The effect of storage on physico-chemical properties of non-irradiated natural rubber and radiation vulcanized natural rubber （RVNR） were evaluated. The rubber films were stored under two different conditions, namely in open air and sealed polyethylene bags. The antioxidant, tris（nonylated phenyl） phosphite （TNPP） was used for preventing degradation of RVNR films. Gel content, cross-link density, tensile strength at break and 500% elongation of rubber films were measured. The results show that the retention （%） of tensile properties of rubber films with TNPP is higher than that of rubber films without antioxidants. The rubber films stored in polyethylene bags also show better retention of tensile properties than those of rubber films stored in open air.

Accurate and reliable nuclear data libraries are essential for calculation and design of advanced nuclea systems. A 1200 fine group nuclear data library Hybrid Evaluated Nuclear Data Library/Fine Group(HENDL/FG with neutrons of up to 150 Me V has been developed to improve the accuracy of neutronics calculations and anal ysis. Corrections of Doppler, resonance self-shielding, and thermal upscatter effects were done for HENDL/FG Shielding and critical safety benchmarks were performed to test the accuracy and reliability of the library. The dis crepancy between calculated and measured nuclea parameters fell into a reasonable range.

Small angle X-ray scattering has been used to study the variation of microstructure parameters in an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Li alloy aged at various temperatures for various durations. Coarsening of precipitates was studied by analyzing the curve of kinetics strength vs the cube of radius. The results show that the coarsening of precipitates conforms to LSW principle. In addition, the characteristic of s^3J(s) vs s curves was analyzed. The results show that the curves for samples aged at 160 ℃ for various durations(24, 48 and 96 h) have negative deviation, which maybe results in the formation of certain new precipitate. In the other aging treatment states, the curves conform to Porod principle which means there is sharp boundary between the precipitates and matrix.

A discharge-produced-plasma(DPP) source emitting in the extreme ultraviolet(EUV) spectral region is running at the ENEA Frascati Research Centre. The plasma is generated in low-pressure xenon gas and efficiently emits 100-ns duration radiation pulses in the 10–20-nm wavelength range, with an energy of 20 m J/shot/sr at a 10-Hz repetition rate. The complex discharge evolution is constantly examined and controlled with electrical measurements, while a nsgated CCD camera allowed observation of the discharge development in the visible, detection of time-resolved plasmacolumn pinching, and optimization of the pre-ionization timing. Accurately calibrated Zr-filtered PIN diodes are used to monitor the temporal behaviour and energy emission of the EUV pulses, while the calibration of a dosimetric film allows quantitative imaging of the emitted radiation. This comprehensive plasma diagnostics has demonstrated its effectiveness in suitably adjusting the source configuration for several applications, such as exposures of photonic materials and innovative photoresists.

Lead and lead-alloys are proposed in future advanced nuclear system as coolant and spallation *** test the natural circulation and gas-lift and obtain thermal-hydraulics data for computational fluid dynamics(CFD) and system code validation, a lead–bismuth eutectic rectangular loop, the KYLIN-Ⅱ Thermal Hydraulic natural circulation test loop, has been designed and constructed by the FDS team. In this paper, theoretical analysis on natural circulation thermal-hydraulic performance is described and the steady-state natural circulation experiment is performed. The results indicated that the natural circulation capability depends on the loop resistance and the temperature and center height differences between the hot and cold legs. The theoretical analysis results agree well with,while the CFD deviate from, the experimental results.

To determine the mechanistic role of fibrinogen, a key regulator of inflammation and fibrosis, in early and delayed radiation enteropathy. METHODSFibrinogen wild-type (Fib+/+), fibrinogen heterozygous (Fib+/-), and fibrinogen knockout (Fib-/-) mice were exposed to localized intestinal irradiation and assessed for early and delayed structural changes in the intestinal tissue. A 5-cm segment of ileum of mice was exteriorized and exposed to 18.5 Gy of x-irradiation. Intestinal tissue injury was assessed by quantitative histology, morphometry, and immunohistochemistry at 2 wk and 26 wk after radiation. Plasma fibrinogen level was measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTSThere was no difference between sham-irradiated Fib+/+ and Fib+/- mice in terms of fibrinogen concentration in plasma and intestinal tissue, intestinal histology, morphometry, intestinal smooth muscle cell proliferation, and neutrophil infiltration. Therefore, Fib+/- mice were used as littermate controls. Unlike sham-irradiated Fib+/+ and Fib+/- mice, no fibrinogen was detected in the plasma and intestinal tissue of sham-irradiated Fib-/- mice. Moreover, fibrinogen level was not elevated after irradiation in the intestinal tissue of Fib-/- mice, while significant increase in intestinal fibrinogen level was noticed in irradiated Fib+/+ and Fib+/- mice. Importantly, irradiated Fib-/- mice exhibited substantially less overall intestinal structural injury (RIS, P = 0.000002), intestinal wall thickness (P = 0.003), intestinal serosal thickness (P = 0.009), collagen deposition (P = 0.01), TGF-β immunoreactivity (P = 0.03), intestinal smooth muscle proliferation (P = 0.046), neutrophil infiltration (P = 0.01), and intestinal mucosal injury (P = 0.0003), compared to irradiated Fib+/+ and Fib+/- mice at both 2 wk and 26 wk. The chemical reduction of CO2 remains a challenge with respect to the reversal of the oxidative degradation of any organic materials. The conversion of CO2 into useful substances is essential in developing alternative fuels and various raw materials for different industries. This also aids in preventing the continuous rise in tropospheric temperature due to the green house effect of CO2. In this article an overview of the growth taken place so far in the field of CO2 chemical reduction is pre- sented. The discussion comprises of photochemical methods for the development of different products, viz. CO, CH3OH and CH4, through chemical reduction of CO2. This includes the use of photo catalysts, mainly TiO2, and the role of a hole scavenger （such as 2-propanol） for this purpose.
