Based on the case study of Nanjing Vocational Institute of Industry Technology, the paper is to explore methods and approaches of deepening the curriculum reform to cultivate student's practical and creative ability from following aspects: creating an open teaching environment to cultivate students' innovative consciousness, setting open teaching contents to foster students' creative thinking, and establishing an open assessment system to test students' innovation ability.

The morphology of urban areas plays a crucial role in determining solar potential,which directly affects photovoltaic capacity and the achievement of net-zero outcomes.This study focuses on the City of Melbourne to investigate the utilization of solar energy across different urban densities and proposes optimized morphologies.The analysis encompasses blocks with diverse population densities,examining medium and high-density areas.By utilizing a multi-objective genetic optimization approach,the urban morphology of these blocks is refined.The findings indicate that low-density blocks exhibit photovoltaic potential ranging from 1 to 6.6 times their total energy consumption.Medium and high-density blocks achieve photovoltaic potential levels approximately equivalent to 40%-85%of their overall energy consumption.Moreover,significant variations in photovoltaic potential are observed among different urban forms within medium and high-density blocks.An“elevated corners with central valley”prototype is proposed as an effective approach,enhancing the overall photovoltaic potential by approximately 14%.This study introduces novel analytical concepts,shedding light on the intricate relationship between urban morphologies and photovoltaic potential.

Wind-driven rain(WDR)has a significant influence on the hygrothermal performance,durability,and energy consumption of building components.The calculation of WDR loads using semi-empirical models has been incorporated into the boundary conditions of coupled heat and moisture transfer models.However,prior research often relied on fixed WDR absorption ratio,which fail to accurately capture the water absorption characteristics of porous building materials under rainfall scenarios.Therefore,this study aims to investigate the coupled heat and moisture transfer of exterior walls under dynamic WDR boundary conditions,utilizing an empirically obtained WDR absorption ratio model based on field measurements.The developed coupled heat and moisture transfer model is validated against the HAMSTAD project.The findings reveal that the total WDR flux calculated with the dynamic WDR boundary is lower than that obtained with the fixed WDR boundary,with greater disparities observed in orientations experiencing higher WDR loads.The variations in moisture flow significantly impact the surface temperature and relative humidity of the walls,influencing the calculation of cooling and heating loads by different models.Compared to the transient heat transfer model,the coupled heat and moisture transfer model incorporating dynamic WDR boundary exhibits maximum increases of 17.6%and 16.2%in cooling and heating loads,respectively.The dynamic WDR boundary conditions provide more precise numerical values for surface moisture flux,offering valuable insights for the thermal design of building enclosures and load calculations for HVAC systems.

To date,dynamic sleep environment has been attracted the focus of researchers.Owing to the individual difference on sleep phase and thermal comfort,changes in sleep environment should be occupant-centered,and precise regulation of the environment required current sleep stages.However,few studies connected occupants and the environment through physiological signal-based model of sleep staging.Therefore,this study tried to develop a data driven sleep staging model with higher accuracy through sleep experiments collecting information.Raw database was processed and selected efficiently according to the characteristics of physiological signals.Finally,the sleep staging model with an average accuracy of 93.9%was built,and other mean indicators(precision:82.5%,recall:83.1%,F1 score:82.8%)performed well.The features adopted by model were found to come from different brain regions,and the global brain signals were suggested to play an important role in the construction of sleep staging model.Moreover,the computational processing of physiology signals should consider their characteristics,i.e.,time domain,frequency domain,time-frequency domain and nonlinear characteristics.The model obtained in this study may deliver a credible reference to advance the research on control of sleep environment.

Urban color is composed of artificial and natural colors,and different geographic and humanistic environments create different color aesthetic values and expressions.Compared with regular cities,ethnic minority cities are often more distinctive in the expression of urban color due to their unique ethnic culture and beliefs.With the ethnic aesthetic characteristics accumulated through time,ethnic culture is one of the spiritual cores of the ethnic minority cities.It is of contemporary significance to carry out the study on urban color in the context of urban renewal,in order to retain regional characteristics,stimulate emotional resonance,and enhance the readability of city image by portraying the urban ethnic image.Considering the lack of related research on urban color of ethnic image,this paper takes the central urban area of Nanning as an example to show the refined ethnic image and cultural characteristics of the city that can be reflected by the urban color,so as to explore a feasible path for highlighting characteristics of the city image and stimulating cultural readability and resonance.

