Reducing the co.trol error is vital for high-fidelity digital and analog quantum operations. In superco.ducting circuits, one disagreeable error arises from the reflection of microwave signals due to impedance mismatch in the co.trol chain. Here, we demonstrate a reflection cancelation method when co.sidering that there are two reflection nodes on the co.trol line. We propose to generate the pre-distortion pulse by passing the envelopes of the microwave signal through digital filters, which enables real-time reflection co.rection when integrated into the field-programmable gate array (FPGA). We achieve a reduction of single-qubit gate infidelity from 0.67% to 0.11% after eliminating microwave reflection. Real-time co.rection of microwave reflection paves the way for precise co.trol and manipulation of the qubit state and would ultimately enhance the performance of algorithms and simulations executed on quantum processors.

Electrocatalytic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA), a sustainable strategy to produce bio-based plastic monomer, is always co.ducted in a high-co.centration alkaline solution (1.0 mol L-1 KOH) for high activity. However, such high co.centration of alkali poses challenges including HMF degradation and high operation co.ts associated with product separation. Herein, we report a single-atom-ruthenium supported on co.O4 (Ru-1-co.O4) as a catalyst that works efficiently in a low-co.centration alkaline electrolyte (0.1 mol L-1 KOH), exhibiting a low potential of 1.191 V versus a reversible hydrogen electrode to achieve 10 mA cm(-)(2) in 0.1 mol L-1 KOH, which outperforms previous catalysts. Electrochemical studies demonstrate that single-atom-Ru significantly enhances hydroxyl (OH-) adsorption with insufficient OH- supply, thus improving HMF oxidation. To showcase the potential of Ru-1-co.O4 catalyst, we demonstrate its high efficiency in a flow reactor under industrially relevant co.ditions. Eventually, techno-eco.omic analysis shows that substitution of the co.ventional 1.0 mol L-1 KOH with 0.1 mol L-1 KOH electrolyte may significantly reduce the minimum selling price of FDCA by 21.0%. This work demonstrates an efficient catalyst design for electrooxidation of biomass working without using strong alkaline electrolyte that may co.tribute to more eco.omic biomass electro-valorization. Scaling up spin qubits in silico.-based quantum dots is one of the pivotal challenges in achieving large-scale semico.ductor quantum co.putation. To satisfy the co.nectivity requirements and reduce the lithographic co.plexity, utilizing the qubit array structure and the circuit quantum electrodynamics (cQED) architecture together is expected to be a feasible scaling scheme. A triple-quantum dot (TQD) co.pled with a superco.ducting resonator is regarded as a basic cell to demonstrate this extension scheme. In this article, we investigate a system co.sisting of a silico. TQD and a high-impedance TiN co.lanar waveguide (CPW) resonator. The TQD can co.ple to the resonator via the right double-quantum dot (RDQD), which reaches the strong co.pling regime with a charge-photon co.pling strength of g0/(2 pi) = 175 MHz. Moreover, we illustrate the high tunability of the TQD through the characterization of stability diagrams, quadruple points (QPs), and the quantum cellular automata (QCA) process. Our results co.tribute to fostering the exploration of silico.-based qubit integration.

co.xistence of ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity in a single material is an intriguing phenomenon, but has been rarely found. Here we studied both the ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity in a group of Laco.3 films with systematically tuned atomic structures. We found that all films exhibit ferroelastic domains with four-fold symmetry and the larger domain size (higher elasticity) is always acco.panied by stronger ferromagnetism. We performed synchrotron x-ray diffraction studies to investigate the backbone structure of the co.6 octahedra, and found that both the ferromagnetism and the elasticity are simultaneously enhanced when the in-plane co.O-co.bond angles are straightened. Therefore the study demonstrates the inextricable co.relation between the ferromagnetism and ferroelasticity mediated through the octahedral backbone structure, which may open up new possibilities to develop multifunctional materials.

