Anti oxidative potentials and storage stability of pasteurised mixed fruits juices from pineapple and bitter orange

Humans are daily exposed to free radicals from various sources causing degenerative diseases,but can be prevented by daily intake of natural *** orange is an underutilized anti-oxidants source which can help in curbing degenerative diseases,if its consumption is encouraged by masking its bitterness or sourness with a natural sweetening *** mixed fruits juices from various percentage of bitter orange and pineapple(0:100,25:75,50:50,75:25 and 100:0%)were produced using standard procedures,stored at ambient condition and analyzed monthly for a period of six *** physicochemical properties,antioxidant activities,sensory properties and microbial load were carried out using standard *** obtained were analyzed using *** pH,obrix,titratable acidity,vitamin C,total carotenoid,total antioxidant,DPPH,total phenolic,reducing power ranged from 2.43 to 4.34,10.66-15.40 obrix,0.08-0.86 mg/g,0.10-0.45 mg/g,0.03-0.98 mg/g,0.25-1.01 mg/g,14.95-91.28%,0.10-0.28 mg/g,0.11-1.64 mg/g *** colour,taste,aroma,mouth feel and overall acceptability varied from 6.53 to 7.63,4.42-8.16,6.21-7.47,4.63-7.89 and 5.21-7.89 *** percentage of mixing and length of storage had significant influenced on all the aforementioned parameters at 95%confidence *** sample having 25%of bitter orange and 75%pineapple was the most preferred by panelists,possessing high anti oxidants capacities and better keeping quality,while the quality of the product was acceptable up to 4 months without adding synthetic preservative at room temperature.

Poly(D,L-lactic-co-glycolic acid)-based artesunate nanoparticles:formulation,antimalarial and toxicity assessments

Objective： The aim of this study was to formulate polymer-based artesunate nanoparticles for malaria treatment. Methods： Artesunate was loaded with poly（D,L-lactic-co-glycolic acid）（PLGA） by solvent evaporation from an oil-in-water single emulsion. Nanoparticles were characterized by X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calo- rimetry analyses. In vivo antimalarial studies at 4 mg/kg were performed on Swiss male albino mice infected with Plasmodium berghei. Hematological and hepatic toxicity assays were performed. In vitro cytotoxicity of free and en- capsulated artesunate （Art-PLGA） to cell line RAW 264.7 was determined at concentrations of 7.8-1000 pg/ml. Re- sults： The particle size of the formulated drug was （329.3±21.7） nm and the entrapment efficiency was （38.4±10.1）%. Art-PLGA nanoparticles showed higher parasite suppression （62.6%） compared to free artesunate （58.2%, P〈0.05）. Platelet counts were significantly higher in controls （305 000.00±148 492.40） than in mice treated with free artesunate （139 500.00±20 506.10） or Art-PLGA （163 500.00±3535.53）（P〈0.05）. There was no sign of hepatic toxicity following use of the tested drugs. The half maximal inhibitory concentration （IC50） of Art-PLGA （468.0 pg/ml） was significantly higher （P〈0.05） than that of free artesunate （7.3 pg/ml） in the in vitro cytotoxicity assay. Conclusions： A simple treatment of PLGA-entrapped artesunate nanoparticles with dual advantages of low toxicity and better antiplasmodial efficacy has been developed.

Globally,there are growing efforts to address diseases through the advancement in health research and development(R&D),strengthening of regional cooperation in science and technology(particularly on product discovery and development),and implementation of the World Health Assembly Resolution 61.21(WHA61.21)on the Global Strategy and Plan of Action on Public Health,Innovation,and Intellectual Property(GSPA-PHI).As such,the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN)is responding to this through the establishment of the ASEAN-Network for Drugs,Diagnostics,Vaccines,and Traditional Medicines Innovation(ASEAN-NDI).This is important in the ASEAN considering that infectious tropical diseases remain prevalent,emerging,and reemerging in the *** paper looks into the evolution of the ASEAN-NDI from its inception in 2009,to how it is at present,and its plans to mitigate public health problems regionally and even globally.

