AIM: to evaluate addition of boceprevir to peginterferon/ribavirin(PR) in russian patients with chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV).METHODS: treatment-naive(t N) and treatmentexperienced(t E) patients(who had failed prior treatment with PR for ≥ 12 wk) with chronic HCV genotype 1 infection were enrolled in this placebocontrolled, double-blind study. All patients initially received PR for 4 wk. Patients randomized to control treatment then received PR for an additional 44 wk. t N patients randomized to triple therapy received boceprevir(800 mg three times daily) plus PR for 24 wk and then further therapy according to treatment week 8(t W8) HCV RNA levels. t E patients received boceprevir plus PR for 32 wk and then further therapy according to t W8 HCV RNA levels. treatment was discontinued for t N patients with detectable HCV RNA at t W24 and t E patients with detectable HCV RNA at t W12 because of futility. the primary efficacy end point was sustained virologic response(SVR) defined as undetectable HCV RNA 24 wk after completing all study ***: SVR was 74.8% in the boceprevir plus PR arm compared with 46.2% in the control arm, with a stratification-adjusted treatment difference of 29.2%(95%CI: 16.4-41.5; P < 0.0001). Rates of SVR were higher in the boceprevir arm in both t N and t E patient groups(t N 78.4% vs 56.3%; t E 69.4% vs 30.0%). Within t E patients, the rates of SVR were higher with boceprevir plus PR compared with PR, regardless of treatment failure type(null responder, partial responder, and relapser). Most patients receiving boceprevir plus PR in both t N(86%) and t E(71%) populations were eligible for reduced treatment duration. Anemia was increased in patients receiving boceprevir plus PR vs PR alone(47.2% vs 24.4%); there was a corresponding increase in ribavirin dose reduction and erythropoietin use. Among patients receiving boceprevir plus PR, SVR rates were similar in patients with anemia(< 10 g/d L) and those without anemia(71.2% vs 77.4%).C

Numerical Solution of Constrained Mechanical System Motions Equations and Inverse Problems of Dynamics

In this paper the method of design of kinematical and dynamical equations of mechanical systems, applied to numerical ealization, is proposed. The corresponding difference equations, which are obtained, give a guarantee of computations with a given precision. The equations of programmed constraints and those of constraint perturbations are defined. The stability of the programmed manifold for numerical solutions of the kinematical and dynamical equations is obtained by corresponding construction of the constraint perturbation equations. The dynamical equations of system with programmed constraints are set up in the form of Lagrange’s equations in generalized coordinates. Certain inverse problems of rigid body dynamics are examined.

Sediment transport in headwaters of a volcanic catchment Kamchatka Peninsula case study

Due to specific environmental conditions, headwater catchments located on volcanic slopes and valleys are characterized by distinctive hydrology and sediment transport patterns. However, lack of sufficient monitoring causes that the governing processes and patterns in these areas are rarely well understood. In this study, spatiotemporal water discharge and sediment transport from upstream sources was investigated in one of the numerous headwater catchments located in the lahar valleys of the Kamchatka Peninsula Sukhaya Elizovskaya River near Avachinskii and Koryakskii volcanoes. Three different subcatchments and corresponding channel types （wandering rivers within lahar valleys, mountain rivers within volcanic slopes and rivers within submountain terrains） were identified in the studied area. Our measure- ments from different periods of observations between years 2012-2014 showed that the studied catchment was characterized by extreme diurnal fluctuation of water discharges and sediment loads that were influenced by snowmelt patterns and high infiltration rates of the easily erodible lahar deposits. The highest recorded sediment loads were up to 9-104 mg/L which was related to an increase of two orders of magnitude within a one day of observations. Additionally, to get a quantitative estimate of the spatial distribution of the eroded material in the volcanic substrates we applied an empirical soil erosion and sediment yield model - modified universal soil loss equation （MUSLE）. The modeling results showed that even if the applications of the universal erosion model to different non-agricultural areas （e.g., volcanic catchments） can lead to irrelevant results, the MUSLE model delivered might be acceptable for non-lahar areas of the studied volcanic catchment. Overall the results of our studyincrease our understanding of the hydrology and asso- ciated sediment transport for prediction of risk manage- ment within headwater volcanic catchments.

