This paper is a continuation of the author＇s paper in 2009, where the abstract theory of fold com- pleteness in Banach spaces has been presented. Using obtained there abstract results, we consider now very general boundary value problems for ODEs and PDEs which poIynomially depend on the spectral parameter in both the equation and the boundary conditions. Moreover, equations and boundary conditions may con- rain abstract operators as well. So, we deal, generally, with integro-differential equations, functional-differential equations, nonlocal boundary conditions, multipoint boundary conditions, integro-differential boundary condi- tions. We prove n-fold completeness of a system of root functions of considered problems in the corresponding direct sum of Sobolev spaces in the Banach Lq-framework, in contrast to previously known results in the Hilbert L2-framework. Some concrete mechanical problems are also presented.

Twisted layered material junctions,and in particular twisted graphene interfaces,exhibit fascinating physical properties of diverse nature including unique structural,tribological,electronic,as well as heat and electron transport characteristics [1].These properties are intimately related to the moire superstructure formed at the twisted interface,which induces atomic lattice reconstruction patterns that balance between inter-layer registry optimization and intra-layer strain minimization [2].

We show that Fourier-plane imaging in conjunction with the Kretschmann–Raether configuration can be used for measuring polariton dispersion with spatial discrimination of the sample, over the whole visible spectral *** demonstrate the functionality of our design on several architectures, including plasmonic waveguides, and show that our new design enables the measurement of plasmonic dispersion curves of spatially inhomogeneous structures with features as small as 3 μm, in a single shot.

One of the promising approaches to achieving large scale superlubricity is the use of junctions between existing ultra-flat surface together with superlubric graphite *** we studied the frictional properties of microscale graphite mesa sliding on the diamond-like carbon,a commercially available material with a ultra-flat *** interface is composed of a single crystalline graphene and a diamond-like carbon surface with roughness less than I *** an integrated approach,which includes Argon plasma irradiation of diamond-like carbon surfaces,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis and Langmuir adsorption modeling,we found that while the velocity dependence of friction follows a thermally activated sliding mechanism,its temperature dependence is due to the desorption of chemical groups upon *** observations indicate that the edges have a significant contribution to the *** results highlight potential factors affecting this type of emerging friction junctions and provide a novel approach for tuning their friction properties through ion irradiation.

The most important data on the thermal regime of the Earth’s interior come from temperature measurements in deep boreholes. The drilling process greatly alters the temperature field of formations surrounding the wellbore. In permafrost regions, due to thawing of the formation surrounding the wellbore during drilling, representative data can be obtained only by repeated observations over a long period of time (up to 10 years). Usually a number of temperature logs (3 - 10) are taken after the well’s shut-in. Significant expenses (manpower, transportation) are required to monitor the temperature regime of deep wells. In this paper we show that in most of the cases (when the time of refreezing formations is less than the shut-in time) two temperature logs are sufficient to predict formations temperatures during shut-in, to determine the geothermal gradients, and to evaluate the thickness of the permafrost zone. Thus the cost of monitoring the temperature regime of deep wells after shut-in can be drastically reduced. A simple method to process field data (for the well sections below and above the permafrost base) is presented. Temperature logs conducted in two wells were used to demonstrate utilization of this method.

Micromorphology and Maturation of the Yellow Granules in the Hornet Gastral Cuticle

The yellow granules in the gastral cuticle of the Oriental hornet Vespa oriental＆（Hymenoptera, Vespinae） are located in yellow stripes. In the present study, we focus on the micromorphology and formation of the yellow granules from their inception to their spread in the regions which are destined to acquire a yellow color, The cuticle was observed with several methods of electron microscopy. The results showed that the yellow granules comprise a layer which is 20-25 μm thick, within the total cuticular thickness of 40-45 μm. In the mentioned regions one can see, from above, many apertures of about 0.5μm in diameter which extends into a peripheral photoreceptor cell. In each yellow granule, one discerns a myoid envelope inside which there are 9 fibrils arranged in a circle. Yellow granules maturation process involves infiltration of canals that give rise to the incipient ball-shaped primary granules which increase in number （as a result of continues budding off the walls of a canal） as the cuticle matures and transform into secondary barrel shaped granules, becoming elongated and then splitting into shorter barrels that fill up the entire area. Preliminary examinations have suggested liver-like function activity within the layer of yellow granules.

Amputations of the upper extremity are severely debilitating, current treatments support very basic limb movement, and patients undergo extensive physiotherapy and psychological counseling. There is no prosthesis that allows the amputees near normal function. With increasing number of amputees due to injuries sustained in accidents, natural calamities, and international conflicts, there is a growing requirement for novel strategies and new discov- eries. Advances have been made in technological, material, and in prosthesis integration where researchers are now exploring artificial prosthesis that integrate with the residual tissues and function based on signal impulses received from the residual nerves. Efforts are focused on challenging experts in different disciplines to integrate ideas and tech- nologies to allow for the regeneration of injured tissues,recording on tissue signals and feedback to facilitate responsive movements and gradations of muscle force. A fully functional replacement and regenerative or integrated prosthesis will rely on interface of biological process with robotic systems to allow individual control of movement such as at the elbow, forearm, digits, and thumb in the upper extremity. Regenerative engineering focused on the regen- eration of complex tissue and organ systems will be realized by the cross-fertilization of advances over the past 30 years in the fields of tissue engineering, nanotechnology, stem cell science, and developmental biology. The convergence of toolboxes crated within each discipline will allow interdis- ciplinary teams from engineering, science, and medicine to realize new strategies, mergers of disparate technologies, such as biophysics, smart bionics, and the healing power of the mind. Tackling the clinical challenges, interfacing the biological process with bionic technologies, engineering biological control of the electronic systems, and feedback will be the important goals in regenerative engineering over the next

Results from a wide range of searches targeting different experimental signatures with and without missing transverse momentum(E_(T)^(miss))are used to constrain a Two-Higgs-Doublet Model(2HDM)with an additional pseudo-scalar mediating the interaction between ordinary and dark matter(2HDM+a).The analyses use up to 139 fb^(-1)of proton–proton collision data at a centre-of-mass energy√s=13 TeV pp recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider during 2015–*** results from three of the most sensitive searches are combined *** searches target signatures with large E_(T)^(miss)and a leptonically decaying Z boson;large E_(T)^(miss)and a Higgs boson decaying to bottom quarks;and production of charged Higgs bosons in final states with top and bottom quarks,*** are derived for several common and new benchmark scenarios in the 2HDM+a.
