Magnesium is an excellent material in terms of biocompatibility and its corrosion products can serve as an active source for new bone ***,localized corrosion and H_(2)generation limit the potential of Mg-based *** low-alloyed Mg-Zn wires can strongly reduce problems with large H_(2)bubbles and improve the mechanical properties considerably while maintaining excellent long-term *** pickling and a polymer coating can be effectively used to lower the rate of in vivo *** this work,microstructural,mechanical,and in vitro characterization of 250μm and 300μm extruded wires made from ultra-pure Mg,commercially pure Mg,Mg-0.15Zn,Mg-0.4Zn and Mg-1Zn was ***,Mg-0.4Zn wires together with a variant coated with a copolymer of L-lactide andε-caprolactone were tested in vivo on artificially damaged Wistar rat *** on the observed Mg-induced osteogenesis,polymer-coated Mg wires with a small addition of Zn are a perspective material for bone-support applications,such as cerclage and fixation wires.

The 800-m(m)run is part of physical Education classes in Cameroon,after which arrhythmias may occur during ***,this study aimed at determining relationship between 800-m run loads on cardiac autonomic recovery among school ***-two male adolescents(aged[17-1]years)performed ***-exercise heart rate variability(HRV)was recorded during 5-min(min)(HRV5-min)and 15-min(HRV15-min)in time:Standard deviation of normal to normal(SDNN);Root mean square of successive differences(RMSSD)and frequency domain(LH:Low frequency,HF:High frequency,TP:Total power).Rating of Perceived Exertion(RPE)and blood lactate concentration(BLa)were measured after *** HRV5-min,RPE was associated with SDNN(r=-0.44,p<0.01)and RMSSD(r=-0.38,p<0.05).BLa was correlated with SDNN(r=-0.38,p<0.05)and RMSSD(r=-0.56,p<0.001)in the time-domain,LF(r=-0.64,p<0.001),HF(r=-0.58,p<0.001)and TP(r=-0.61,p<0.001)in frequency***,RPE was correlated with LF(r=-0.44,p<0.01),TP(r=-0.49,p<0.01)while exercise duration with HF(r=-0.38,p<0.05).In HRV15-min,BLa was correlated with RMSSD(r=-0.53,p<0.001)and SDNN(r=-0.68,p<0.001).RPE was negatively correlated SDNN(r=-0.53,p<0.01)and RMSSD(r=-0.44,p<0.01).BLa was associated with HF(r=-0.55,p<0.001),TP(r=-0.50,p<0.01)and RPE with LF(r=-0.51,p<0.01),HF(r=-0.50,p<0.01),TP(r=-0.49,p<0.01).In addition,exercise duration was negatively linked to HF(r=-0.36,p<0.05).This study outlined that in untrained adolescents an increase of 800-m loads is associated with a slow vagal indexes of HRV during the recovery.

Exercise preconditioning exhibits neuroprotective effects on hippocampal CA1 neuronal damage after cerebral ischemia

Recent evidence has suggested the neuroprotective effects of physical exercise on cerebral ischemic injury. However, the role of physical exercise in cerebral ischemia-induced hippocampal damage remains controversial. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of pre-ischemia treadmill training on hippocampal CA1 neuronal damage after cerebral ischemia. Male adult rats were randomly divided into control, ischemia and exercise ＋ ischemia groups. In the exercise ＋ ischemia group, rats were subjected to running on a treadmill in a designated time schedule（5 days per week for 4 weeks）. Then rats underwent cerebral ischemia induction th rough occlusion of common carotids followed by reperfusion. At 4 days after cerebral ischemia, rat learning and memory abilities were evaluated using passive avoidance memory test and rat hippocampal neuronal damage was detected using Nissl and TUNEL staining. Pre-ischemic exercise significantly reduced the number of TUNEL-positive cells and necrotic cell death in the hippocampal CA1 region as compared to the ischemia group. Moreover, pre-ischemic exercise significantly prevented ischemia-induced memory dysfunction. Pre-ischemic exercise mighct prevent memory deficits after cerebral ischemia through rescuing hippocampal CA1 neurons from ischemia-induced degeneration.

