A murine C2 early T cell line derived from spleen cell cultures of Balb/C mice has been established. C2 cells express the phenotype of Thy-1+CD4-CD8-Slg-, and their growth is exogenous factor-independent. Under electron-microscope examination, virus particles are clearly visualized present in the vacuoles of the cytoplasm near cell membrane and released outside the cells. A high activity of reverse transcriptase encoded by retrovirus RNA has been measured in the virus-enriched compartment isolated from C2 cells. C2 cells are tumourigenic as shown by their ability to cause diffused tumours in nude mice. After stimulation with phorbol ester and calcium ionophore, C2 cells produced a variety of lymphokines, including 1L-2, IL-4, IFNr and MAP with high or moderate activity.

Our trial was conducted to study the effects of formic acid(FA) and potassium di-formate(KDF) in broiler ration on performance, carcass traits, blood biochemical, intestinal microbial load, histological picture of intestine and immune parameters of broilers. In this study 360 one-day-old broiler chicks were divided to 3 groups with 3 replicates of 40 chicks each. The trial continued for 35 days. The control group was fed only basal diet(G1). Group 2(G2) were fed basal diet supplemented with FA(5 g/kg diet), and group 3(G3) received basal diet supplemented with KDF(5 g/kg diet). The results showed that both FA and KDF significantly increased body weight gain(BWG), dressing percentage of broilers and significantly decreased feed conversion ratio(FCR)(P < 0.05). The highest percent of breast and thigh was observed in G3. The improvement in villus height was observed in G2 and G3 compared with the control one, and the highest was in G3. The results evidence that the using of FA or KDF in broiler feeds have significant effects on performance, immune parameters, and gut health without having any significant effects on blood biochemical. However, KDF is more effective than FA as little amount of FA reaches the small intestine due to metabolism and absorption, whereas KDF permits a proportion of FA to pass through the fore-gut intact and enter the small intestinal tract. In addition, FA has a strong odor and corrosiveness to gastrointestinal tract which limits its use.

Nodular lymphoid hyperplasia: A marker of low-grade inflammation in irritable bowel syndrome?

AIM To evaluate the prevalence of nodular lymphoid hyperplasia(NLH) in adult patients undergoing colonoscopy and its association with known diseases. METHODS We selected all cases showing NLH at colonoscopy in a three-year timeframe, and stratified them into symptomatic patients with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)-type symptoms or suspected inflammatory bowel disease(IBD), and asymptomatic individuals undergoing endoscopy for colorectal cancer *** collection included medical history and final diagnosis. As controls, we considered all colonoscopies performed for the aforementioned indications during the same *** One thousand and one hundred fifty colonoscopies were selected. NLH was rare in asymptomatic individuals(only 3%), while it was significantly more prevalent in symptomatic cases(32%). Among organic conditions associated with NLH, the most frequent was IBD, followed by infections and diverticular disease. Interestingly, 31% of IBS patients presented diffuse colonic NLH. NLH cases shared some distinctive clinical features among IBS patients: they were younger, more often female, and had a higher frequency of abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, unspecific inflammation, self-reported lactose intolerance and metal contact dermatitis. CONCLUSION About 1/3 of patients with IBS-type symptoms or suspected IBD presented diffuse colonic NLH, which could be a marker of low-grade inflammation in a conspicuous subset of IBS patients.

Objective: To identify the effect of dyslipidemia on auditory function detected by Pure Tone Audiometry. To check if dyslipidemia worsens the hearing level in ***: This was a comparative study where 120 subjects between the age group of 20 and 50 years underwent pure tone audiometry, lipid profile and blood sugars. Group 1 consisted of 30 subjects with type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia; Group 2 had 30 subjects with isolated diabetes;Group 3 had 30 with isolated dyslipidemia and Group 4 included 30 normal subjects as ***: Significant hearing loss was seen only in the group with isolated diabetes(63%). The most common type of hearing loss was high frequency sensorineural hearing loss. When comparison was made between the combinations of different lipid profiles, no association was found to the level of ***: Diabetics are more prone to high frequency hearing loss. Altered lipid profile has no role in causing hearing loss.

