人才战略性资源具有重要意义。在认知领导力概念和大学生领导力内涵的基础上,通过对中美两国大学生领导力教育与培养理论与实践的比较研究,客观分析了美国在大学生领导力培养方面取得的成果及值得借鉴的经验。根据美国大学生领导力教育和培养的启示,结合中国高等教育实际,提出了将大学生领导力教育纳入国家人才培养战略、高校制定可行的大学生领导力培养发展计划、整合社会资源拓展大学生领导力培养实践渠道等适合中国新时期大学生领导力培养的策略。

The objective of this research project was fulfilled through creation of a contemporary home,that of which undeniably projects modernization due to key LEED(leadership in energy and environmental design)*** of this project was carefully supervised by the civil engineering department at California State University,*** design incorporates a 3-story single-family home with a steel *** design properties had a positive impact in LEED specific adjustments which assisted with the overall increase in *** six civil engineering senior students were able to successfully create a cost analysis and compare the benefits of a LEED incorporated design as opposed to a standard residential *** difference between the two is evident as the highly sustainable building resulted in a 7.6%increase in overall ***,as the savings in energy progress over a 9-year period,the home will inevitably reduce the overall cost to the *** research project aided in allowing this diverse team of students to be exposed to real life scenarios,with incorporation of their knowledge acquired from the past 4 *** diversity and teamwork of this group allowed for equal opportunities of innovation and *** such as proper communication and critical thinking will significantly impact them as they progress in their careers as civil engineers.

Springtime Monitoring of Passive Cool Roofs in Subtropical Climate

Passive strategies for acclimatization of buildings have been studied by several authors in many countries, especially the evaporative and radiant cooling techniques. Fiber cement tiles are very common in popular constructions due to their low cost. However, they have over twice of the value thermal transmittance indicated to this bioclimatic zone according to Brazilian guidelines. The objective is to present an alternative to reduce high temperatures on fiber cement tiles. In this paper, the monitoring of passive cooling of roofing during the spring season in a city with subtropical climate is described. Single and combined reflective and evaporative cooling systems were studied in different environmental conditions. Internal surface temperatures of tiles were monitored together with weather variables. Results show a decrease of about 6 ℃, 9 ℃, 10 ℃ and 11 ℃ as compared to the original tiles according to environment conditions and the combined passive cooling techniques. These results allow for the conclusion that the use of passive cooling techniques opens up new possibilities to attenuate the internal surface temperatures of tiles and to consequently decrease the roofing solar heat gain into buildings, thus, providing less air cooling energy consumption.

目前针对基坑开挖诱发隧道横向结构变形的解析理论研究，一般将隧道衬砌视为无接头存在的整环或将衬砌接头刚度取为定值，较少考虑衬砌接头非线性特性带来的影响。基于衬砌接头抗弯刚度非线性计算模型，采用状态空间法对衬砌接头刚度进行迭代求解，探究了基坑开挖影响下衬砌接头非线性作用对隧道横向内力及变形的影响。首先，基于Mindlin应力解求得考虑环间剪切力作用的基坑开挖在隧道衬砌周围产生的附加荷载；接着，将隧道衬砌接头简化为由螺栓、核心混凝土、内部及外部填充混凝土四部分组成的模型，考虑“矩形-抛物线”混凝土应力应变关系，得到“接头分离前-接头分离后填充混凝土未接触-填充混凝土接触”三阶段状态的衬砌接头抗弯刚度非线性变化关系；然后，基于状态空间法得到衬砌接头、管片段及整环的内力位移传递关系，求解出考虑衬砌接头非线性影响的基坑开挖作用下隧道横向内力及变形。最后，采用工程监测数据及模型试验结果与本文理论解进行对比验证。此外，针对基坑开挖尺寸(开挖长度、深度)和衬砌接头相关参数(螺栓等级、衬砌厚度)进行了影响因素分析。分析结果表明，随着开挖尺寸的增加，其对拱顶、拱腰附加弯矩的影响小于拱底，对拱肩附加剪力的影响小于拱脚；开挖深度变化对衬砌变形影响增大，而开挖长度变化对衬砌变形影响减小。随着螺栓等级和衬砌厚度减小，其对拱顶、拱腰附加弯矩的影响大于拱底，对拱肩附加剪力的影响大于拱脚，对衬砌变形的影响增大。接头受力位于不同阶段对衬砌附加轴力影响较小。

In this paper, a new approach for key frame extraction for sports video summarization is presented. Our approach employs dominant value of shot volume and energy. For the dominant value of each shot audio energy corresponding video key frame is extracted. This key frame of each shot serves as accurate localization of the events on the field. This is applied to cricket, soccer and lawn tennis videos and the experimental results show our proposed method is promising.