Evidence Based Validation of Indian Traditional Medicine–Way Forward

Evidence based validation of the ethno-pharmacological claims on traditional medicine(TM) is the need of the day for its globalization and reinforcement. Combining the unique features of identifying biomarkers that are highly conserved across species, this can offer an innovative approach to biomarker-driven drug discovery and development. TMs are an integral component of alternative health care systems. India has a rich wealth of TMs and the potential to accept the challenge to meet the global demand for them. Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy(AYUSH) medicine are the major healthcare systems in Indian Traditional Medicine. The plant species mentioned in the ancient texts of these systems may be explored with the modern scientific approaches for better leads in the healthcare. TM is the best sources of chemical diversity for finding new drugs and leads. Authentication and scientific validation of medicinal plant is a fundamental requirement of industry and other organizations dealing with herbal drugs. Quality control(QC) of botanicals, validated processes of manufacturing, customer awareness and post marketing surveillance are the key points, which could ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of TM. For globalization of TM, there is a need for harmonization with respect to its chemical and metabolite profiling, standardization, QC, scientific validation,documentation and regulatory aspects of TM. Therefore, the utmost attention is necessary for the promotion and development of TM through global collaboration and co-ordination by national and international programme.

Regional Climate Damage Quantification and Its Impacts on Future Emission Pathways Using the RICE Model

This study quantified the regional damages resulting from temperature and sea level changes using the Regional Integrated of Climate and Economy(RICE)model,as well as the effects of enabling and disabling the climate impact module on future emission *** highlight varied damages depending on regional economic development and ***,China and Africa could suffer the most serious comprehensive damages caused by temperature change and sea level rise,followed by India,other developing Asian countries(OthAsia),and other high-income countries(OHI).The comprehensive damage fractions for China and Africa are projected to be 15.1%and 12.5%of gross domestic product(GDP)in 2195,with corresponding cumulative damages of 124.0 trillion and 87.3 trillion United States dollars(USD)from 2005 to 2195,***,the comprehensive damage fractions in Japan,Eurasia,and Russia are smaller and projected to be lower than 5.6%of GDP in 2195,with cumulative damages of 6.8 trillion,4.2 trillion,and 3.3 trillion USD,***,coastal regions like Africa,the European Union(EU),and OHI show comparable damages for sea level rise and temperature *** China,however,sea level-induced damages are projected to exceed those from temperature ***,this study indicates that switching the damage modules on or off affects the regional and global emission trajectories,but the magnitude is relatively *** 2195,global emissions under the experiments with all of the damage modules switched off,only the sea level damage module switched on,and only the temperature damage module switched on,were 3.5%,2.3%and 1.2%higher than those with all of the damage modules switched on,respectively.

Anomalously enhanced thermal stability of phosphorene via metal adatom doping: An experimental and first-principles study

Atomically thin black phosphorus, also known as phosphorene, is an emerging two-dimensional (2D) material, which has attracted increasing attention due to its unique electronic and optoelectronic properties. However, the reduced thermal stability of phosphorene limits its suitability for high-temperature fabrication processes, which could be detrimental for the performance of phosphorenebased devices. Here, we investigate the impact of doping by Al and Hf transition metal adatoms on the thermal stability of phosphorene. The formation of Al–P covalent bonds was found to significantly improve the thermal coefficients of the Ag1, B2g, and Ag2phonon modes to 0.00044, 0.00081, and 0.00012 cm–1·°C–1, respectively, which are two orders of magnitude lower than those observed for pristine P–P bonds (~0.01 cm–1·°C–1). First-principles calculations within the density functional theory framework reveal that the observed thermal stability enhancement in the Al-doped material reflects a significantly higher Al binding energy, due to the stronger Al–P bonds compared to the weak van der Waals interactions between adjacent P atoms in the undoped material. The present work thus paves the way towards phosphorene materials with improved structural stability, which could be promising candidates for potential nanoelectronic and optoelectronic applications. Laser surface texturing(LST)has been proven to improve the tribological performance of machine *** micro-scale patterns manufactured by LST may act as lubricant reservoirs,thus supplying oil when encountering insufficient ***,not many studies have investigated the use of LST in the boundary lubrication regime,likely due to concerns of higher contact stresses that can occur with the increasing surface *** study aims to examine the influence of LST on the fatigue lifetime of thrust rolling bearings under boundary lubrication.A series of periodic patterns were produced on the thrust rolling bearings,using two geometrically different designs,namely cross and dimple *** oil ISO VG 100 mixed with 0.05 wt%P of zinc dialkyldithiophosphate(ZDDP)was *** bearings with cross patterns reduce the wear loss by two orders of *** patterns not only retain lubricant in the textured pockets but also enhance the formation of an anti-wear *** tribofilm generation may be improved by the higher contact stresses that occur when using the textured ***,in contrast to the negative concerns,the ball bearings with cross patterns were instead found to increase the fatigue life by a factor of three.

