Optimal Location and Sizing ofMulti-Resource Distributed Generator Based onMulti-Objective Artificial Bee Colony Algorithm

Distribution generation(DG)technology based on a variety of renewable energy technologies has developed rapidly.A large number of multi-type DG are connected to the distribution network(DN),resulting in a decline in the stability of DN operation.It is urgent to find a method that can effectively connect multi-energy DG to DN.photovoltaic(PV),wind power generation(WPG),fuel cell(FC),and micro gas turbine(MGT)are considered in this paper.A multi-objective optimization model was established based on the life cycle cost(LCC)of DG,voltage quality,voltage fluctuation,system network loss,power deviation of the tie-line,DG pollution emission index,and meteorological index weight of DN.Multi-objective artificial bee colony algorithm(MOABC)was used to determine the optimal location and capacity of the four kinds of DG access DN,and compared with the other three heuristic algorithms.Simulation tests based on IEEE 33 test node and IEEE 69 test node show that in IEEE 33 test node,the total voltage deviation,voltage fluctuation,and system network loss of DN decreased by 49.67%,7.47%and 48.12%,respectively,compared with that without DG configuration.In the IEEE 69 test node,the total voltage deviation,voltage fluctuation and system network loss of DN in the MOABC configuration scheme decreased by 54.98%,35.93%and 75.17%,respectively,compared with that without DG configuration,indicating that MOABC can reasonably plan the capacity and location of DG.Achieve the maximum trade-off between DG economy and DN operation stability.

Analysis of Calcined Red Mud Properties and Related Mortar Performances

Red mud(RM)is a low-activity industrial solid waste,and its utilization as a resource is currently a hot topic.In this study,the micro characteristics of red mud at different calcination temperatures were analyzed using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.The performance of calcined red mud was determined through mortar strength tests.Results indicate that high-temperature calcination can change the mineral composition and microstructure of red mud,and increase the surface roughness and specific surface area.At the optimal temperature of 700°C,the addition of calcined red mud still leads to a decrease in mortar strength,but its activity index and flexural coefficient increase by 16.2%and 11.9%with respect to uncalcined red mud,reaching values of 0.826 and 0.974,respectively.Compared with the control group,the synergistic activation of calcined red mud with slag can increase the compressive and flexural strength of the mortar by 12.9%and 1.5%,reaching 8.7 and 62.4 MPa,respectively.Correspondingly,the activity index and flexural coefficient of the calcined RM and GGBS(Ground Granulated Blast furnace Slag)mixtures also increase to 1.015 and 1.130,respectively.

Influence of span-to-depth ratio on dynamic response of vehicle-turnoutbridge system in high-speed railway

For high-speed railways,the smoothness of the railway line significantly affects the operational speed of trains.When the train passes through the turnout on a long-span bridge,the wheel-rail impacts caused by the turnout structure irregularities,and the instability arising from the bridge's flexural deformation lead to a strong coupling effect in the vehicle-turnout-bridge system.This significantly affects both ride comfort and operational safety.For addressing this issue,the present study considered a long-span continuous rigid-frame bridge as an example and established a train-turnout-bridge coupled dynamic model of high-speed railway.Utilizing a selfdeveloped dynamic simulation program,the study analysed the dynamic response characteristics when the train passes through the turnouts on the bridge.It also investigated the influence of different span-to-depth ratios of the bridge on the vehicle dynamic response when the train passes through the main line and branch line of turnouts and then proposed a span-to-depth ratio limit value for a long-span continuous rigid-frame bridge.The research findings suggest that the changes in the span-to-depth ratio have a relatively minor impact on the train’s operational performance but significantly affect the dynamic characteristics of the bridge structure.Based on the findings and a comprehensive assessment of safety indicators,it is advisable to establish a span-to-depth ratio limit of 1/4500 for a long-span continuous rigid-frame bridge.

To the Editor:Esophageal cancer,one of the most common cancer types in China,with an estimated 346,633 new cases and 323,600 deaths in 2022,is becoming an increasingly serious clinical and public health problem.^([1])The successful promotion of the self-management strategy has indicated that lifestyle modifications can be valuable in the primary prevention of cancer development.Adopting a healthy lifestyle has become a novel strategy for primary prevention and risk reduction in high-risk areas.Previous epidemiological studies have identified several lifestyle-related risk factors for esophageal cancer,including smoking and diet.^([2])Each factor can typically explain a modest proportion of cancer risk.However,when combined,these known risk factors may substantially affect the risk of esophageal cancer.Nevertheless,some risk factors for esophageal cancer are non-modifiable,including age,low socioeconomic status,and family history.Whether and how these non-modifiable risk factors affect primary cancer prevention by intervening with modifiable risk factors remain unclear.

