A new continuous-flow process for the enzymatic synthesis of optically pureγ-lactones,which are used as flavors and fragrances in the food and cosmetic industries,was developed in a three-dimensional microfluidic *** microchannels(175 mm in length,0.9 mm in depth,and 1.72 mL in volume)were carved precisely inside a single borosilicate glass(90 mm×75 mm×12 mm)with ultrafast femtosecond laser *** flow field analysis and reaction simulation showed that the mixing of substrates and enzymes was enhanced,allowing the adjustment of residence time in a wide ***_(V4),a carbonyl reductase with excellent catalytic activity and enantioselectivity towardγ/δ-keto acids,was employed for the asymmetric synthesis of various chiral lactones.30 mmol/L(R)-γ-decalactone(3g)can be obtained in 26 s with a space-time yield(STY)up to 16,877 g L^(-1)d^(-1),which is 14.4 times higher than the highest STY of batch reaction reported *** continuous-flow process was applied to the synthesis of 6 chiral *** addition,the scaled-up synthesis of 3g was carried out in 6 cascade microreactors continuously for 6 h,demonstrating the feasibility and stability of the 3D continuous-flow process in enzymatic synthesis of optically pure compounds.

Background Cardiovascular risk burden is associated with dementia risk and neurodegeneration-related brain structure,while the role of genetics and incident cardiovascular disease(CVD)remains *** To examine the association of overall cardiovascular risk burden with the risk of major dementia subtypes and volumes of related brain regions in a large sample,and to explore the role of genetics and CVD *** A prospective study among 354 654 participants free of CVD and dementia(2006-2010,mean age 56.4 years)was conducted within the UK Biobank,with brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRl)measurement availablefor 15104participants since *** risk burden was evaluated by the Framingham General Cardiovascular Risk Score(FGCRS).Dementia diagnosis was ascertained from inpatient and death register *** Overamedian 12.0-yearfollow-up,3998 all-cause dementia cases were *** FGCRS was associated with increasedall-cause dementia risk after adjusting for demographic,major lifestyle,clinical factors and the polygenic risk score(PRS)of Alzheimer's *** the high versus low tertile of FGCRS,the odds ratios(ORs)and 95%confidence intervals(Cls)were 1.26(1.12 to 1.41)for all-cause dementia,1.67(1.33 to 2.09)for Alzheimer's disease and 1.53(1.07 to 2.16)for vascular dementia(all p_(treng)<0.05).Incident stroke and coronary heart disease accounted for 14%(95%Cl:9% to 21%)of the association between FGCRS and all-cause *** were not detected for FGCRS and PRS on the risk of any dementia *** observed an 83%(95%Cl:47%to 128%)higher all-cause dementia risk comparing the high-high versus low-low FGCRS-PRS *** brain volumes,higher FGCRS was associated with greater log-transformed white matter hyperintensities,smaller cortical volume and smaller grey matter *** Our findings suggest that the positive association of cardiovascular risk burden with dementia risk also applies to major dementia subtypes.T

Neutrinos from core-collapse supernovae are essential for understanding neutrino physics and stellar ***-phase xenon dark matter detectors can be used to track explosions of galactic supernovae by detecting neutrinos through coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus *** this study,a variation of progenitor masses and explosion models are assumed to predict neutrino fluxes and spectra,which result in the number of expected neutrino events ranging from 6.6 to 13.7 at a distance of 10 kpc over a 10-s duration with negligible backgrounds at *** specialized triggering alarms for monitoring supernova burst neutrinos are *** efficiency of detecting supernova explosions at various distances in the Milky Way is *** alarms will be implemented in the real-time supernova monitoring system at PandaX-4T in the near future,which will provide supernova early warnings for the astronomical community.

Understanding the foraging behavior is essential for investigating seabird ecology and conservation,as well as monitoring the well-being of the marine *** seabirds adopt diverse foraging strategies to maximize energy gains and cope with the intensified challenges of parenting and *** tradeoff may stem from the heterogeneity of food resources and the constraints of central place ***,abundant marine productivity could alleviate the energy limitation for seabirds,resulting in a consistent foraging ***,we investigated the foraging strategy during the breeding season of a cryptic small-sized seabird,Swinhoe’s Storm-petrel(Hydrobates monorhis),in the Yellow Sea,a productive marginal sea of the Northwest *** GPS tracking,we evaluated habitat preference,quantified the foraging strategy,and tested if environmental conditions and individual traits influence foraging *** found that Swinhoe’s Storm-petrels preferred nearshore areas with shallow water and engaged in primarily short foraging *** southeastward and southwestward strategies emerged when combining trip metrics,including foraging direction,duration,and maximum *** bathymetry,proximity to the coastline,and sea surface temperature differed in two foraging *** strategies exhibited flexibility between individuals,potentially explained by wing morphology,in which longer-winged birds are more likely to embark on longer-distance foraging *** findings highlight the impact of environmental factors and individual traits on seabirds’foraging decisions in productive marginal sea *** study also provides valuable insights into the foraging ecology of this Asian endemic storm-petrel.

Silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs)are an effective antibacterial agent,but their application in food packaging is limited due to their easy agglomeration and *** this study,antibacterial microcapsules were fabricated using Ginkgo biloba essential oil(GBEO)as core material and chitosan and type B gelatin biopolymer as capsule *** antibacterial microcapsules were then modified with green-synthesized Ag NPs,blended into the bio-polymer polylactic acid(PLA),and finally formed as *** properties and antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli(***)and Staphylococcus aureus(***)were *** showed that the prepared antibacterial PLA films exhibited excellent antibacterial activity against foodborne *** TVC exceeded the limit value of 7 log CFU/g at 7 days compared with the 5 days of pure PLA ***,these films can extend the shelf life of grass carp fillets by 2–3 days under refrigeration.
