The seek of bioactive materials for promoting bone regeneration is a challenging and longterm *** with inorganic metal ions or drug molecules is considered effective strategies to improve the bioactivity of various existing ***,amorphous calcium magnesium phosphate(ACMP)nanoparticles and simvastatin(SIM)-loaded ACMP(ACMP/SIM)nanocomposites were developed via a simple co-precipitation *** physiochemical property of ACMP/SIM was explored using transmission electron microscope(TEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),powder X-ray diffraction(XRD)and highperformance liquid chromatograph(HPLC),and the role of Mg^(2+) in the formation of ACMP/SIM was revealed using X-ray absorption near-edge structure(XANES).After that,the transformation process of ACMP/SIM in simulated body fluid(SBF)was also tracked to simulate and explore the in vivo mineralization performance of *** find that ACMP/SIM releases ions of Ca^(2+),Mg^(2+)and PO_(4)^(3),when it is immersed in SBF at 37℃,and a phase transformation occurred during which the initially amorphous ACMP turns into self-assembled hydroxyapatite(HAP).Furthermore,ACMP/SIM displays high cytocompatibility and promotes the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of MC3T3-E1 *** the in vivo studies,lamellar ACMP/SIM/Collagen scaffolds with aligned pore structures were prepared and used to repair a rat defect model in ***/SIM/Collagen scaffolds show a positive effect in promoting the regeneration of calvaria defect after *** bioactive ACMP/SIM nanocomposites are promising as bone repair *** the facile preparation process and superior in vitro/vivo bioactivity,the as-prepared ACMP/SIM would be a potential candidate for bone related biomedical applications.

Simulating the impacts of fishing on central and eastern tropical Pacific ecosystem using multispecies size-spectrum model

The size-spectrum model has been considered a useful tool for understanding the structures of marine ecosystems and examining management implications for *** on Chinese tuna longline observer data from the central and eastern tropical Pacific Ocean and published data,we developed and calibrated a multispecies size-spectrum model of twenty common and commercially important species in this *** then use the model to project the status of the species from 2016 to 2050 under five constant-fishing-mortality management scenarios:(1)F=0;(2)F=F_(recent),the average fishing mortality from 2013 to 2015;(3)F=0.5F_(recent);(4)F=2F_(recent) and(5)F=3F_(recent).Several ecological indicators were used to track the dynamics of the community structure under different levels of fishing,including the mean body weight,slope of community size spectra(Slope),and total *** validation demonstrated that size-at-age data of nine main catch species between our model predictions and those empirical data from assessments by the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission matched well,with the R^(2)>*** direct effect of fishing was the decreasing abundance of large-sized *** mean body weight in the community decreased by~1500 g(21%)by 2050 when F doubled from F_(recent) to 2F_(recent).The higher the fishing mortality,the steeper the Slope *** projection also indicated that fishing impacts reflected by the total biomass did not increase proportionally with the increasing fishing *** biomass of the main target tuna species was still abundant over the projection period under the recent fishing mortality,except Albacore tuna(Thunnus alalunga).For sharks and billfishes,their biomass remained at relatively higher levels only under the F=0 *** results can serve as a scientific reference for alternative management strategies in the tropical Pacific Ocean.

Air exploratory discussion of an ancient Chinese algorithm, the Ying Buzu Shu, in about 2nd century BC, known as the rule of double false position in the West is given. In addition to pointing out that the rule of double false position is actually a translation version of the ancient Chinese algorithm, a comparison with well-known Newton iteration method is also made. If derivative is introduced, the ancient Chinese algorithm reduces to the Newton method. A modification of the ancient Chinese algorithm is also proposed, and some of applications to nonlinear oscillators are illustrated.

Beam signals captured from a button-type pickup contain multidimensional information including the bunch charge,transverse position,bunch length,and longitudinal phase.A bunch phase monitor,which retrieves longitudinal phase information from a pickup signal at a bunch-by-bunch rate,has been developed at the shanghai Synchrotron Radiation *** paper introduces the basic principles,system setup,data processing method,and preliminary experimental results of this *** systematic measurement error introduced by the limited system bandwidth,bunch length,and bunch charge variation was studied using simulation *** random measurement uncertainty was evaluated using experimental beam *** experimental result shows that the longitudinal phase resolution of this system is better than 1.0 *** first application,measuring the relationship between the longitudinal phase and bunch charge to determine the energy loss factor,was implemented,and the preliminary result is also discussed.

Reproductive biology is a uniquely important topic since it is about germ cells, which are central for transmitting genetic information from generation to generation. In this review, we discuss recent advances in mammalian germ cell development,including preimplantation development, fetal germ cell development and postnatal development of oocytes and sperm. We also discuss the etiologies of female and male infertility and describe the emerging technologies for studying reproductive biology such as gene editing and single-cell technologies.

Silica nanoparticle with a single His-tag for addressable functionalization, reversible assembly, and recycling

For many biomedical and catalytic applications, such as encapsulation of proteins/enzymes in nanopartides （NPs）, it is preferable to have well-dispersed small NPs that are stable in solution and behave quasi-homogeneously. However, conventional liquid phase methods for small-NP synthesis and functionalization usually face great difficulties in separation/purification and recycling. In addition, controlling the orientation of proteins inside NPs is also a crucial issue to maximize the activity of the encapsulated proteins. Herein, we report a solid phase method to solve these problems. Using His-tagged proteins as cores, well-dispersed core-sheU silica NPs are facilely synthesized and functionalized in a column. The core His-tagged proteins are kept bound on the surface of the resIn beads in the column during the entire process, making the separation/purification of NPs and their precursors during the multiple-step process as simple as a few-minutes procedure of draining and washing the column. Each obtained silica NP has an adjustable eccentric core-shell structure with only one His-tag sticking out of the particle. This single His-tag on the surface of each NP not only makes it easy for addressable and stoichiometric functionalization of the NP but also provides an easy way to reversibly assemble NPs into dimers or be oriented on the surface of large particles. Notably, this solid phase approach also provides a versatile means to control the orientation of proteins inside NPs, and the His-tag makes it easy to recycle those well-dispersed small NPs.

Transient receptor potential vanilloid 4-dependent calcium influx and ATP release in mouse and rat gastric epithelia

AIM: To explore the expression of transient receptor potential vanilloid 4(TRPV4) and its physiological meaning in mouse and rat gastric epithelia. METHODS: RT-PCR and immunochemistry were used to detect TRPV4 m RNA and protein expression in mouse stomach and a rat normal gastric epithelial cell line(RGE1-01), while Ca2+-imaging and electrophysiology were used to evaluate TRPV4 channel activity. ATP release was measured by a luciferin-luciferase assay. Gastric emptying was also compared between WT and TRPV4 knockout mice. RESULTS: TRPV4 m RNA and protein were detected in mouse tissues and RGE1-01 cells. A TRPV4-specific agonist(GSK1016790A) increased intracellular Ca2+ concentrations and/or evoked TRPV4-like current activities in WT mouse gastric epithelial cells andRGE1-01 cells, but not TRPV4 KO cells. GSK1016790 A or mechanical stimuli induced ATP release from RGE1-01 cells while TRPV4 knockout mice displayed delayed gastric emptying in vivo. CONCLUSION: TRPV4 is expressed in mouse and rat gastric epithelium and contributes to ATP release and gastric emptying.