Comparison of lattice and pseudo 3D numerical simulation of tip screen out operation

Hydraulic fracturing(HF)is a commonly used technique to stimulate low permeability formations such as shale plays and tight formations.However,this method of well stimulation has also been used in high permeable unconsolidated sandstone formations to bypass near-wellbore formation damage and prevent sand production at some distance apart from the wellbore wall.The treatment is called frac-pack completion,where a short length but wide width fracture is formed by injecting aggressive concentrations of proppant into the fracture plane.This operation is known as tip screen-out(TSO).Detailed design of fluid and proppant,including an optimal pump schedule,is required to achieve satisfactory TSO.In this study,we first assess the lattice-based numerical method's capabilities for simulating hydraulic fracturing propagation in elastoplastic formation.The results will be compared with the same case simulation results using a pseudo 3D(P3D)model and analytical model.Second,we explore the Nolte(1986)design for frac-pack and TSO treatment using lattice-based software and the P3D model.The results showed that both models could simulate the hydraulic fracturing propagation in soft formation and TSO operation,while some differences were observed in generated geometry,the tip screenout time and net pressure profiles.The results are presented.It was noted that fracture propagation regime(viscosity/toughness),nonlocality and nonlinearity had an influence on the different geometries.The advantages of each model will be discussed.

China's agriculture green development: from concept to actions

China has initiated a green transformation plan in 2015, which was soon applied to agriculture, known as the agriculture green development(AGD)initiative, with the goals of achieving food security, high resource use efficiency, and an ecofriendly environment. To assess the agricultural transformation from 1997 to 2020, this paper proposes a national-scale indicator system consisting three dimensions(socioeconomic, food production and eco-environmental) and ten sub-dimensions to quantify the AGD score.This study showed that AGD score in China was at a moderate level during 1997–2010, scoring 40 out of 100. During this stage, decreased scores in the sub-dimensions of resource consumption, environmental quality, and environmental cost have offset the improvement in the socioeconomic dimension, resulting in fluctuated scores around 40. In the second stage(2011–2020), China's AGD score improved but still at moderate level, scoring an average of 46.3, with each dimension increasing by 5.3%–25.0%. These results indicate that China has made progress in the agricultural transformation, transitioning from conceptualization to actions through the implementation of various policies and projects. However, the study emphasizes the need for more effort to address the insufficient and unbalanced development, along with the growing eco-environmental challenges, especially the trade-offs among dimensions.

Study of poverty alleviation strategy based on labor force quality improvement and ecological protection in Western China

Fragile ecological environment and poverty correlate to and reinforce each other closely in Western China.At the same time,Western China is also the most prominent area of the knowledge and human poverty with very low labor force quality.On the basis of analyzing the characteristics of poverty in Western China,this paper studies the coupling relationship between fragile ecological environment and poverty in Western China,including the impacts of fragile environment on poverty occurrence and the effects of ecological construction on poverty alleviation.It also analyzed how low labor quality causes persistent poverty in the western region.At the end of the paper,strategies of diversity poverty alleviation in Western China are suggested based on sustainable development,including education improvement,ecological construction,industries development,infrastructure construction,planning institution innovation,and so on.

Forage breeding and cultivar development:A 50-year perspective

This article represents the perspective of one retired,academic forage breeder and cultivar developer after 50 years of working experience.Developing cultivars that help farmers within pastoral agriculture is the main goal,a system where livestock is the consumer.International Grassland Congress proceedings,as well as the general literature,are historical guides for the state of forage breeding.Efficiency was achieved through technologies;better equipment for planting and harvesting;and advances in computer computation and communication.Biotechnology achievements were fitful and continue to evolve.Cultivar performance mean-reversion,cost to the program,and what the farmer seed buyer was willing to pay are important considerations for applying any technology,especially biotechnologies.Biotech promises were too optimistic.This was due,in part,to a lack of understanding that traditional phenotypic/genotypic field selection programs operate in a complex way with multiple species and several traits screened simultaneously at a modest cost.The majority of current forage cultivars are from field-based selection.Industry participation at scientific conferences declined over time,with less sharing of information the result.Cultivar developers will continue using basic field selection methods but should explore applying any technology;just be clever on when,how,and with whom to use them.Practical advice and experiences are also presented and discussed.

One of the core concepts of park city is from form construction to ecological transformation and sustainable development,and it is also a new construction path proposed to address urban issues in the new era.As an important component of the ecosystem,urban wilderness is based on reconstructing the relationship between humans and nature,and has significant value in enhancing biodiversity,improving ecosystem services,and promoting human physical and mental health.This study proposes that urban wilderness can bring new ecological development models to the development of park city,play an important role in comprehensively improving the urban ecological environment,and further enrich the connotation of park city.Taking Yunshangbali·Exploration Park in Chengdu as an example,this study showcases the multiple values of wilderness through design practice and empowers the construction of park city.
