Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of medical abortion of different regimens for termination of pregnancy at 8-16 weeks of gestation. Methods Healthy pregnant women requesting medical abortion at 8-16 weeks＇ gestation within 12 hospitals in Shanghai were randomly allocated to four treatment groups. Three intervention groups were given mifepristone 200 mg as a single dose then 24 h later misoprostol 600 #g at 3 h intervals vaginally, orally or vaginally followed by orally, respectively. Control group was given mifepristone 100 mg for 2 d, followed at 48 h by initiation of misoprostol 600 μg vaginally every 12 h. The primary outcome measures were the successful abortion rate, the induction-to-abortion interval, vaginal bleeding and side effects. Results Efficacy outcomes were analyzed for 1 112 women （92.67%）, excluding 88 protocol violations. Termination successful rates were similar among the four groups from 97.1% to 97.8%. The average dose of misoprostol and the incidence of side effects in control group were lower than those in three intervention groups. Stratified analysis showed that the interval of induction-to-abortion at gestation of 1116 weeks was decreased in control group. Conclusion The four regimens have the similar termination successful rates in spite of different administration intervals or routes. Control group was recommended for the advantages of reduced dose of misoprostol and fewer side effects.

BACKGROUND Patients with Crohn’s disease(CD)are at risk of developing complications such as perianal *** with Crohn’s perianal fistulas(CPF)are affected by fecal incontinence(FI),bleeding,pain,swelling,and purulent perianal discharge,and METHODS This cross-sectional observational study was conducted in patients with CD aged 21-90 years via a web-enabled questionnaire in seven countries(April-August 2021).Patients were recruited into three cohorts:Cohort 1 included patients without perianal fistulas;cohort 2 included patients with perianal fistulas without fistula-related surgery;and cohort 3 included patients with perianal fistulas and fistula-related *** patient-reported outcome measures were used to assess quality of *** of treatment preferences were measured using a discrete choice experiment(DCE).RESULTS In total,929 patients were recruited(cohort 1,n=620;cohort 2,n=174;cohort 3,n=135).Short Inflammatory Bowel Disease Questionnaire scores were worse for patients with CPF(cohorts 2 and 3)than for those with CD without CPF(cohort 1):Mean score 3.8 and 3.7 vs 4.1,respectively,(P<0.001).Similarly,mean Revised FI and FI Quality of Life scores were worse for patients with CPF than for those with CD without *** of Life with Anal Fistula scores were similar in patients with CPF with or without CPF-related surgery(cohorts 2 and 3):Mean score 41 and 42,*** the DCE,postoperative discomfort and fistula healing rate were the most important treatment attributes influencing treatment choice:Mean relative importance 35.7 and 24.7,*** The burden of illness in CD is significantly higher for patients with CPF and patients rate lower postoperative discomfort and higher healing rates as the most desirable treatment attributes.

Epidemiology of School-Related Injuries in belgium. A Better Knowledge for a Better Prevention

The landmark Convention on the Rights of the Child states that children around the World have right to safe environment. In belgium, as in many countries, children spend, on average, 4.5 weekdays at school, during nearly 8 hours per day. Studies have shown that, the risk of school-related injury exceeds the risk during leisure time. Literature reports that school accidents account for 10 to 30% of all accidents among pupils. Despite that, few papers treat of the school-related injuries. Consequently, based on 1540 accidents forms from an insurance company, injury places, mechanisms involved, body parts injured and nature of injuries were described. Head injuries, upper and lower limbs injuries were investigated in more details. Pearson’s chi-square test was used to assess the relationships between the variables and multivariate logistic regression models were used to study the three specific types of injuries cited above. Gender ratio (M/F) was equal to 1.6 with 25.9% of children under 6 years, 29.4% of 6 - 9 years, 26.9% of 10 - 12 years and 17.8% from 13 years or more. The major places of injuries were the playground (56.9%) and the physical education (19.7%). Falls were observed in 52.1% of cases and contacts were reported in 24.3%. The head injuries account for 40.6%, the upper limbs for 32.0% and the lower limbs injuries for 20.2%. The bruises and the scratches were observed in 23.8% and the wounds in 21.5%. Fractures were reported in 16.1%. In conclusion, having a routine access to the data from the insurance companies could be an important source of information for an injury surveillance system in which the school injuries will be included. Taking into account this data will require an awareness of all the concerned persons about the relevance of such a system and a harmonization of the accidental forms.

The aim of this study was to characterize the polyphenolic composition by determination of chemical fingerprints of Methanolic extracts of Ocimum canum Sims, Ocimum basilicum L. and Ocimum gratissimum L. from Democratic Republic of Congo and to compare their antisickling activity of that of rosmarinic acid, the major compound to those of methanolic extracts. Phytochemical analysis performed by TLC and HPLC analysis, showed that rosmarinic acid is the most abundant phenolic acid in these Ocimum species according to the following order O. basilicum L., O. gratissimum L. and O. canum Sims. Methanolic extracts of these three species and pure rosmarinic acid showed significant antisickling activities with minimal concentration of normalization values of 0.18 ± 0.03, 0.23 ± 0.04, 0.26 ± 0.04 and 0.31 ± 0.05 mg/mL for rosmarinic acid, O. basilicum L., O. gratissimum L. and O. canum Sims methanolic extracts respectively. The antisickling activity order is the same as that of the rosmarinic acid content, indicating that this polyphenolic acid would be among the main active molecules in these extracts.

Biobased adsorbents are eco-friendly materials used for water and wastewater treatment and air *** research work explores the potential use of rice husk chars as a low-cost adsorbent for pollutants from water,such as methylene blue and *** husk chars are prepared by combustion of rice husks(RH-Char)or pre-treated rice husks(PT-Char).A third char(M-Char)supplied by a local company which uses rice husks as combustion material is also *** chars are characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy(FE-SEM)in conjunction with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX),X-ray powder diffraction(XRD),and zeta-potential *** three bio-chars are tested as adsorbent for the removal of two wastewater contaminants:methylene blue(MB)and ethinylestradiol(EE2).According to the results,RH-Char and PT-Char present zeta-potential values near−52 mV,whereas M-Char shows a zeta-potential value of−32 *** RH-Char and PTChar are rich in amorphous SiO_(2) and M-Char has crystalline SiO_(2)(cristobalite).The bio-chars remove MB and EE2 efficiently showing the following results for the adsorption capacity of MB(inμmol g^(−1)):769.2(RH-Char),41.2(PT-Char),and 31.7(M-Char).The adsorption capacity values for EE2(inμmol g^(−1))are:33.1(RH-Char),19.1(PT-Char),and 16.9(M-Char).The information gathered in the present work evidences the potential of rice husks bio-chars for bio-remediation and may in future contribute to the conversion of a side-stream from the rice industry into value-added materials.

There has been a growing appreciation for freezing of gait as a disabling symptom that causes a significant burden in Parkinson’s disease. Previous research has highlighted some of the key components that underlie the phenomenon, but these reductionist approaches have yet to lead to a paradigm shift resulting in the development of novel treatment strategies. Addressing this issue will require greater integration of multi-modal data with complex computational modeling, but there are a number of critical aspects that need to be considered before embarking on such an approach. This paper highlights where the field needs to address current gaps and shortcomings including the standardization of definitions and measurement, phenomenology and pathophysiology, as well as considering what available data exist and how future studies should be constructed to achieve the greatest potential to better understand and treat this devastating symptom.
