A framework for assessing local transmission risk of imported malaria cases

This article uses TM images in 1999 and 2006 in Dahua County,selects the driving factors having great impact on urban land use change,and conducts data processing using GIS *** then uses CLUE-S model to simulate land use change pattern in 2006,and uses land use map in 2006 to test the simulation *** results show that the simulation achieves good effect,indicating that we can use CLUE-S model to simulate the future urban land use change in karst areas,to provide scientific decision-making support for sustainable development of land use.

Globally,ischemic stroke causes millions of deaths per *** outcomes of ischemic stroke are largely determined by the amount of ischemia-related and reperfusion-related neuronal death in the infarct *** the infarct region,cell injuries follow either the regulated pathway involving precise signaling cascades,such as apoptosis and autophagy,or the nonregulated pathway,which is uncontrolled by any molecularly defined effector mechanisms such as ***,numerous studies have recently found that a certain type of necrosis can be regulated and potentially modified by drugs and is nonapoptotic;this type of necrosis is referred to as regulated *** on the signaling pathway,various elements of regulated necrosis contribute to the development of ischemic stroke,such as necroptosis,pyroptosis,ferroptosis,pathanatos,mitochondrial permeability transition pore-mediated necrosis and *** this review,we aim to summarize the underlying molecular mechanisms of regulated necrosis in ischemic stroke and explore the crosstalk and interplay among the diverse types of regulated *** believe that targeting these regulated necrosis pathways both pharmacologically and genetically in ischemiainduced neuronal death and protection could be an efficient strategy to increase neuronal survival and regeneration in ischemic stroke.

Fine mapping of GS2, a dominant gene for big grain rice

Grain shape as a major determinant of rice yield and quality is widely believed to be controlled by quantitative trait loci(QTL). We have identified a novel gene 'GS2' to largely regulate grain length and width in rice. The GS2 allele in the big-grain rice line ‘CDL’functioned in a dominant manner. In the present study, we employed a chromosome walking strategy in the residual heterozygous lines from recombinant inbred population between cultivar 'R1126' and CDL, and located the GS2 gene in an interval of ~33.2 kb flanked by marker GL2-35-1 and GL2-12 in the long arm of rice chromosome 2. According to genome annotations, three putative gene loci, LOC_Os02g47280, LOC_Os02g47290 and LOC_Os02g47300, exist in this candidate region. In addition, allelic analysis with previously reported genes demonstrated that GS2 was novel for regulating rice grain shape. These results will help promote the cloning and functional characterization of the GS2 gene and further develop linked markers to be used in marker-assisted breeding.

Machine learning approaches are increasingly being applied to neuroimaging data from patients with psychiatric disorders to extract brain-based features for diagnosis and *** goal of this review is to discuss recent practices for evaluating machine learning applications to obsessive-compulsive and related disorders and to advance a novel strategy of building machine learning models based on a set of core brain regions for better performance,interpretability,and ***,we argue that a core set of co-altered brain regions(namely‘core regions’)comprising areas central to the underlying psychopathology enables the efficient construction of a predictive model to identify distinct symptom dimensions/clusters in individual ***-driven and data-driven approaches are further introduced showing how core regions are identified from the entire *** demonstrate a broadly applicable roadmap for leveraging this core set-based strategy to accelerate the pursuit of neuroimaging-based markers for diagnosis and prognosis in a variety of psychiatric disorders.

Generation of Hematopoietic Stem Cells from Purified Embryonic Endothelial Cells by a Simple and Efficient strategy

Recent progress by versatile approaches supports the new hypothesis that multi-potent hematopoietic stein cells （HSCs） are directly formed from a rare population of endothelial cells in mid-gestation mouse embryos. This process is therefore known as the endothelial-to- hematopoietic transition （EHT）. Nevertheless, there is no functional evidence that documents the HSC transition from purified endothelial cells. In this study, we developed an OP9-DLl-based co-culture system that was able to facilitate the HSC specification and/or expansion in vitro of mouse embryonic day 10.5 （El0.5） Tie2~ cells remarkably. Then, the immunophenotypically defined endothelial ceils were harvested by a combination of surface markers （Flkl＋CD31 ~CD41 CD45 Ter119 ） from the caudal half of EI0.0-EI 1.0 mouse embryos. The transplantation of the endothelia/OP9-DL1 co-cultures led to long-term, high-level, multi-lineage, and multi-organ he- matopoietic reconstitution in the irradiated adult recipients. The induced HSC activity was initially observed at El0.5, and a significant increase was detected at El 1.0, which suggests a temporally specific regulation. Taken together, tbr the first time, we provide functional evidence showing the HSC potential of purified embryonic endothelial cells, which is indispensable for the emerging EHT concept. Moreover, the newly defined co-culture system will aid the exploration of the key molecules governing the HSC transition from embryonic and even postnatal endothelial cells, which has enormous significance in basic and translational research.

Spatial variation of the relationship between transport accessibility and the level of economic development in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China

As an important component of China’ transportation systems, for a long time, the insufficient performance of transport in QinghaiTibet Plateau(QTP) was a bottleneck restricting the economic growth and social development in this area. Nevertheless, the implementation of the western development strategy has accelerated the preliminary construction of comprehensive transport network since 2000. Due to the large area and significant geographical heterogeneity, there is a growing need to understand the relationship between transportation and economic development based on the perspective of spatial difference. By using GIS-based raster analysis and Geographically Weighted Regression(GWR) model, we investigated the spatial-temporal distribution of highway, railway and airport accessibility, respectively, and estimated the correlation and heterogeneity between transport accessibility and the level of economic development. Results revealed that:(1) Transport accessibility in the QTP improved by 53.38% in the past 15 years, which is specifically embodied in the improvement of both highway and railway.(2) Accessibility presented prominent differentiation in the space, increasing from west to east and reducing with the rise of elevation, specifically, the best accessibility area of the highway is below 4000 m above sea level, while the area with an altitude of over 4000 m has the lowest aviation time cost.(3) In general, the long weighted average time cost to critical transport facilities posed significantly negative effect on county economic growth in QTP, more positively, the adverse effect gradually weakened over time.(4) Obvious heterogeneity exists at the influence of different transport accessibility factors on the level of economic development, reflecting both in the horizontal space and altitudinal belt. Therefore, region-specific policies should be addressed for the sustainable development of transport facilities as well as economy in the west mountain areas.
