Increasing human activities have contributed to global climate change, and thus resulted in a downward trend in the number of species and population sizes of migratory birds. This trend is closely related to a reduction in habitat size and lower habitat quality. The Poyang lake wetland in China constitutes one of Asia's largest overwintering habitats for migratory birds. Over the past 10 years, restoration projects have improved the habitat ecology of these wetlands. In this study, we assessed the changes in habitat quality for overwintering migratory birds from 2000 to 2012 near two villages in the Poyang lake wetland using the In VEST model. Average habitat quality for migratory birds has been improved by 18.8% and47.7%. Differences in the degrees of habitat improvement can be attributed to differences in the change of habitat size and in the impact of threat sources that resulted from the combined effects of restoration and human activities in these two villages.

A drought event can cause yield loss or entire crops to *** order to study the effects of continuous drought on physiological characteristics,yield,and water use efficiency(WUE)of winter wheat(Triticum aestivum L.),the variety“Zhoumai 22”was grown in controlled water conditions of the pot-planted winter wheat under a mobile rainout *** planting and safe wintering were used to evaluate,winter wheat under different drought conditions,including light,moderate and severe drought at the jointing,heading,and filling *** soil water content was controlled at 60–70%,50–60%,or 40–50%of field *** trials included 3 pre-anthesis drought hardening,3 three-stage continuous drought,and 1 test control *** drought stress conditions,winter wheat leaf water potential,soil plant analysis development(SPAD),photosynthesis parameters,and yield declined due to pre-anthesis drought *** the degree of decline:continuous drought>pre-anthesis drought *** in the post-anthesis photosynthetic capacity of winter wheat were mainly related to the pre-anthesis drought level,rather than post-anthesis *** threshold of non-stomata limiting factors caused by photosynthesis at the filling stage is 40–50%FC,while comprehensive yield and WUE affected,the yield in severe drought treatments was the most significant,B3C3 and B3C3G3 decreased by 55.68%and 55.88%,***-anthesis drought was the main reason for the decreased crop ***,severe drought should be avoided during planting,while pre-anthesis light drought is a suitable choice for watersaving and crop production,as proper pre-anthesis drought hardening(60–70%FC)is feasible and effective.

A drought event can cause entire crops to fail or yield *** order to study the effects of continuous drought on photosynthetic characteristics,yield,and water use efficiency(WUE)of winter wheat(Triticum aestivum L.),the winter wheat variety“Aikang 58”was selected as test material with controlling the water of the pot-planted winter wheat under a mobile rainout *** on foot planting and safe wintering,winter wheat was evaluated under different drought conditions,including light,moderate and severe drought at the jointing(B),heading(C),and filling(G)*** soil water content was controlled in a range of 60%to 70%,50%to 60%,and 40%to 50%of the field capacity,*** the experiment,there were 9 single-stage droughts,3 three-stage droughts,and 1 test control(totaling 13 trials).The results are as follows:Under a single-stage drought,the change of net photosynthetic rate(Pn)and stomatal conductance(Gs)have similar trends,and they both decrease significantly with the severity of the *** three-stage continuous droughts,the change curve of Gs shows a constant downward trend;the change curve of Pn showed a“valley shape,”and the minimum value of Pn appeared at the heading *** droughts will reduce the yield of winter *** the three-stage continuous drought conditions,except for light drought,moderate drought and severe drought will cause significant yield reduction,mainly due to lack of water at the jointing and heading *** drought will reduce the WUE,and the difference will reach a significant level under moderate and severe *** present results suggested that when water resources are scarce,it is a better irrigation model to save water and achieve high grain yield by applying appropriate water stress(60%–70%FC)during the critical growth period of winter wheat.

A porous ZnO/Ag heterostructure photocatalyst was prepared by a simple one-pot method. The photoca- talytic degradation of ammonia and dye indicated that compared with pure ZnO, the photocatalytic activity of ZnO/Ag was significantly improved after Ag modification. The main reason for the improvement of photocatalytic activity is that the recombination process of photoinduced electrons and holes of ZnO was inhibited by interconver- sion of Ag＋ and Ag0 at the surface of ZnO. In addition, the effective separation of the photogenerated carriers can generate more active groups, which can promote the degradation of ammonia and organic dyes.

Investment and technology cooperation has become prevalent among manufacturers for reducing carbon ***,the success and sustainability of such cooperation can be restrained by firm *** study investigates the impact of three different cooperation modes(CER investment cooperation,information sharing cooperation,and comprehensive cooperation)on manufacturers’efforts for carbon emission reduction(CER).We also analyze how opportunism in key resources input affects the CER cooperation,and explore the influence of carbon tax and consumer environmental awareness(CEA)on opportunistic *** results show that 1)Manufacturers engaged in cooperation will increase their profits,but may not necessarily lessen carbon emission,which is related to the intensity of market competition.2)The optimal mode for manufacturers is comprehensive cooperation,followed by information sharing cooperation,and then is CER investment cooperation.3)Opportunism is not necessarily detrimental to CER.4)In the comprehensive cooperation mode,the impact of opportunism to the co-operative manufacturer is hierarchical,and whether the cooperation continues depends on the intensity of market competition.5)CEA will encourage the opportunism,while the effect of carbon tax on opportunistic motivation is related to the market size.

Effects of temperature and nutrients on phytoplankton biomass during bloom seasons in Taihu lake

Long-term variations of phytoplankton chlorophyll-a （Chl-a）, nutrients, and suspended solids （SS） in Taihu lake, a large shallow freshwater lake in China, during algal bloom seasons from May to August were analyzed using the monthly investigated data from 1999 to 2007. The effective accumulated water temperature （EAWT） in months from March to June was calculated with daily monitoring data from the Taihu Laboratory for lake Ecosystem Research （TLLER）. The concentrations of Chl-a and nutrients significantly decreased from Meiliang Bay to Central lake. Annual averages of the total nitrogen （TN）, total phosphorus （TP）, and Chl-a concentrations, and EAWT generally increased in the nine years. In Meiliang Bay, the concentration of Chl-a was significantly correlated with EAWT, ammonia nitrogen （NH4＋N）, TN, the soluble reactive phosphorus （SRP）, TP, and SS. In Central lake, however, the concentration of Chl-a was only correlated with EAWT, TP, and SS. Multiple stepwise linear regression revealed that EAWT, dissolved total phosphorus （DTP）, and TP explained 99.2% of the variation of Chl-a in Meiliang Bay, and that EAWT, NH4＋-N, and TP explained 98.7% of the variation of Chl-a in Central lake. Thus EAWT is an important factor influencing the annual change of phytoplankton biomass. Extreme climate change, such as extremely hot springs or cold springs, could cause very different bloom intensities in different years. It is also suggested that both nutrients and EAWT played important roles in the growth of phytoplankton in Taihu lake. The climate factors and nutrients dually controlled the risk of harmful algal blooms in Taihu lake. Cutting down phosphorus and nitrogen loadings from catchments should be a fundamental strategy to reduce the risk of blooms in Taihu lake.
