OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects that inhalation of the combustion products of the traditional Chinese herb Aiye(Folium Artemisiae Argyi) has on the central nervous ***: Forty Kunming mice(half male) were randomly assigned(n = 10/group) to a control group(C) or one of three moxa smoke concentration groups(% opacity): low(L1; 0.4%), medium(M1; 2%), and high(H1; 15%). Mice in the latter three groups were exposed to moxa smoke in a dynamic gas exposure cabinet for 20 min per day for7 days. Mice in control group were placed in the same cabinet without any intervention. For the sleep experiments, another 50 mice were divided into five groups of 10 mice each: a saline-injected control group, L1 + pentobarbital sodium(PS)-injected group, M1+PS group, H1(15%)+PS group,and a positive control group(10 mg/kg, chlorpromazine, p.o.). The weight, general activities, locomotor activities, rotarod performance, sleep duration,and sleeping rate induced by a subthreshold dose of pentobarbital sodium were recorded in the mice,and the composition of moxa smoke was analyzed using headspace gas chromatography(GC-HS).RESULTS: A low concentration of smoke significantly decreased the frequency of locomotor activities and the time for which the mice remaining on the rotarod; however, a high smoke concentration significantly prolonged the pentobarbital-induced sleeping time and sleeping ***: The concentration-dependent relaxing effects of moxa smoke on the Central Nervous System(CNS) were confirmed. Moreover, GC-HS analysis showed that the component present in the highest concentration in moxa smoke was eucalyp-tol, an essential oil well recognized for its soothing effects on the CNS. This may therefore be accountable for the sedative effects of moxa smoke.

Hydrogen(H_(2))is a promising renewable energy which finds wide applications as the world gears toward low-carbon ***,current H_(2) production via steam methane reforming of natural gas or gasification of coal are laden with high CO_(2) ***,methane(CH_(4))pyrolysis has emerged as a potential technology to generate low-carbon H_(2) and solid *** this review,the current state-of-art and recent progress of H_(2) production from CH_(4) pyrolysis are reviewed in *** such as funda-mental mechanism and chemistry involved,effect of process parameters on the conversion efficiency and reaction kinetics for various reaction media and catalysts are elucidated and critically ***-ature,among other factors,plays the most critical influence on the methane pyrolysis *** metal/salt could lower the operating temperature of methane pyrolysis to1000℃.Based on the reaction kinetics,metal-based cata-lysts were more efficient in lowering the activation energy of the reaction to 29.5-88 kJ/mol from that of uncatalyzed reaction(147-420.7 kJ/mol).Besides,the current techno-economic performance of the pro-cess reveals that the levelized cost of H_(2) is directly influenced by the sales price of carbon(by-product)generated,which could offset the overall ***,the main challenges of reactor design for efficient product separation and retrieval,as well as catalyst deactivation/poisoning need to be debottlenecked.

Satellite retrievals of columnar nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))are essential for the characterization of nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))processes and *** requirements of modeled a priori profiles present an outstanding bottleneck in operational satellite NO_(2)*** this work,we instead use neural network(NN)models trained from over 360,000 radiative transfer(RT)simulations to translate satellite radiances across 390-495nm to total NO_(2)vertical column(NO_(2)C).Despite the wide variability of the many input parameters in the RT simulations,only a small number of key variables were found essential to the accurate prediction of NO_(2)C,including observing angles,surface reflectivity and altitude,and several key principal component scores of the *** addition to the NO_(2)C,the NN training and cross-validation experiments show that the wider retrieval window allows some information about the vertical distribution to be retrieved(e.g.,extending the rightmost wavelength from 465 to 495 nm decreases the root-mean-square-error by 0.75%)under high-NO_(2)C *** to four months of TROPOMI data,the trained NN model shows strong ability to reproduce the NO_(2)C observed by the ground-based Pandonia Global *** coefficient of determination(R2,0.75)and normalized mean bias(NMB,-33%)are competitive with the level 2 operational TROPOMI product(R^(2)=0:77,NMB=−29%)over clear(geometric cloud fraction<0:2)and polluted(NO_(2)C≥7:5×10^(15)molecules/cm2)*** NN retrieval approach is~12 times faster than predictions using high spatial resolution(~3 km)a priori profiles from chemical transport modeling,which is especially attractive to the handling of large volume satellite data.

