Objective To investigate the prevalence of nutritional risk, undernutrition, overweight/obesity, and the application of nutritional support among geriatrics so as to provide evidence for whether elderly inpatients with undernutrition and nutritional risk should receive timely nutritional support. Methods A total of 445 elderly inpatients in the Department of Geriatrics of Peking University people’s hospital were consecutively enrolled from July 2010 to June 2011. The Nutritional Risk screening 2002 (NRs 2002) questionnaire was used on the second day after admission. The application of nutritional support was investigated on the 14th day or the discharge day. The relationship between the nutritional risk and nutritional support was analyzed. A NRs 2002 score ≥ 3 was defined as nutritional risk. A body mass index (BMI)s defined as malnutrition, 24.0 kg/m2 ≤ BMI s overweight, and a BMI ≥ 28.0 kg/m2 as obese. Results A total of 445 patients were enrolled and 423 patients (95.1%) completed the NRs 2002. The prevalence of undernutrition and nutritional risk was 4.7% and 13.2%, respectively. Among 230 patients who were overweight/obese, the prevalence of nutritional risk was 6.1%. In total, 15 of the 56 patients (26.8%) with NRs 2002 scores ≥ 3 received nutritional support, and 14 patients (3.8%) with NRs 2002 scores so received nutritional support. The average PN: EN ratio was 1.6:1. Conclusion A certain proportion of elderly inpatients in the department of geriatrics were experiencing undernutrition or were at nutritional risk. The prevalence of nutritional risk did not increase significantly with age. The current application of nutritional therapy is inappropriate. Evidence-based guidelines are required to improve this situation. The NRs 2002 may not applicable for overweight/obese elderly inpatients.

superhydrophobic surface(sHs) has been well developed, as sHs renders the property of minimizing the water/solid contact interface. Water droplets deposited onto sHs with contact angles exceeding 150°, allow them to retain spherical shapes, and the low adhesion of sHs facilitates easy droplet collection when tilting the substrate. These characteristics make sHs suitable for a wide range of applications. One particularly promising application is the fabrication of microsphere and supraparticle materials. sHs offers a distinct advantage as a universal platform capable of providing customized services for a variety of microspheres and supraparticles. In this review, an overview of the strategies for fabricating microspheres and supraparticles with the aid of sHs, including cross-linking process, polymer melting,and droplet template evaporation methods, is first presented. Then, the applications of microspheres and supraparticles formed onto sHs are discussed in detail, for example, fabricating photonic devices with controllable structures and tunable structural colors, acting as catalysts with emerging or synergetic properties, being integrated into the biomedical field to construct the devices with different medicinal purposes, being utilized for inducing protein crystallization and detecting trace amounts of analytes. Finally,the perspective on future developments involved with this research field is given, along with some obstacles and opportunities.

AIM:To compare the efficacy of pars plana vitrectomy(PPV)combined with internal limiting membrane(ILM)and silicone oil or sterile air tamponade for the treatment of myopic foveoschisis(MF)in highly myopic ***:This retrospective study included 48 myopic eyes of 40 patients with MF and axial lengths(ALs)ranging from 26-32 mm treated between January 2020 and January *** patients were underwent PPV combined with ILM peeling followed by sterile air or silicone oil tamponade and followed up at least *** on the features on spectral-domain optical coherence tomography(sD-OCT),the eyes were divided into the MF-only group(Group A,n=15 eyes),MF with central foveal detachment group(Group B,n=20 eyes),and MF with lamellar macular hole group(Group C,n=13 eyes).According to AL,eyes were further divided into three groups:Group D(26.01-28.00 mm,n=12 eyes),Group E(28.01-30.00 mm,n=26 eyes),and Group F(30.01-32.00 mm,n=10 eyes).The best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central foveal thickness(CFT),and complications were ***:The patients included 16 males and 24 females with the mean age of 56±*** BCVA and CFT improved in all groups after surgery(Ps no significant difference of the CFT in Group A,B,and C postoperatively(P>0.05).The intergroup differences of BCVA and CFT postoperatively were statistically significant in Group D,E,and *** eyes were injected with sterile air,and 28 eyes were injected with silicone oil for tamponade based on the ***,there was no statistically significant difference among Groups D,E,and F in terms of the results of sterile air or silicone oil *** mean recovery time was 5.9mo for MF patients subjected to silicone oil tamponade and 7.7mo for patients subjected to sterile air tamponade,and the difference was not statistically ***:PPV and ILM peeling combined with silicone oil or sterile air tamponade can achieve good results for MF in highly myopic eyes with ALs

Dry eye disease(DED)is a major ocular pathology worldwide,causing serious ocular discomfort and even visual *** incidence of DED is gradually increasing with the highfrequency use of electronic *** inflammation is core cause of the DED vicious cycle,reactive oxygen species(ROs)play a pivotal role in the vicious cycle by regulating inflammation from ***,current therapies merely targeting inflammation show the failure of DED ***,a novel dual-atom nanozymes(DAN)-based eye drops are *** antioxidative DAN is successfully prepared by embedding Fe and Mn bimetallic single-atoms in N-doped carbon material and modifying it with a hydrophilic *** in vitro and in vivo results demonstrate the DAN is endowed with superior biological activity in scavenging excessive ROs,inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome activation,decreasing proinflammatory cytokines expression,and suppressing cell ***,the DAN effectively alleviate ocular inflammation,promote corneal epithelial repair,recover goblet cell density and tear secretion,thus breaking the DED vicious *** findings open an avenue to make the DAN as an intervention form to DED and ROsmediated inflammatory diseases.
