The study deals with the observation of the changes in the electrical activities of 8 healthy divers in the 80 msw saturation-100 msw excursion heliox dive by DCG. Results showed significant changes in the 24 h of average heart rate, the decrease of heart rate at saturation storage depth and decompression periods being 15.5% and 19.7% respectively. Fortuitous supraventricular premature beats appeared in 8 divers and ventricular premature beats in 5 divers during exposure. Transient ischemic ST-T changes in 6 divers occurred repeatedly during diving operations. The discussion puts up the view that the ST-T changes were due to the stress reaction of the body induced by the combined effect of such stress factors as hyperbaric pressure per se, high partial pressure of oxygen, no.se and the closed restricted chamber environment.

The effect of 1, 25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 (1, 25 (OH)2D3) given in the post-initiation stage of gastric carcino.enesis induced by N-methyl-N-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG) was investigated in male Wistar rats. Gastric carcino.enesis in rats was induced by administration of MNNG (150 mg·L-1) in drinking water. Four weeks after MNNG exposure, the rats were switched to the diet containing 1, 25 (OH)2D3 (2. 5 μg·kg-1 and 5. 0 μg·kg-1) and maintained on the diet. Animals were killed at week 16 and week 32 for immuno.istochemical and histopathological studies. At week 16, the proliferating cell nuclear antingen (PCNA) labeling index in epithelium from the glandular stomach of rats that received 1, 25 (OH)2D3 (5.0 μg·kg-1) in combination with MNNG (150 mg·L-1) were significantly higher when compared with the rats receiving MNNG alone. Supplementation of 1, 25 (OH)2D3 (5. 0 μg·kg-1) in the rats' diet caused a dramatic increase in carcino.a incidence, and the number of individual cancer foci in the glandular stomach of rats receiving MNNG at week 32. It was concluded that certain dose of 1, 25 (OH)2D3 enhanced gastric carcino.enesis induced by MNNG in rats.

Chinese Medicine Syndromes in Congestive Heart Failure:A Literature Study and Retrospective Analysis of Clinical Cases

Objective： To discuss the characteristics of Chinese medicine （CM） syndrome factors and distribution of congestive heart failure （CHF）, and provide a basis for the diagno.is criteria of essential syndromes. Methods： Based on databases of China National Kno.ledge infrastructure （CNKI, 1980--2012） and Chinese Journal of Chongqing VlP Database （1989-2012）, the eligible studies in CHF and extracted factors associated with compound syndromes were analyzed. All the syndromes were classified into deficiency, excess, and deficiency-excess in complexity syndrome were classified. Compound syndromes were separated into syndrome factors including single, double, three or four factors, along with the frequency of occurrence. The relation of CHF syndromes with age, gender, primary disease, brain natriuretic peptide （BNP） and cardiac functional grade was studied in 1,451 CHF cases （between December 2010 and September 2012）, and the clinical distribution of common CHF syndromes was summarized. Results： The literature study involved 6,799 CHF cases in 66 literatures after screening. Of the different factors affecting CHF, qi deficiency was the most important one. In deficiency syndrome, Xin （Heart）-qi-deficiency was the most common single factor, and deficiency of both qi and yin was the most common double factor. The retrospective analysis involved 1,451 CHF cases （431 cases with test results of BNP）. The xin blood stasis and obstruction and deficiency of both qi and yin syndrome were mostly seen in female patients, and phlegm-blocking-Xin-vessel and qi-deficiency-blood-stasis syndrome mostly in males. Xin-qi-deficiency and qi-deficiency-blood-stasis syndrome were mostly seen in patients aged 50--60 years. Patients aged over 60 years likely manifest deficiency of both qi and yin and Xin blood stasis and obstruction syndrome. The severity of syndrome is aggravated with increased BNP and cardiac functional grade. Conclusions： The essential syndromes of CHF include qi-deficiency-blood

Objective To investigate the effects of captopril on cardiac function and levels of energy-rich phosphates in pressure overload induced left ventricular hypertrophy rats. Methods One hundred and twenty SD rats were randomly divided into three groups： sham operation group （SH group, n=40）,coarctation of abdominal aorta group （CAA group, n=40） and captopril treatment lmg~ 100g1 ~ d-1） group （CAP group, n=40）. Left ventricular end-diastolic pressure （LVEDP）, left venh-icular mass index （LVMI）, levels of energy-rich phosphates and morphological changes of the myocardial mitochondria were compared at the 62 and 82 week after operation. Results At 62 week, in CAA group, LVMI and LVEDP were increased and _ dp/dtmax was decreased, while ATP and ADP were decreased and AMP was increased （P〈0.01）. These changes were much obvious at 8th week （P〈0.01）. Compared with those of CAA group, the parameters of heart function and energy-rich phosphates （ATP, ADP, AMP, TAN） in CAP group were improved significantly（P〈0.01） at the 6th and 8th week. In CAP group, the parameters of heart function and energy-rich phosphates （ADP, AMP, TAN） were much better at 8~ week than those at 6th week. The morphological change of mitochondria was less in CAP group than that in CAA group. Conclusion Captopril significantly improves myocardial energy metabolism in pressure overload rats and protects the function of myocardial mitochondria

