Purple rice is a source of bioactive antioxidants for rice consumers. Loss of the major antioxidant compounds after a range of cooking processes was evaluated by measuring the changes in anthocyanin concentration （ATC） and antioxidant capacity （DPPH activity） of four non-glutinous and four glutinous genotypes. However, soaking in water prior to cooking generally decreased more ATC and antioxidant capacity in non-glutinous than in glutinous genotypes. Wet cooking （WC） and soaking before wet cooking （S-WC） led to lose almost all the ATC and antioxidant capacity with only slight variation between genotypes. In the glutinous genotype Pieisu, which had the highest raw rice ATC, ATC remained the highest when cooked by the WC method. By contrast, almost no ATC remained after WC and S-WC in the low ATC genotypes such as Kum Doi Saket. Overall, the loss of ATC was greater in non-glutinous than in glutinous genotypes for both WC and S-WC methods, but the reverse occurred for antioxidant capacity. WC using electric rice cooker retained higher ATC than the pressure cooking. Thus, for genotypes with high ATC and antioxidant capacity, the selection of cooking method is critical for retaining and stabilizing rice quality.

We investigate the bipolaron channel B＋＋＋ B-- → BX. The dynamical evolutions and transition probabilities of this bipolaron luminescence channel are studied. It is found that this channel avoids the triplet and is able to enhance the efficiency. We suggest that choosing certain polymers and injection structures, in which B is easily formed, can improve the luminescence efficiency. It is believed that these results will motivate further experimental studies about the function of bipolarons in electroluminescence.

Objective:To elucidate the pharmacological bases of oral administration of Securidaca longepedunculata(***) root extract as an anthelmintic in folkloric medicine. Methods:Albino mice were infected with infective third(L3) larval stage of Heligmosomoides polygyrus(***) by esophageal *** establishment of the adult worms in the intestine,the mice were treated with 0-2 000 mg/kg body weight(bw) of methanolic root extract of *** and 100 mg/kg bw of pyrantel embonate,the reference drug in vivo. Bioactivity and larvicidal effects of the extract were tested by exposing brine shrimps(Artemia salina) to 0.00-1.00 mg/mL and the L3 stage of Heligmosomoides contortus(***) and *** to 0.00-2.50 mg/mL of the extract in ***:The percentage yield of the extract was 7.13%w/w dry *** brine shrimps toxicity bioassay resulted in an LC_(50) of 74.18 μ g/*** extract had a significant,dose-dependent larvicidal effect on the L3 stage of *** and *** with the terminal effect of 75%and 70%at the highest exposure concentrations,*** extract however,did not affect the number of worm eggs per gram(epg) of fecal materials(P<0.05) and total worm burden(twb) of adult *** in infected *** with pyrantel embonate significant reduced both the fecal egg count and twb to 0 compared to the untreated control(P<0.05).Conclusions:These results indicate that *** root extract contains potent bioactive compounds and has larvicidal effect on L3 stage of *** and ***,substantiating its use as anthelmintic in alternative medicine.

Ribonucleic acid(RNA)nanotechnology platforms have the potential of harboring therapeutics for in vivo delivery in disease ***,the nonspecific interaction between the harbored hydrophobic drugs and cells or other components before reaching the diseased site has been an obstacle in drug *** we report an encapsulation strategy to prevent such nonspecific hydrophobic interactions in vitro and in vivo based on a self-assembled three-dimensional(3D)RNA *** placing an RNA three-way junction(3WJ)in the cavity of the nanocage,the conjugated hydrophobic molecules were specifically positioned within the nanocage,preventing their exposure to the biological *** assembly of the nanocages was characterized by native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(PAGE),atomic force microscopy(AFM),and cryogenic electron microscopy(cryo-EM)*** stealth effect of the nanocage for hydrophobic molecules in vitro was evaluated by gel electrophoresis,flow cytometry,and confocal *** in vivo sheathing effect of the nanocage for hydrophobic molecules was assessed by biodistribution profiling in *** RNA nanocages with hydrophobic biomolecules underwent faster clearance in liver and spleen in comparison to their ***,this encapsulation strategy holds promise for in vivo delivery of hydrophobic drugs for disease treatment.

AIM： To investigate the prevalence and risk factors of gastroesophageal reflux disease （GERD） symptoms in Qashqai migrating nomads with a different life style in Fars province, southern Iran. METHODS： In summer 2006, 748 Qashqai migrating nomads aged 25 years or more were enrolled using a multiple-stage stratified cluster random sampling method. A questionnaire consisting of demographic characteristics, lifestyle and GERD symptoms （heartburn, regurgitation, chest pain, dysphagia, hoarseness and cough） as completed for each subject. RESULTS： The questionnaire was completed in 717 subjects. The prevalence rate of GERD, defined as reflux occurring at least one time per week in the preceding year, was 33% （237 subjects）. The prevalence was higher in older individuals （36.0% vs 28.9%, P 〈 0.05） and in those with other gastrointestinal complaints （51.0% vs 27.8%, P 〈 0.001）, but not different in obese and non-obese subjects. It was also higher in those consuming fruits and vegetables more than once a week （36.2% vs 17.3%, P 〈 0.001）. GERD had a positive correlation with smoking （42.1% vs 27.8%, P 〈 0.001）, but a negative relation with non-alcoholic beverages. The association between GERD and non-steroidal antiinflammatory drugs （NSAIDs） consumption was also significant （40.2% vs 25.4%, P 〈 0.001）. CONCLUSION： The prevalence of GERD （33%） is very high in Qashqai migrating nomads which may be due to a lower socioeconomic and educational level of these people and difference in the life style. Older age, frequent consumption of fruits and vegetables, smoking and NSAIDs are risk factors for GERD in this population.

The effect of catalytic surface reaction on non-reactive flow in micro-channels is *** hydraulic diameter of the channel is considered within the range of 0.2-1.2 mm,and the channel length is considered to be 5 *** whole length of the channel wall is coated with a *** sensitivity analysis shows that the effect of normalized hydraulic diameter is more than the normalized longitude coordinates in accordance with the existence of the large ratio of surface area to volume in the *** validation of this model,the variation of fuel conversion is compared with the published experimental data and shows an acceptable agreement.