Melt and fluid inclusions were studied in the minerals of Cenozoic olivine melanephelinites from the Chukchi Peninsula, *** rock contain several generations of olivine phenocrysts varying in composition at mg=0.88～*** phenocrysts bear fluid and melt inclusions recording various stages of melt crystallization in volcanic conduits and shallow magma *** fluid inclusions are CO_2-dominated with a density of up to O.93 g/cm^*** fluid inclusions are partially leaked,which is indicated by haloes of tiny fluid bubbles around large fluid inclusions in *** inclusions contain various daughter crystals,which were completely resorbed in thermometric experiments at about 1230℃.Assuming that this temperature corresponds to the entrapment conditions of the CO_2 fluid inclusions,the minimum pressure of the beginning of magma degassing is estimated as *** in the compositions of homogenized silicate melt inclusions indicate that olivine was the earliest crystalline phase followed by clinopyroxene,nepheline and *** sequence is in agreement with the mineralogy of the *** melts are strongly enriched in incompatible trace elements and volatiles(in addition to CO_2,high C1,F,and S contents were detected).There are some differences between the compositions of melts trapped in minerals from different *** in SiO_2,FeO,and incompatible element contents are probably related to melt generations at various levels in a homogeneous mantle reservoir.

Development of high-coercivity state in melt-spun Fe41Pd41B8Si6P4 ribbons

The phase transformation and magnetic hysteresis properties of melt-spun Fe41 Pd41 B8 Si6 P4 ribbons subjected to the annealing at temperatures of 500-550℃were studied after holding for 0.1-60.0 h by transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and thermomagnetic *** additions of P,B and Si to the FePd alloy allowed us to achieve the coercivity of124 kA·m-1,which is 2.6 times higher than that of the melt-spun ribbons of the binary equiatomic FePd *** high-coercivity Fe41Pd41B8 Si6 P4 alloy is nanocrystalline and is composed of the ordered L10-phase grains approximately 40 nm in size and inclusions of the Fe2(P,B)and Pd2(Si,B)*** coercivity kinetics is controlled by the phase transformation which can be divided into three stages:transformation from the bcc structure to nanosized regions of the fee and Fe2 P phases;transformation from the fee to L10 nanosized regions with somewhat different degrees of tetragonality and their ordering;and extensive growth of the weight fraction of L10 phase from the fee nanosized regions.P and B atoms occupy interstitial sites in the iron plane of L10 lattice,thus decreasing its Curie temperature(TC).

Strength of adhesive contacts: Influence of contact geometry and material gradients

The strength of an adhesive contact between two bodies can strongly depend on the macroscopic and microscopic shape of the *** the past,the influence of roughness has been investigated ***,even in the presence of perfectly smooth surfaces,geometry can come into play in form of the macroscopic shape of the contacting *** we present numerical and experimental results for contacts of rigid punches with flat but oddly shaped face contacting a soft,adhesive *** it is carefully pulled off,we find that in contrast to circular shapes,detachment occurs not instantaneously but detachment fronts start at pointed comers and travel inwards,until the final configuration is reached which for macroscopically isotropic shapes is almost *** elongated indenters,the final shape resembles the original one with rounded *** describe the influence of the shape of the stamp both experimentally and *** simulations are performed using a new formulation of the boundary element method for simulation of adhesive contacts suggested by Pohrt and *** is based on a local,mesh dependent detachment criterion which is derived from the Griffith principle of balance of released elastic energy and the work of *** validation of the suggested method is made both by comparison with known analytical solutions and with *** method is applied for simulating the detachment of flat-ended indenters with square,triangle or rectangular shape of cross-section as well as shapes with various kinds of faults and to 'brushes'.The method is extended for describing power-law gradient media.