Hepatocarcinoma is a disease that threatens human health. To date,the known etiology of hepatocarcinomahas not been narrowed down to just one factor. It is possible that there are their own causes in different ***, there are no absolute, but relative therapy to cure all kinds of hepatocarcinoma. Presently,there exists other treatment for the hepatocarcinoma which cannot be operated by surgery, such as cryosurgery,photodynamic therapy,immunotherapy,interventional radiotherapy and targeting *** the development of molecular biology ,gene therapy offers new possibilities in the treatment of genetic diseases,tumors,AIDS and other gene defect disease.

In an attempt to improve upon the end results obtained in treating colorectal cancer it was apparent that the earlier the diagnosis that could be obtained, the better the chance for obtaining desired results. In the case of more advanced tumors typified by later stage colorectal cancer, surgical debulking is an important part of the treatment strategy. Here the use of additional therapeu-tic modalities including chemotherapy and present day immunotherapy has failed to accomplish the desired im-provements that have been sought after. Adjuvant ther-apy, has offered little to the overall survival. The concept of early detection is now recognized as the initial step in reaching proper end results and can readily be demon-strated from colorectal cancer studies. Here survival has been found to be a reflection of the stage at which the tumor is first identified and treated. When specific mono-clonals targeting colorectal cancer are employed diagnos-tically, we have been able to demonstrate detection of colorectal cancer at its inception as a premalignant lesion, such that genotypic features can be identified before the phenotypic appearance of cancer can be noted.

Objective This study was aimed to quantitatively reveal the morphological structure characteristics of koilocytotic cells in cervical intraepithelial neoplasias by HE staining,to find highly specific parameters applied to differentiate and classify cervical intraepithelial neoplasias,and to discuss the value of these parameters on quantitative classify cervical intraepithelial *** 30 cases of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN)tissue biopsies were collected,which contained 10 cases of CINⅠ,10 cases of CINⅡand 10 cases of CINⅢ.After the biopsies were stained with HE,a technique of computer image analysis,Image-Pro Plus,was applied to test the parameters respectively,including morphological parameters of area,diameter,perimeter,nuclear-vacuoles ratio,nuclear area density,area number density of nucleus and vacuoles in CINⅠ,CINⅡ,CINⅢ,and compared the test *** Among these morphological parameters of CINⅠ,CINⅡ,CINⅢkoilocytotic cells,nucleus areas are43.66±16.5μm,49.76±33.78μm,45.72±13.80μm respectively;nucleus diameters are 4.84±3.6μm,7.37±2.41μm,7.56±1.18μm respectively;nucleus perimeters are 25.44±4.62μm,26.41±8.6μm,27.43±3.86μm respectively;vacuoles areas are 186.67±131.47μm17.40±163.38μm、59.30±18.61μm respectively;vacuoles diameters are 16.30±4.48μm、17.30±5.54μm、3.82±0.93μm respectively;vacuoles perimeters are 58.47±18.19μm、62.84±21.71μm、14.10±4.65μm *** are significant differences in nucleus diameters,vacuoles areas,vacuoles diameters and vacuoles perimeters among CINⅠ,CINⅡ,CINⅢ.Conclusions It may help in classification and quantitative diagnosis of CIN by quantitatively analysing nucleus diameters,vacuoles areas,vacuoles diameters and vacuoles perimeters of koilocytotic cell.

Distribution of Sm and Ce in mice was investigated after inhalation exposure to their oxide particles of 5 μm diameter and 15 mg/*** and Ce were mainly distributed in lung,their concentrations decreased with passing time,and their concentrations in lung were correlated with exposure *** of Ce were lower than that of Sm in each *** was also distributed in the other organs and bone but Ce was scarcely *** results suggest that the behaviors of Sm and Ce inhaled were different,although their chemical properties are similar.
