The widespread application of phenolic substances in the field of food,medicine and industry,is harmful to the environment and human ***,it is very important to develop a con-venient and effective method to detect and degrade phenolic ***,we report a new keggin-type polyoxometallate-based metal-organic complex self-assembled under solvothermal condition,{[Cu(dap)(3-PA)]4(SiW_(12)O_(40))(H_(2)O)_(2)}·2H_(2)O(1,dap=1,2-diaminopropane,3-HPA=3-pyridineacrylic acid).1 shows an interesting 1D ladder-like *** a bifunctional catalyst,1 can be employed as a colori-metric sensor toward phenol with the relatively low detection limit(LOD)of 0.36μmol/L(S/N=3)in the wide range(0.001-0.1 mmol/L).The title colorimetric sensor is applied to determine phenol in various water environment with good recoveries ranging from 95%-105%.In addition,1 also exhibits excellent photocatalytic degradation toward phenol under visible light with the highest removal efficiency at 96%for 100 min and wide pH *** selectivity,stability and reliability of the detection of 1 towards phenol,as well as the detection for 4-chlorophenol,o-cresol,4-nitrophenol and phloroglucinol were ***,the photocatalytic reaction kinetics and the mechanisms of photodegradation of phenol were also investigated in detail.

Discriminative low-rank embedding with manifold constraint for image feature extraction and classification

The robustness against noise, outliers, and corruption is a crucial issue in image feature extraction. To address this concern, this paper proposes a discriminative low-rank embedding image feature extraction algorithm. Firstly, to enhance the discriminative power of the extracted features, a discriminative term is introduced using label information, obtaining global discriminative information and learning an optimal projection matrix for data dimensionality reduction. Secondly, manifold constraints are incorporated, unifying low-rank embedding and manifold constraints into a single framework to capture the geometric structure of local manifolds while considering both local and global information. Finally, test samples are projected into a lower-dimensional space for classification. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves classification accuracies of 95.62%, 95.22%, 86.38%, and 86.54% on the ORL, CMUPIE, AR, and COIL20 datasets, respectively, outperforming dimensionality reduction-based image feature extraction algorithms.

Coronavirus disease 2019(COvID-19)is a severe global public health emergency that has caused a major cri-sis in the safety of human life,health,global economy,and social ***,CovID-19 poses significant challenges to healthcare systems *** prediction and early warning of infectious diseases on a global scale are the premise and basis for countries to jointly fight ***,because of the complexity of epidemics,predicting infectious diseases on a global scale faces significant *** this study,we developed the second version of Global Prediction System for Epidemiological Pandemic(GPEP-2),which combines statis-tical methods with a modified epidemiological *** GPEP-2 introduces various parameterization schemes for both impacts of natural factors(seasonal variations in weather and environmental impacts)and human so-cial behaviors(government control and isolation,personnel gathered,indoor propagation,virus mutation,and vaccination).The GPEP-2 successfully predicted the COVID-19 pandemic in over 180 countries with an average accuracy rate of 82.7%.It also provided prediction and decision-making bases for several regional-scale CovID-19 pandemic outbreaks in China,with an average accuracy rate of 89.3%.Results showed that both anthropogenic and natural factors can affect virus spread and control measures in the early stages of an epidemic can effectively control the *** predicted results could serve as a reference for public health planning and policymaking.

What factors affect length of hospital stay among trauma patients? A single-center study, Southwestern Iran

Purpose: Trauma is a major health concern. Length of hospital stay (LOS) has been targeted as an important metric to assess trauma care. This study aims to evaluate the risk factors that affect LOS among trauma patients in a trauma center in Southwestern ***: This cross-sectional study was conducted on patients admitted to Rajaee Trauma center, Shiraz, Iran between January 1, 2018 and December 30, 2018. The inclusion criteria were age above 15 years and having traffic accident injuries, including car, motorcycle and pedestrian injury mechanisms. The exclusion criteria were existing diseases including cardiovascular, cerebral, renal, and pulmonary diseases prior to this study, dead upon arrival or within 48 h after admission, and stay at the hospital for less than 6 h. The risk variables analyzed for prolonged LOS were age, gender, mechanism of traffic accident injury, infection during hospital stay, type of injury, injury severity score, surgery during hospitalization, and survival. Poisson regression was performed to evaluate the partial effects of each co- variate on trauma hospitalization (≥3 days as longer stay).Results: This study was conducted on 14,054 patients with traffic accident injury and the mean age was (33.89 ± 15.78) years. Additionally, 74.35% of the patients were male, with male to female ratio of 2.90. The result of Poisson regression indicated that male patients, higher age, combination of thoracic injuries, onset of infected sites, and surgery patients were more susceptible to have a longer LOS. Considering the site of injury, patients with face injuries followed by those with thorax injuries had the highest means of LOS (3.74 days and 3.36 days, respectively).