Potential use of Clerodendrum capitatum extracts and its formulation for control of three major stored product beetles

Objective:Insecticidal activity of Clerodendrum capitatum extracts against the stored product insect pest,Sitophilus oryzae(L.),Rhyzopertha dominica(F.),and Tribolium castaneum(Herbst)were *** and Methods:Hundred grams of *** powder was sequentially extracted with a series of solvents of increasing polarity in a Soxhlet apparatus and the extracts were concentrated on rotary evaporator to make it solvent free and the residue dissolved in a known volume of methanol and the solution was assayed for insecticidal activity by the fumigant *** extract which showed maximum activity was selected for the preparation of herbal formulation and for its insecticidal properties and *** herbal formulation obtained from leaves of *** was investigated by GCMS and GC/***:Clerodendrum capitatum ethyl extract had a very strong repellent activity to adults of all three major stored grain insects and was significantly repellent at a 1.58 mg/cm^(2).The hexane extract(oil)had high fumigant activity with LC_(50) values in the range between 25 and 32μg/L.A total of 14 components representing 97.8%of the formulation were identified and the main compounds in the formulation were found to be 2-Heptanone,3-methyl(33.9%)and Hexahydrofarnesyl acetone(25.3%)followed by 3-Dodecen-1-al(10.2%)and 8-Methyl-1-undecene(4.9%).Further,herbal formulation was found to be highly toxic to mixed age cultures of all three major stored grain insect pests which recorded 80%-90%mortality at dose of 200μg/L in 24 h exposure,where as 100%mortality achieved at dose of 200μg/L in 72 h exposure,***:The results indicate that extracts and formulation of *** has the potential to be developed in to a natural insecticide or repellent for controlling of stored product beetles.

The thermostatted system is a conservative system different from Hamiltonian systems,and has attracted much attention because of its rich and different nonlinear *** report and analyze the multiple equilibria and curve axes of the cluster-shaped conservative flows generated from a generalized thermostatted *** is found that the cluster-shaped structure is reflected in the geometry of the Hamiltonian,such as isosurfaces and local centers,and the shapes of cluster-shaped chaotic flows and invariant tori rely on the isosurfaces determined by initial conditions,while the numbers of clusters are subject to the local centers solved by the Hessian matrix of the ***,the study shows that the cluster-shaped chaotic flows and invariant tori are chained together by curve axes,which are the segments of equilibrium curves of the generalized thermostatted ***,the interesting results are vividly demonstrated by the numerical simulations.

Objective:To study the possible effects of Cerithidea obtusa extract as antidiabetic and to screen the secondary metabolites ***:Antidiabetic activity of Cerithidea obtusa extract was measured in vitro usingα-glucosidase inhibition ***,secondary metabolites screening was measured ***:The methanol extract had antidiabetic activity(IC_(50)=36.40 mg/mL).However,the control drug acarbose had significantly higher antidiabetic activity(IC_(50)=0.32 mg/mL).Secondary metabolites screening showed the presence of alkaloids,flavonoids,triterpenoids and ***:The methanol extract had antidiabetic activity and the presence of alkaloids,flavonoids and triterpenoids might contribute to the activity.
