Diffusion and collective motion of rotlets in 2D space

We investigate the collective motion of rotlets that are placed in a single plane. Due to the hydrodynamic interactions,the particles move through the two-dimensional(2D) plane and we analyze these diffusive motions. By analyzing the scaling of the values, we predict that the diffusion coefficient scales with φ0.5, the average velocity with φ, and relaxation time of the velocity autocorrelation function with φ-1.5, where φ is the area fraction of the particles. In this paper, we find that the predicted scaling could be seen only when the initial particle position is homogeneous. The particle collective motions are different by starting the simulation from random initial positions, and the diffusion coefficient is the largest at a minimum volume fraction of our parameter range, φ = 0.05. The deviations based on two initial positions can be explained by the frequency of the collision events. The particles collide during their movements and the inter-particle distances gradually increase. When the area fraction is large, the particles will result in relatively homogeneous configurations regardless of the initial positions because of many collision events. When the area fraction is small(φ < 0.25), on the other hand, two initial positions would fall into different local solutions because the rare collision events would not modify the inter-particle distances drastically. By starting from the homogeneous initial positions, the particles show the maximum diffusion coefficient at φ≈ 0.20. The diffusion coefficient starts to decrease from this area fraction because the particles start to collide and hinder each other from a critical fraction ~23%. We believe our current work contributes to a basic understanding of the collective motion of rotating units.

An interactive approach to investigate brightness perception of daylighting in Immersive Virtual Environments:Comparing subjective responses and quantitative metrics

Daylighting plays an eminent role in the performance of indoor environments and their occupants,thus necessitating the need to investigate daylight perception of potential occupants at early design *** present study introduces an interactive approach to collect and visualize brightness perception of daylighting in a large-scale immersive virtual environment using a game engine as a daylight simulation *** developed system allows users to explore building models freely at different day times set in virtual reality and report their perceptions in real *** a validation study(N=36)to investigate the consistency of brightness perceptions in a real environment and its virtual replica,a set of 24 participants were recruited to use the system to report their brightness perception in a virtual model of a daylit art museum,through snapshotting the scenes where they perceive as one of the following in terms of daylighting:(very dark,dark,bright,or very bright).Using an output of 419 snapshots,a"Perceptual Light Map"(PLM)was developed to visualize the collective brightness perception of participants as a heat *** responses were found to be positively correlated with four daylight metrics,with the highest correlation to mean luminance and the lowest to luminance *** findings of this exploratory study represent a step towards a user-oriented supplement tool to the existing quantitative daylight metrics,validating game engines’adequacy as a daylight simulation tool,and illustrating the potentials of immersion and interaction principles for the perception of daylit spaces in virtual reality.

Precise measurement of magnetic moment of short-lived β-emitting nuclei ^(12)B (I~π=1^+,T_(1/2)=20.18 ms)

The spin polarized β-emitting nuclei12B (I π=1+,T 1/2=20.18 ms) were produced by the nuclear reaction11B(d, p)12B and by the selection technique of the incident deuteron energy and the12B recoil angle following the nuclear reaction. The nuclear magnetic moment of the short-lived nuclei12B was measured by β-NMR with the β-NMR and β-NQR setup established for the first time in China. The nuclear magnetic moment of12B was determined to be μ=0.99993±0.00048 nm org=0.99993±0.00048 after the precise correction of the Knight shift.

本文是论述关于日本列岛汉字普及的过程及其历史。从57年赐予倭国王的金印、3世纪《三国志·魏志·倭人传》的记载、中国带来的镜上的汉字来看，多处可见倭人知道汉字的想法。也有从应神天皇的时代王仁带来《千字文》和《论语》、《宋书·倭国传》记载顺帝升明二年（478）倭王武送呈出色的上表，有提倡倭王武熟知汉字的说法。但是至6世纪《隋书·倭国传》中，关于日本列岛的文字使用状况记载有“无文字，唯刻木结绳”，这是隋朝遣使看到的实际状况。6世纪佛教从百济传来，随着佛教经典的流入，为了理解佛教需要学习汉字。这样的情况成为日本列岛汉字的导入时期。610年高丽僧昙征渡来并制作纸墨。之后7世纪中叶出现了木简的出土文物。这是官员处理事务使用汉字，也可以看出日本列岛汉字普及的痕迹。之后藤原京、平城京出土了大量木简。至8世纪编纂《古事记》、《日本书纪》，日本列岛的汉字熟练水平提高。不久简化汉字制作假名，产生了以音表记和训表记日语的独自的汉字的使用。其基础是在6世纪至7世纪中叶建立的。

Usefulness of noninvasive transient elastography for assessment of liver fibrosis stage in chronic hepatitis C

AIM：To evaluate the method of noninvasive transient elastography for assessment of histological stage of liver fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C （CHC）.METHODS： Two hundred and thirty-seven patients with CHC were included in this study. Liver biopsy was performed under ultrasonography on 217 of the patients, excluding twenty with clear clinical evidence of liver cirrhosis. Fifty subjects without liver disease were enrolled as a control group （stage 0）. Twentyfive patients with sustained virological response （SVR） to interferon （IFN） therapy were also enrolled. These patients underwent liver biopsy before IFN therapy. Examination of liver stiffness （LS） was performed by elastography.RESISTS： Medians （50% levels） of LS were 4.1 （3.5-4.9）, 6.3 （4.8-8.5）, 8.8 （6.8-12.0）, 14.6 （10.5-18.6）, and 22.2 （15.4-28.0）, respectively, in the fibrosis stages 0-4 （P 〈 0.001）. LS was significantly correlated with four serum fibrosis markers. LS values in patients with SVR were 3.8 （3.5-5.6）, 5.2 （4.4-6.8）, 6.8 （6.1-7.6）, and 6.1 （3.6-7.9）, respectively, in the fibrosis stages 1-4. In all stages, LS for patients with SVR was significantly lower than that for patients who did not undergo IFN therapy. LS was significantly correlated with serum concentrations of hyaluronic acid, type Ⅳ collagen, type Ⅳ collagen 7S, and type Ⅲ procollagen N peptide.CONCLUSION： LS correlated well with the histological stage of fibrosis. Changes in liver fibrosis stage may thus be estimated noninvasively using transient elastography.