Introduction: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) are a public health problem and have forced many workers to quit their jobs prematurely. This study investigated the prevalence and risk factors of WRMSDs among Healthcare workers in five reference hospitals in the City of Douala-Cameroon. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 2022 among 561 healthcare workers working in five reference hospitals in the city of Douala, Cameroon. Participants were selected using a convenient sampling technique. Data were collected with structured questionnaires;data on the demographics and risk factors were collected using a well-designed questionnaire, while estimation of the prevalence of WRMSDs was done using the Modified Nordic questionnaire. Results: The overall prevalence rate of WRMSDs among healthcare workers in Douala hospitals was 83.4% (468/561). The prevalence per professional groups was as follows: 88.8% (71) for Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS), 81.9% (289) for nurses, 21 (80.8%) for Physiotherapists (PTs) and 78.8% (41) for Medical Doctors (MDs). There was a significant difference (p = 0.001) in the prevalence of WRMSDs with respect to place of work where healthcare workers from HLD recorded the highest prevalence 89.9%, while Healthcare workers from NBDH were 2.91 times at risk (AOR = 2.91;95% CI: 1.32 - 6.41;p = 0.001) to develop WRMSDs than healthcare workers in the other hospitals. With respect to body region, the highest prevalence of WRMSDs was recorded on the lower back, 58.8% with the lowest at the elbows 11.2%. The age group 30 to 39 years was significantly associated with WRMSDs at level of the shoulder (p = 0.002), upper back (p = 0.019), elbows (p Conclusion: The overall prevalence rate of WRMSDs among healthcare workers in Douala hospitals was high. Acute exercise in ozone-polluted air induces apoptosis in rat quadriceps femoris muscle cells via mitochondrial pathway

Peripheral nerve injuries affect a wide range of functional,manual and social function,and frequently lead to constant *** complete transection of nerve,axonal degeneration process gives rise to a variety of symptoms including hyperesthesia,reduced or altered sensation,pain and atrophy（Lee and Wolfe,2000）.With an array of choices for surgical and treating peripheral nerve injuries, there is also, a lot of new, coherent strategies on rehabilitation and physiotherapy protocols - which should be indispensable after injury. Physiotherapy, with a view to compensate dysfunctions relieves in sensory symptoms and creates grater neuroplasticital potential, forms essential part of the treatment for people after peripheral nerve injuries （Inoue et al., 2003）.

Hygienic and Dietary Measures in Cameroonian Hypertensive Patients Followed at the Douala General Hospital: Knowledge, Compliance and Effect on Blood Pressure Control

Introduction: The management of hypertension is mostly based on pharmacotherapy and hygienic and dietary measures (HDMs) for which little data is available in Cameroon. The concern to improve the quality of life of hypertensive patients led us to study the knowledge, compliance and effect of HDMs among Cameroonian hypertensive patients. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study carried out at the Douala General Hospital;the census of patients was carried out from 05 March to 10 May 2018. The data evaluated were knowledge and compliance with HDMs with an inference of their effect on blood pressure control. Results: We recruited 330 participants at mean age of 60 ± 11 years, 37.9% men;57.3% with blood pressure (BP) controlled. Out of 330 subjects, 308 (93.3%) who had been educated about dietary health measures for hypertension were assessed on knowledge, compliance and effect of these measures against 22 (6.7%) who had never heard about them. Around 85.7% of participants had good knowledge of HDMs and 78.9% had good compliance with them. There was no statistically significant influence of knowledge and compliance with HDMs on blood pressure control. Conclusion: The level of knowledge and adherence to HDMs of hypertensive patients at the Douala General Hospital was appreciable. It is however appropriate for physicians to intensify patient education on HDMs and BP control.

Effects of intermittent sprint and plyometric training on endurance running performance

Purpose:The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of intermittent sprint training and plyometric training on endurance running ***:Fourteen moderately trained male endurance runners were allocated into either the intermittent sprint training group(n = 7)or the plyometric training group(n = 7).The preliminary tests required subjects to perform a treadmill graded exercise test,a countermovement jump test for peak power measurement,and a 10-km time *** included 12 sessions of either intermittent sprint or plyometric training carried out twice per *** completion of the intervention,post-tests were ***:Both groups showed significant reduction in weekly training mileage from pre-intervention during the intervention *** were significant improvements in the 10-km time trial performance and peak *** was also significant improvement in relative peak power for both *** 10-km time trial performance and relative peak power showed a moderate inverse ***:These findings showed that both intermittent sprint and plyometric training resulted in improved 10-km running performance despite reduction in training *** improvement in running performance was accompanied by an improvement in peak power and showed an inverse relationship with relative peak power.