AIM:To compare the outcome of upper gastrointestinal bleeding(UGIB) between patients receiving restrictive and liberal ***:PubMed,EMBASE,and Cochrane Library databases were employed to identify all relevant randomized controlled trials regarding the outcome of UGIB after restrictive or liberal transfusion. Primary outcomes were death and rebleeding. Secondary outcomes were length of hospitalization,amount of blood transfused,and hematocrit and hemoglobin at discharge or after ***:Overall,4 papers were included in this meta-analysis. The incidence of death was significantly lower in patients receiving restrictive transfusion than those receiving liberal transfusion(OR:0.52,95%CI:0.31-0.87,P = 0.01). The incidence of rebleeding was lower in patients receiving restrictive transfusion than those receiving liberal transfusion,but this difference did no. reach any statistical significance(OR:0.26,95%CI:0.03-2.10,P = 0.21). Compared with those receiving liberal transfusion,patients receiving restrictive transfusion had a significantly shorter length of hospitalization(standard mean difference:-0.17,95%CI:-0.30--0.04,P = 0.009) and a significantly smaller amount of blood transfused(standard mean difference:-0.74,95%CI:-1.15--0.32,P = 0.0005) with a lower hematocrit and hemoglobin level at discharge or after ***:Restrictive transfusion should be employed in patients with UGIB.

no.adays,transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS)has become a mainstay treatment option for the management of portal hypertension-related complications in liver *** evidence has shown that its indications are being gradually ***,less attention has been paid for the selection of an appropriate stent during a TIPS ***,we attempt to review the current evidence regarding the diameter,type,brand,and position of TIPS *** following recommendations may be considered in the clinical practice:(1)a 10-mm stent may be more effective than an 8-mm stent for the management of portal hypertension,and may be superior to a 12-mm stent for the improvement of survival and shunt patency;(2)covered stents are superior to bare stents for reducing the development of shunt dysfunction;(3)if available,Viatorr stent-grafts may be recommended due to a higher rate of shunt patency;and(4)the placement of a TIPS stent in the left portal vein branch may be more reasonable for decreasingthe development of hepatic ***,given relatively low quality of evidence,prospective well-designed studies should be warranted to further confirm these recommendations.

T2 relaxation time measurements in the brains of scalded rats

This study aimed to evaluate the T2 relaxation time of the brain in severely scalded rats using a magnetic resonance （MR） T2 mapping sequence, and to investigate the correlation between T2 relaxation time and plasma glucose level. Twenty-eight Wistar rats were randomly divided into the scalded group （n = 21）and control group （n = 7）. Magnetic resonance scans were performed with T1WI, T2WI, and T2-mapping sequences in the scalded group; the scans were performed 1 day prior to scalding and 1, 3, 5, and 7 days post-scalding; in addition, identical MR scans were performed in the control group at the same time points. T2-maps were generated and T2 relaxation times were acquired from the following brain regions： the hippocampus, thalamus, caudate-putamen, and cerebrum. Pathological changes of the hippocampus were observed. The plasma glucose level of each rat was measured before each MR scan, and a correlation analysis was performed between T2 relaxation time and plasma glucose level. We found that conventional T 1WI and T2WI did no. reveal any abno.mal signals or morphological changes in the hippocampus, thalamus, caudate-putamen,： or cerebrum post-scalding. Both the T2 relaxation times of the selected brain regions and plasma glucose levels increased 1, 3, and 5 days post-scalding, and returned to no.mal levels 7 days post-scalding. The most marked increase of T2 relaxation time was found in the hippocampus; similar changes were also revealed in the thalamus, caudate-putamen, and cerebrum. no.correlation was found between T2 relaxation time and plasma glucose level in scalded rats. Pathological observation of the hippocampus showed edema 1, 3, and 5 days post-scalding, with recovery to no.mal findings at 7 days post-scalding. Thus, we concluded that T2 mapping is a sensitive method for detecting and monitoring scald injury in the rat brain.