The co.struction of a stable-membrane tracker has significant implications for the visualization of the membrane in live cells. However, most current plasma trackers are not suitable for tracking plasma membranes for a long time due to their limited retention time. Herein, Mem580-F-Sulfo is designed to target and anchor cell membranes and therefore track cell membranes for a longer time. This tracker is co.posed of a lipophilic boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivative and a hydrophilic zwitterion to form an amphiphilic structure, which enables its targeting ability toward cell membranes. Moreover, a reactive ester group is included to bind with proteins through co.alent bonds in cell membranes nonspecifically, which extends retention time in cell membranes. Mem580-F-Sulfo shows intense brightness (94600), with a high molar absorption co.fficient of up to about 100000 L center dot mol(-1)center dot cm(-1) and a fluorescence quantum yield of up to 0.97. It shows fast cell membrane targeting ability and long retention up to 90 min. In brief, this work has not only developed a tracker with good cell membrane targetability but also provided a new strategy for improving the targeting stability of cell membranes. The performance of Nb superco.ducting quantum devices is predominantly limited by dielectric loss at the metal-air interface, where Nb2O5 is co.sidered the main loss source. Here, we suppress the formation of native oxides by in-situ deposition of a TiN capping layer on the Nb film. With TiN capping layers, no Nb2O5 forms on the surface of the Nb film. The quality factor Q(i) of the Nb resonator increases from 5.6 x 10(5) to 7.9 x 10(5) at low input power and from 6.8 x 10(6) to 1.1 x 10(7) at high input power. Furthermore, the TiN capping layer also shows good aging resistance in Nb resonator devices, with no significant performance fluctuations after one month of aging. These findings highlight the effectiveness of TiN capping layers in enhancing the performance and longevity of Nb superco.ducting quantum devices.

Size effects are a well-documented phenomenon in heterogeneous catalysis, typically attributed to alterations in geometric and electronic properties. In this study, we investigate the influence of catalyst size in the preparation of carbon nanotube (CNT) and the hydrogenation of 4,6-dinitroresorcinol (DNR) using Fe2O3 and Pt catalysts, respectively. Various Fe2O3/Al2O3 catalysts were synthesized for CNT growth through catalytic chemical vapor deposition. Our findings reveal a significant influence of Fe2O3 nanoparticle size on the structure and yield of CNT. Specifically, CNT produced with Fe2O3/Al2O3 co.taining 28% (mass) Fe loading exhibits abundant surface defects, an increased area for metal-particle immobilization, and a high carbon yield. This makes it a promising candidate for DNR hydrogenation. Utilizing this catalyst support, we further investigate the size effects of Pt nanoparticles on DNR hydrogenation. Larger Pt catalysts demonstrate a preference for 4,6-diaminoresorcinol generation at (1 0 0) sites, whereas smaller Pt catalysts are more susceptible to electronic properties. The kinetics insights obtained from this study have the potential to pave the way for the development of more efficient catalysts for both CNT synthesis and DNR hydrogenation. Nationwide longitudinal evidence linking co.nitive decline with exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) co.stituents remains scarce in China. By co.structing a dynamic co.ort based on the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, we aimed to assess individual and joint associations of PM2.5 co.stituents with co.nitive function among middle-aged and older adults in China. Linear mixed-effects models inco.porated with quantile-based g-co.putation were applied to investigate individual and joint associations of long-term exposures to PM2.5 co.stituents with co.nitive function. Among 13,507 respondents, we evaluated 38,950 follow-up reco.ds of co.nitive function tests. Declines in global co.nitive sco.e associated with an interquartile range (IQR) increase in exposure were -1.477 (95% CI: -1.722, -1.232) for nitrate, followed by -1.331 (-1.529, -1.133) for ammonium, -1.033 (-1.184, -0.883) for sulfate, -0.988 (-1.144, -0.832) for organic matter and -0.822 (-0.946, -0.699) for black carbon. An IQR-equivalent increase in joint exposure to these PM2.5 co.stituents was associated with a decline of -1.353 (-1.659, -1.048) in global co.nitive sco.e. Female, younger, and well-educated individuals were at greater vulnerability to co.nitive impairment related to individual and joint exposure to PM2.5 co.stituents. This study suggested that later-life exposures to PM2.5 co.stituents were associated with co.nitive decline in middle-aged and older adults in China.

Electrocatalytic water splitting for hydrogen production is an appealing strategy to reduce carbon emissions and generate renewable fuels. This promising process, however, is limited by its sluggish reaction kinetics and high-co.t catalysts. The two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalco.enides (TMDCs) have presented great potential as electrocatalytic materials due to their tunable bandgaps, abundant defective active sites, and good chemical stability. co.sequently, phase engineering, defect engineering and interface engineering have been adopted to manipulate the electronic structure of TMDCs for boosting their exceptional catalytic performance. Particularly, it is essential to clarify the local structure of catalytically active sites of TMDCs and their structural evolution in catalytic reactions using atomic resolution electron microsco.y and the booming in situ technol.gies, which is beneficial for exploring the underlying reaction mechanism. In this review, the growth regulation, characterization, particularly atomic co.figurations of active sites in TMDCs are summarized. The significant role of electron microsco.y in the understanding of the growth mechanism, the co.trolled synthesis and functional optimization of 2D TMDCs are discussed. This review will shed light on the design and synthesis of novel electrocatalysts with high performance, as well as prompt the application of advanced electron microsco.y in the research of materials sci.nce.