Magnetic Properties of Nd-Fe-B Sintered Magnet Powders Recovered by Yb Metal Vapor Sorption

Fine ground powders of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet bulks (particle size=46～125 μm in diameter) were coated and alloyed with Yb metal by sorbing them. A significant recovery of the decreased magnetic properties of the ground powders (remanence B r=～0.95 T, coercivity H cj =～227 kA·m -1 and maximum energy product (BH) max=～48 8 kJ·m -3) was observed in accordance with increasing temperature up to 800 ℃. The sorbing temperature and time for Yb metal vapor were optimized and after heating at 800 ℃ for 90 min and annealing subsequently at 610 ℃ for 60 min, the B r, H cj and (BH) max values were increased to be 0.98 T, 712 kA·m -1 and 173 kJ·m -3, respectively. From the microstructural characterizations of resulting samples by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and electron probe X-ray microanalyzer (EPMA), it is found that the sorbed Yb metal uniformly covers the surface and diffuses to the Nd-rich grain boundary of fine ground powders of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet bulks forming a (Nd,Yb)Fe 2 phase.

Background and Aims:As practice patterns and hepatitis C virus(HCV)genotypes(GT)vary geographically,a global real-world study from both East and West covering all GTs can help inform practice policy toward the 2030 HCV elimination *** study aimed to assess the effectiveness and tolerability of DAA treatment in routine clinical practice in a multinational cohort for patients infected with all HCV GTs,focusing on GT3 and ***:We analyzed the sustained virological response(SVR12)of 15,849 chronic hepatitis C patients from 39 Real-World Evidence from the Asia Liver Consortium for HCV clinical sites in Asia Pacific,North America,and Europe between 07/01/2014–07/01/***:The mean age was 62±13 years,with 49.6%*** demographic breakdown was 91.1%Asian(52.9%Japanese,25.7%Chinese/Taiwan residents,5.4%Korean,3.3%Malaysian,and 2.9%Vietnamese),6.4%White,1.3%Hispanic/Latino,and 1%Black/***,34.8%had cirrhosis,8.6%had hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and 24.9%were treatment-experienced(20.7%with interferon,4.3%with direct-acting antivirals).The largest group was GT1(10,246[64.6%]),followed by GT2(3,686[23.2%]),GT3(1,151[7.2%]),GT6(457[2.8%]),GT4(47[0.3%]),GT5(1[0.006%]),and untyped GTs(261[1.6%]).The overall SVR12 was 96.9%,with rates over 95%for GT1/2/3/6 but 91.5%for ***12 for GT3 was 95.1%overall,98.2%for GT3a,and 94.0%for ***12 was 98.3%overall for GT6,lower for patients with cirrhosis and treatment-experienced(TE)(93.8%)but≥97.5%for tretment-naive patients regardless of cirrhosis *** multivariable analysis,advanced age,prior treatment failure,cirrhosis,active HCC,and GT3/4 were independent predictors of lower SVR12,while being Asian was a significant predictor of achieving ***:In this diverse multinational realworld cohort of patients with various GTs,the overall cure rate was 96.9%,despite large numbers of patients with cirrhosis,HCC,TE,and GT3/***12 for GT3/6 with cirrhosis and TE was lower but st

Non-cooperative optimization games in market-oriented overlay networks： an integrated model of resource pricing and network formation

In this paper, we formulate a non-cooperative optimization game in market-oriented overlay networks where participating peers share their own computing resources to earn virtual money called energy. We model an overlay network as a set of non-cooperative resource providing peers, called platforms, that perform resource pricing and topology management to maximize their own energy gains. Resource consuming peers, called agents, are simply designed to migrate platform-to-platform to find the least expensive resources in the network. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the market dynamics as well as the global properties of the network, i.e., resource price and network topology, that emerge from local interactions among the group of peers.

Effect of Filler Composition on the Brazing of Alumina to Copper Using Ultrasonic Wave

An ultrasonic wave was applied during brazing of alumina to Cu. First alumina was metallized by applying ultrasonicwave in braze bath. Then the metallized alumina was brazed with Cu using the same filler alloy. The filler used wereZn-Al alloys and Zn-Sn Alloys. The weight percent of Al in filler was ranging between 0, 5%, 10%, *** weight percent of tin in filler was ranging between 0, 30%, 60% and 91%, respectively. The joining mechanismwas investigated by measuring the joining strength, hardness and analyzing the microstructure at interface of thejoint. The shear strength and microstructure of the joint strongly depend on the filler composition. The effect ofultrasound was derived primarily from acoustic cavitations, impact and friction of the filler against alumina *** improved the wetting between alumina and the filler, and reflected to improve the joint strength. Anotherultrasonic advantage as to reduce of the joining temperature, that reduced the thermal stress in the braze joint.

On large scale CFD-DEM simulation for gas-liquid-solid,three-phase flows
