Due to the prevalence of modern commerce and mainstream culture, many indigenous cultures around the world are rapidly diminishing. These cultures, with their unique primitiveness distinct from modern culture, often attract tourists. This study integrates the indigenous Yami culture of Lanyu Island, Taiwan Region, into innovative designs from the perspective of tourists’ understanding of the local culture. In this way, tourists can experience the harmonious coexistence of the Yami tribe and nature, while these culturally rich products foster deeper experiential and emotional resonance. This study employs the Mandala thinking method for concept expansion and the Osborn checklist method for the analysis and transformation of design elements. Subsequently, designers were invited to conduct on-site travel experiences, leading to the creation of a series of Yami cultural products. Through the evaluation and validation of cultural product assessment indicators, functional commercialized products were ultimately produced. This study aims to establish a design process for cultural products through this design case. It seeks to help users recall their Lanyu Island travel experiences and appreciate the often-overlooked cultural beauty, thereby raising awareness of cultural preservation.

The creation of hollow out art includes a variety of materials, techniques and categories, its content mostly emphasizes the ancient philosophy performance of the alternation of virtual and real, and Yin-Yang depends on the essence of Chinese culture deduction. If this feature is applied to product design, in addition to emphasizing functional orientation, this traditional arts integration with the new media, will give users a different visual inspire. This thesis is mainly in view of the importance of hollow out art in Chinese cultural heritage, and the 3D hollow out production craft has gradually lost. Therefore, the Delaunay triangle is constructed based on the Convex Hull interpolation algorithm, and the Voronoi Diagram feature is constructed based on the Divide and Conquer algorithm. And with Rhino modeling software as the main body, combined with the application of the parametric plug-in design program (GH), the 3D models of the parametric creative hollow pen holder and the parametric creative hollow lampshade were respectively completed. The traditional craftsmanship is integrated into the modern manufacturing process with innovative techniques, and the Chinese cultural spirit and beauty of nature are successfully connected.

With the increasing of complexity of complex mechatronic products, it is necessary to involve multidis- ciplinary design teams, thus, the traditional customer requirements modeling for a single discipline team becomes difficult to be applied in a multidisciplinary team and project since team members with various disciplinary backgrounds may have different interpretations of the customers＇ requirements. A new synthesized multidisci- plinary customer requirements modeling method is pro- vided for obtaining and describing the common understanding of customer requirements （CRs） and more importantly transferring them into a detailed and accurate product design specifications （PDS） to interact with dif- ferent team members effectively. A case study of designing a high speed train verifies the rationality and feasibility of the proposed multidisciplinary requirement modeling method for complex mechatronic product development. This proposed research offersthe instruction to realize the customer-driven personalized customization of complex mechatronic product.

Traditionally, small and medium enterprises(SMEs) in manufacturing rely heavily on a skilled, technical and professional workforce to increase productivity and remain globally competitive. Crowdsourcing offers an opportunity for SMEs to get access to online communities who may provide requested services such as generating design ideas or problem solutions. However, there are some barriers preventing them from adopting crowdsourcing into their product design and development(PDD) practice. In this paper, we provide a literature review of key crowdsourcing technologies including crowdsourcing platforms and tools, crowdsourcing frameworks,and techniques in terms of open call generation, rewarding, crowd qualification for working, organization structure of crowds, solution evaluation, workflow and quality control and indicate the challenges of integrating crowdsourcing with a PDD process. We also explore the necessary techniques and tools to support the crowdsourcing PDD process. Finally, we propose some key guidelines for coping with the aforementioned challenges in the crowdsourcing PDD process.

In particular a convex lower bounding function is constructed for the objective function formulated with BP-NN model and the calculation of the key parameter a is implemented by recurring to the interval Hessian matrix of the objective function. Two case studies involving the design of dopamine β-hydroxylase (DβH) inhibitors and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) nano composites are investigated using the proposed method.

Issues on intelligent resource description and multiple intelligent resources integration for lntemet based collaborative design are analyzed. A performance-based intelligent resource description model for lnternet-based product design is proposed, which can help to create, store, manipulate and exchange intelligent resource description information for applications, tools and systems in Interact-based product design. A method to integrate multiple intelligent resources to fulfill a complex product design and analysis via lntemet is also proposed. A real project for improving the bearing system design of a turbo-expander with many intelligent resources in prominent universities is presented as a case study.

Use of multidisciplinary analysis in reliabilitybased design optimization(RBDO) results in the emergence of the important method of reliability-based multidisciplinary design optimization(RBMDO). To enhance the efficiency and convergence of the overall solution process,a decoupling algorithm for RBMDO is proposed ***, to decouple the multidisciplinary analysis using the individual disciplinary feasible(IDF) approach, the RBMDO is converted into a conventional form of RBDO. Secondly,the incremental shifting vector(ISV) strategy is adopted to decouple the nested optimization of RBDO into a sequential iteration process composed of design optimization and reliability analysis, thereby improving the efficiency significantly. Finally, the proposed RBMDO method is applied to the design of two actual electronic products: an aerial camera and a car pad. For these two applications, two RBMDO models are created, each containing several finite element models(FEMs) and relatively strong coupling between the involved disciplines. The computational results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