This paper,set against the backdrop of expanding urban rail networks and dynamic urban development,focuses on the distribution and evolution of commercial Points of Interests(POIs)within the central urban rail transit areas of Beijing.The study examines data from four different years-2008,2013,2017,and 2020-to observe the temporal evolution of commercial entities.It identifies stable explanatory variables affecting the distribution and evolution of commercial POIs,which include rail transit accessibility,characteristics of the working and residential population distribution around stations,and the construction intensity in the vicinity of station areas.Through statistical analysis and model building,relatively stable linear regression equations were established,with R2 values generally maintained above 0.5(except for 2017).The study advances our understanding of the influence of rail transit on urban commercial spaces and how this influence shifts with temporal and urban developmental changes.It elucidates the correlation between changes in the number of businesses and spatial configuration,offering insights and information for urban planners and policy makers.This research also serves as a model for exploring the interplay between urban rail transit and commercial spaces in other major cities.

designers and manufacturers often see con- sumption as the primary objective of a product - with implications such as discarded products, obsolete wastes, and ecological degradation. The paper aims to find the answer to the question, how emotional design can adapt the discarded and undesirable products into something valu- able in a long term？ This paper presents a framework combining Chapman＇s theory and Norman＇s theory on three levels of emotional design to highlight what long lasting connection with products entails. A design approach is presented combing the Wabi Sabi philosophy that pro- motes the celebration of decay and damage. This is used as one of the design principles for the experiments conducted on discarded products. Through constant user interaction before, during and after the experiments the evaluation of design as an agent of transformation is done. The user conducted the evaluation based on the Kansei elements of looks, sound, smell, and feel of the product. The experi- ments confirmed that a long-term value is only achieved through redesigning and reconstructing the perception of people towards products on a reflective level, rather than the visceral and behavioural elements of the product. The research found attachment to the visceral and behavioural elements of a product instead of an emotional one was causing users to discard products faster than required. The research indicated that many people, including designers and manufacturers, are unconsciously focusing on usability （behavioural level） and physical look （visceral level） of a product that are easily replaced, than on a meaningful way （reflective level） to create and maintain long-lasting emo- tions. The research concluded with a proposition towards digitization of products which could perhaps be an all round solution to make products more appropriate to human emotions. This paper estimates the population to be influenced by China's policy of postponed retirement age and provides design strategies and suggestions in the workplace for the ageing workforce from the perspective of inclusive design.First,the literature review about western design principles and practices for the ageing workforce is conducted.It is estimated that China would face approximately 100 million elderly workers in the near future with diverse physical conditions and demands.However,the design research and practices dedicated to ageing workforce in the workplace are comparatively weak in China.Inclusive design,one of the design approaches mainly focusing on ageing problems in developed countries,as well as its theory and methodology,could act as a good reference for Chinese policymakers and designers.Then based on the concept of inclusive design,a human-centered design model is established and design suggestions from four aspects are presented.Finally,two cases are further discussed to illustrate the idea of inclusive design.

Determining required sample size is one of the critical pathways to reproducible,reliable and robust results in human-related studies.This paper aims to answer a fundamental but often overlooked question:what sample size is required in surveys of occupant responses to indoor environmental quality(IEQ).The statistical models are introduced in order to promote determining required sample size for various types of data analysis methods commonly used in IEQ field studies.The Monte Carlo simulations are performed to verify the statistical methods and to illustrate the impact of sample size on the study accuracy and reliability.Several examples are presented to illustrate how to determine the value of the parameters in the statistical models based on previous similar research or existing databases.The required sample size including“worst”and“optimal”cases in each condition is obtained by this method and references.It is indicated that 385 is a“worst case”sample size to be adequate for a subgroup analysis,while if the researcher has an estimate of the study design and outcome,the“optimal case”sample size can potentially be reduced.When the required sample size is not achievable,the uncertainty in the result can properly interpret via a confidence interval.It is hoped that this paper would fill in the gap between statistical analysis of sample size and IEQ field research,and it can provide a useful reference for researchers when planning their own studies.