Conjugated Linolenic Acid (CLN) has recently been shown to have a more strong cytotoxic effect on various human tumor cell lines than CLA. In CLN, all the three double bonds are conjugated, whereas they are methylene-interrupted in LN. Some seed oil, such as tung oil and pomegranate seed oil, principally consist of CLN, accounting for 76.5% and 75.5%, *** can be characterized using the combination of gas chromatography (GC), highperformance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and UV /VIS spectrophotomea-ic analysis. GC can separate the CLN from other fatty acids and HPLC can separate the individual CLN *** conjugated triene formation has a maximum absorbency at 268 nm and the conjugated diene formation has an absorbency at 235 nm in UV *** was prepared from linseed oil by isomerization reaction in our present study. By treating at was isomerized and the product was purified by recrystallizing in the methanol. The GC and UV /VIS spectrophotometric analysis were used to characterize the obtained products. It was found that the a-LN in the linseed oil was converted to the corresponding conjugated diene acids and CLN. The GC analysis also showed that there formed about 20% CLN when reacting for 10h with 40% KOH/ethylene glycol.

Gout is one of the most frequent type of inflammatory arthritis in developed countries. The elevation of serum uric acid levels and the deposition of monosodium urate crystals in joints and/or soft tissues are the mechanisms of pathogenesis. Uric acid is a product of the metabolic cleavage of purine nucleotides and organ meats, beef, pork, and lamb, anchovies, sardines, herring, mackerel, scallops, gravy and beer are known to be very rich in purine. On the other hand, some of these foods are also the main sources of vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin). As a chronic inflammatory arthritis corticosteroids are frequently prescribed for gout patients, meaning a higher risk for osteoporosis which may be blocked by daily calcium and vitamin D replacement. However, there are no recommendations about screening or replacement of Gout patients for vitamin D and B12. Herein, we evaluated our patients retrospectively to document their vitamin levels and also to find the factors associated with vitamin deficiency. Totally, 90 patients, 71 (79.9%) male and 19 (20.1%) female patients with a median diagnostic age of 55 (19 - 80) were included. Thirty six (40%) patients were newly diagnosed (group 1) but 54 (60%) patients had established diseases (group-2) with median disease duration of 36 (11-240) months. Nearly half (47.2%) of the patients in group-1 and 37% of the patients in group-2 had vitamin B 12 deficiency. Similarly, 38.9% in each group had vitamin D deficiency and 52.8% in group-1 and 44.4% in group-2 had vitamin D insufficiency. In conclusion, we strongly recommend routine screening and replacement of vitamin B12 and D for patients with Gout.

植物水分利用效率(water use efficiency,WUE)的“黄金时段”(golden hour,GH)指植物能够以较少的水分消耗生产较多干物质的时间段,而此时段的WUE相关性状被称为“黄金WUE”性状(GHW性状)。本研究中利用WUE模型推导发现试验材料菜豆(Phaseolus vulgaris L.)的冠层导度(蒸腾速率与饱和蒸气压差的比值)可用于反演光合速率,并通过常规低通量的冠层气体交换参数测量进行了验证。基于此,开发了基于“Plantarray”高通量生理表型系统解析菜豆不同品种GHW性状的方法。该方法以GHW时段的累积冠层导度(AccGHW)及其占全天的比重(fGHW)、估算的WUE(WUEe)等作为综合量化参数,并从24份国内外菜豆种质中筛选得到了GHW性状上差异显著的优劣系。

Peanuts are important oil and food sources worldwide and can be easily contaminated by highly toxic aflatoxins （AFs） , which often exist in peanuts and related foodstuff. In this experiment, a total of 12 A. flavus strains were isolated from soil collected from 7 cities of China and the aflatoxin con-tamination levels in peanuts in these areas were detected to find out the relationship between aflatoxin contamination level and amount of soil isolates in the same region, as well as the correlation between cli-mate type and peanut aflatoxin contamination level. In this study, we found that in high - temperature and moist areas, toxin producing strains were easier to be isolated and the aflatoxin contamination level in peanuts was higher. We also studied the association between the aflR expression determined by fluorogen- ic quantitative PCR and the aflatoxin production. The results showed all 3 atoxigenic isolates had the same cycle threshold 21. 38, suggesting that atoxigenic strains had the same expression of aflR, which was the key gene of aflatoxin production.
