Past climate change and recent anthropogenic activities affect genetic structure and population demography of the greater longtailed hamster in northern China

The genetic diversity and the spatial structure of a species are likely consequences of both past and recent evolutionary processes,but relevant studies are still rare in East Asia where the Pleistocene climate has unique *** this study,we examined the impact of past climate change and recent anthropogenic activities on the genetic structure and population size of the greater long-tailed hamster(Tscherskia triton),an agricultural rodent pest species in northern *** sequence data of 2 mitochondrial genes and genotypic data of 11 microsatellite DNA loci from 41 populations(545 individuals)were *** and population genetic analyses,as well as species distribution modeling and coalescent simulations,were conducted to infer its historical and demographic patterns and *** deeply diverged mitochondrial clades were recovered.A small one was restricted to the shandong Peninsula while the main clade was further divided into 3 geographic clusters by their microsatellite DNA genotypes:Northwest,North-center and *** dating indicated a Middle-to-Late Pleistocene divergence between the 2 *** analysis indicated that all 3 and pooled populations showed consistent long-period expansions during last glacial period;but not during the Holocene,probably due to the impact of climate warming and human *** patterns between mtDNA and microsatellite markers imply an anthropogenic impact on North-center populations due to intensified agricultural cultivation in this *** study demonstrated that the impact of past glaciation on organisms in East Asia significantly differs from that of Europe and North America,and human activity is an important factor in determining the genetic diversity of a species,as well as its spatial structure.

Isolation and biological characteristics of aerobic marine magnetotactic bacterium YSC-1

Magnetotactic bacteria have become a hot spot of research in microbiology attracting inten-sive interest of researchers in multiple disciplinary fields. However, the studies were limited in few fas-tidious bacteria. The objective of this study aims at isolating new marine magnetic bacteria and better comprehension of magnetotactic bacteria. In this study, an aerobic magnetotactic bacterium YSC-1 was isolated from sediments in the Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass (YSCWM). In TEM, magnetic cells have one or several circular magnetosomes in diameter of 100nm, and consist of Fe and Co shown on energy dis-persive X-ray spectrum. The biological and physiological characteristics of this bacterium were also de-scribed. The colour of YSC-1 colony is white in small rod. The gram stain is negative. Results showed that Strain YSC-1 differs from microaerophile magnetotactic bacteria MS-1 and WD-1 in biology.

Study and application of Toxicity Test Method Using Neomysis awatschensis in Toxicity Evaluation of Drilling Fluid

Neomysis awatschensis was collected on the west coast of Jiaozhou Bay, Qingdao in 1992 and acclimated in the laboratory conditions. The acute toxicity method using 4~ 6 day juvenile mysid of this species is studied. The species is compared with M. bahia in taxonomy, geographic distribution, morphology, as well as the sensitivity to reference toxins. Based on the results, we recommend N. awatschensis to be a standard marine organism for toxicity test in China and the method to be applied in toxicity evaluation of drilling fluids. In this paper, we report the results of the above studies and the application of the method in the evaluation of several drilling fluid products.

This note addresses the problem of finite-time H∞ control for a class of extended Markovian jump *** stochastic process of given system is described by a Markovian chain, and the knowledge of transition jump rates is inaccurate. In this case, the theoretical results on finite-time boundedness, H∞ finite-time boundedness and finitetime H∞ state feedback stabilization, are developed, respectively. Then, the purpose is to design a finite-time H∞ state feedback controller so that the corresponding closed-loop system result to be finite-time boundedness. It is shown that the corresponding existence conditions are presented via a set of strict linear matrix inequalities. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed theoretical results.

Stochastic Differential Games with Reflection and Related Obstacle Problems for Isaacs Equations

In this paper we first investigate zero-sum two-player stochastic differential games with reflection, with the help of theory of Reflected Backward Stochastic Differential Equations （RBSDEs）. We will establish the dynamic programming principle for the upper and the lower value functions of this kind of stochastic differential games with reflection in a straightforward way. Then the upper and the lower value functions are proved to be the unique viscosity solutions to the associated upper and the lower Hamilton-Jacobi-Bettman-Isaacs equations with obstacles, respectively. The method differs significantly from those used for control problems with reflection, with new techniques developed of interest on its own. Further, we also prove a new estimate for RBSDEs being sharper than that in the paper of E1 Karoui, Kapoudjian, Pardoux, Peng and Quenez （1997）, which turns out to be very useful because it allows us to estimate the LP-distance of the solutions of two different RBSDEs by the p-th power of the distance of the initial values of the driving forward equations. We also show that the unique viscosity solution to the approximating Isaacs equation constructed by the penalization method converges to the viscosity solution of the Isaacs equation with obstacle.

Plastic pollution as a global environmental issue has become a research hotspot,among which the removal of inherent plasticizer(e.g.,phthalic acid esters,PAEs)received increasing ***,the effects of biochars derived from different feedstocks on the adsorption of PAEs are poorly ***,the characteristics of biochars derived from six largely produced biomass wastes in China at 400°C,as well as their performance in adsorption of diethyl phthalate(DEP),one of frequently detected PAEs in aqueous environment,were *** results indicated that the variation in feedstock type showed significant changes in the properties(e.g.,porosity,specific surface area,surface functional groups)of biochars,which affected DEP adsorption and *** order and Freundlich models fitted the adsorption data well,and adsorption mechanisms mainly included hydrophobic effect,followed by micropore filling,hydrogen bonding,andπ-πEDA *** thermodynamics revealed that the adsorption was a spontaneous and exothermic the adsorption capacities of DEP on these biochars slightly decreased with the increasing pH but increased with the increasing ionic *** these biochars,the giant reed biochar with relatively higher DEP adsorption and low desorption exhibited the great efficiency for DEP removal as an environment-friendly *** results highlighted the significant roles of micropore filling and hydrogen bond in determining adsorption capacity of designed biochars prepared from selecting suitable agricultural straws and wetland plant waste to typical *** findings are useful for producing designed biochars from different biomass wastes for plasticizer pollution control.

A triboelectric/electromagnetic hybrid generator for efficient wind energy collection and power supply for electronic devices

Harvesting energy from ambient environment has been considered as a promising strategy for driving portable electronic devices in a sustainable way. A wind driven triboelectric-electromagnetic hybrid nanogenerator has been fabricated to convert wind energy into electricity. It is composed of an electromagnetic generator(EMG) and a triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG) with the output power of 35 and 0.32 mW, respectively when the wind speed is 5 m/s. Generally, TENG shows a low current output with a high voltage output characteristic, on the contrary the EMG shows a high current output and a low voltage output. This hybrid nanogenerator overcomes these problems and exhibits comprehensive and efficient performance on scavenging ***, in view of the output performance and charging ability of the hybrid nanogenerator, it shows high stability, making it suitable for charging capacitors or batteries and driving portable electronics sustainably. A new structure of integrated TENG and EMG was designed to harvest wind energy, which shows potential applications in portable and small device power supply system, especially in the areas of remote mountains, deserts, islands, etc., as emergency power supply.
