Background Anxiety disorder, one of the highly disabling, prevalent and common mental disorders, is known to be more prevalent in persons with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) than the general population, and the comorbid presence of anxiety disorders is known to have an impact on the diabetes outcome and the quality of life. However, the information on the type of anxiety disorder and its prevalence in persons with T2DM is limited. Aims To assess the prevalence and correlates of anxiety disorder in people with type 2 diabetes in different countries. Methods People aged 18-65 years with diabetes and treated in outpatient settings were recruited in 15 countries and underwent a psychiatric interview with the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview. Demographic and medical record data were collected. Results A total of 3170 people with type 2 diabetes (56.2% women;with mean (SD) duration of diabetes 10.01 (7.0) years) participated. The overall prevalence of anxiety disorders in type 2 diabetic persons was 18%;however, 2.8% of the study population had more than one type of anxiety disorder. The most prevalent anxiety disorders were generalised anxiety disorder (8.1%) and panic disorder (5.1%). Female gender, presence of diabetic complications, longer duration of diabetes and poorer glycaemic control (HbA1c levels) were significantly associated with comorbid anxiety disorder. A higher prevalence of anxiety disorders was observed in Ukraine, Saudi Arabia and Argentina with a lower prevalence in Bangladesh and India. Conclusions Our international study shows that people with type 2 diabetes have a high prevalence of anxiety disorders, especially women, those with diabetic complications, those with a longer duration of diabetes and poorer glycaemic control. Early identification and appropriate timely care of psychiatric problems of people with type 2 diabetes is warranted.

Use of atypical antipsychotics （AAPs） in child/adolescent psychiatry （CAP） population is rife to address a wide array of indications. Apart from the Food and Drug Administration approval in schizophrenia, bipolar mood disorders, irritability in autism spectrum disorder, and Tourette＇s syndrome, AAPs are commonly prescribed off-label for aggression in intellectual disability or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, augmentation in depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a serious threat to global mental *** lines of evidence suggest that there is a varying yet considerable increase in mental health issues among the general population and vulnerable groups.12 The aftermath is obscure and speculative from a social,economic,individual and public mental health *** published studies support the existence of an emotional epidemic curve,describing a high probability of an increase in the burden of mental health issues in the post-pandemic era.34 Furthermore,previous major public health emergencies showed that more than half of the population devel-oped mental health problems and required mental health intervention.45 There is,therefore,an urgent need to reorganise existing mental health services to address the current unmet needs for mental health and to prepare for future challenges in the postpandemic era in terms of prevention and management.

Objective:To examine the association between mothers’health-related quality of life(HRQOL)and their children’s HRQOL and behavior in low-income ***:Mothers of 278 children aged 6-12 years from low-income families were invited to complete the child health Questionnaire Parent Form 50(CHQ-PF50)and the Strength and Dif-ficulties Questionnaire(SDQ)for their children as well as the 12-item Short-Form health Survey version 2(SF-12v2)and the Patient health Questionnaire-2(PHQ-2).Multiple linear regressions with mother-child pairs as the unit of analysis were performed to examine the associations between maternal and child variables with adjustment of mother-and child-level ***:Compared with the general population,low-income mothers had a lower mean SF-12v2 mental component summary score and their children also had lower mean CHQ-PF50 physi-cal and psychosocial summary scores and SDQ total difficulties *** of mothers with SF-12v2 scores below the population mean of 50 had significantly worse CHQ-PF50 scores and higher SDQ total difficulties *** mother’s PHQ-2 depression status had no association with the child’s CHQ-PF50 ***:Our findings suggest that more attention should be paid to reducing the negative impact of health problems on mothers’daily roles in childcare in low-income families.

TToo tthhee eeddiittoorr::Eating disorder(ED),as defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of mental Disorders(DSM-5),is a persistent disturbance of eating or eating-related behaviour that results in the altered consumption or absorption of food and that significantly impairs physical health or psychosocial functioning.^(1)The DSM-5 outlines criteria for EDs,including anorexia nervosa,bulimia nervosa,binge-eating disorder,pica,rumination disorder and avoidant/restrictive food intake *** are relatively common in young people,affecting 5.5%-17.9%of young women and 0.6%-2.4%of young men by the time they reach early adulthood.

AIM To examine the associations between mental disorders and infectious, atopic, inflammatory diseases while adjusting for other risk *** We used data from PsyC oL aus, a large Swiss Population Cohort Study(n = 3720; age range 35-66). Lifetime diagnoses of mental disorders were grouped into the following categories: Neurodevelopmental, anxiety(early and late onset), mood and substance disorders. They were regressed on infectious, atopic and other inflammatory diseases adjusting for sex, educational level, familial aggregation, childhood adversities and traumatic experiences in childhood. A multivariate logistic regression was applied to each group of disorders. In a complementary analysis interactions with sex were introduced via nested effects. RESULTS Associations with infectious, atopic and other chronic inflammatory diseases were observable together with consistent effects of childhood adversities and familial aggregation, and less consistent effects of trauma in each group of mental disorders. Streptococcal infections were associated with neurodevelopmental disorders(men), and measles/mumps/rubella-infections with early and late anxiety disorders(women). Gastric inflammatory diseases took effect in mood disorders(both sexes) and in early disorders(men). Similarly, irritable bowel syndrome was prominent in a sex-specific way in mood disorders in women, and, moreover, was associated with early and late anxiety disorders. Atopic diseases were associated with late anxiety disorders. Acne(associations with mood disorders in men) and psoriasis(associations with early anxiety disorders in men and mood disorders in women) contributed sex-specific results. Urinary tract infections were associated with mood disorders and, in addition, in a sex-specific way with late anxiety disorders(men), and neurodevelopmental and early anxiety disorders(women).CONCLUSION Infectious, atopic and inflammatory diseases areimportant risk factors for all groups of mental disorde
