Scouring experiments were conducted using a three-dimensional laser scanning technology for angles of the jet spanning the interval from 0°to 30°,and the characteristics of the scour hole in equilibrium conditions were investigated *** results indicate that the optimal scouring effects occur when the jet angle is in the ranges between 15°and 20°.Moreover,the dimensionless profiles of the scour hole exhibit a high degree of similarity at different jet *** simulations conducted using the Flow-3D software to investigate the bed shear stress along the jet impingement surface have shown that this stress is influenced by both the resultant force and the jet impingement surface *** reaches its maximum value when the jet is vertical,decreases rapidly as the jet starts to tilt,then increases slightly,and decreases again significantly when the angle exceeds 20°.

To avoid resource wastage and secondary environmental pollution,recycling and reusing waste wood powder is still a great ***,the poor viscosity and irregular pore size of wood powder limit its practical *** study,employed a green and convenient wood powder reconstitution strategy to achieve highly adhesive bonding and pore size control between wood powder particles,thus preparing a high-strength and super hydrophilic wood powder *** wood powder fibers were partially dissolved and regenerated to create a reconstituted wood powder hydrogel membrane,using waste wood powder as the raw *** wood powder reconstitution strategy offers advantages such as environmental friendliness,simplicity,cost-effectiveness,and strong ***,the materials exhibit excellent self-cleaning properties and *** by gravity,the membrane can purify oily wastewater and ***,the reconstitution strategy offers a new pathway for recycling wood powder.

To realize the application of the floating offshore wind turbine(FOWT)from deep to relatively shallow waters,a new concept of multi-column floating wind turbine platform with low center of gravity(CG)is designed and *** multi-column low CG platform is designed to support a 6MW wind turbine class and operated at a water depth of 50m in the South China *** frequency domain software WADAM and time domain software NREL-FAST are used to simulate coupled dynamic responses of the floating wind turbine system with second-order wave loads *** dynamic behaviors of multi-column low CG FOWT system under normal operation and parked conditions are *** influence of second-order wave force on the motion responses of the multi-column platform,fore-aft force and moment of the tower base and mooring force are researched *** results demonstrate that the coupled dynamic responses at rated operating condition and extreme condition meet the normal operating requirements and extreme survival requirements of FOWT system in the shallow water(50m)of South China *** addition,it is found that,the wave frequency response gradually replaces the second-order low frequency response as the main influencing factor of the coupled dynamic response of the FOWT system with the increasing severity of the sea ***,in general,the magnitude of second-order low frequency response increases with the increasing severity of the design load ***,in the subsequent design of the shallow water FOWT system,the second-order effects should be paid enough attention.

An entirely new framework is established for developing various single- and multi-step formulations for the numerical integration of ordinary differential equations. Besides polynomials, unconventional base-functions with trigonometric and exponential terms satisfying different conditions are employed to generate a number of formulations. Performances of the new schemes are tested against well-known numerical integrators for selected test cases with quite satisfactory results. Convergence and stability issues of the new formulations are not addressed as the treatment of these aspects requires a separate work. The general approach introduced herein opens a wide vista for producing virtually unlimited number of formulations.

A generalized form of the error function, Gp(x)=pΓ(1/p)∫0xe−tpdt, which is directly associated with the gamma function, is evaluated for arbitrary real values of p>1and 0x≤+∞by employing a fast-converging power series expansion developed in resolving the so-called Grandi’s paradox. Comparisons with accurate tabulated values for well-known cases such as the error function are presented using the expansions truncated at various orders.

Finite Element Analysis of Tubular KK Joint under Compressive Loading

KK tubular joints are used to build jacket-type offshore structures. These joints are mostly made up of structural steel. These joints can withstand yield, buckling, and lateral loads depending on the structure’s design and environment. In this study, the Finite Element Model of the KK-type tubular joint has been created, and analysis has been performed under static loading using the Static Structural analysis system of ANSYS 19.2 commercial software and structural mechanics module of COMSOL Multiphysics. The KK tubular model is analyzed under compressive load conditions, and the resulting stress, strain, and deformation values are tabulated in both graphical and tabular form. This study includes a comparison of the outcomes from both commercial software. The results highlight that maximum stress, strain, and deformation values decrease as joint thickness increases. This study holds significant relevance in advancing the understanding of tubular KK joints and their response to compressive loading. The insights derived from the analysis have the potential to contribute to the development of more robust and reliable tubular KK joints in various engineering and structural applications. .

Fishing boats have unique features that make them prone to changing loading *** the boat leaves the port,the empty fish tank gradually fills up during fishing operations which may result in parametric roll(PR).This dangerous phenomenon that can lead to *** present study aims to understand better the behaviour of parametric roll in fishing boats and its relation to changing loading *** study considers the effects of displacement and the GM/KM ratio on parametric roll,as well as the longitudinal flare distribution at the *** assessments to detect the parametric roll occurrence in early stage were carried out by using the level 1 assessment of parametric roll based on the Second Generation of Intact Stability criteria(SGIS)from International maritime Organisation(IMO)and the Susceptibility criteria of Parametric roll from the American Bureau of Shipping(ABS).Then,the CFD method is used to predict the amplitude of the parametric roll *** results provide important insights to fishing vessel operators on how to manage loading conditions to maintain stability and avoid hazardous *** following the guidelines outlined in this study,fishing boats can operate more safely and efficiently,reducing the risk of accidents and improving the overall sustainability of the fishing industry.

Air pollution from shipping is becoming a critical issue,particularly in dense hub port *** proposed solution to minimize ship-based emissions at ports is the implementation of an Onshore Power Supply(OPS)*** allows ships to shut off their auxiliary engines and instead connect to the port *** there have been numerous studies conducted on ports in Europe and the United States,little research has been done on Egyptian ***,this paper aims to investigate the feasibility of implementing OPS at Port Said West Port in Egypt,aligning with Egypt Vision 2030’s goals for addressing climate *** research primarily focuses on analyzing data collected from calling ships to generate socio-economic and cost-effectiveness analyses of *** further enhance the environmental benefits of OPS,the paper proposes the use of solar energy as the OPS electricity *** findings of the study revealed that by relying on the national grid,emissions can be reduced by 28%.Moreover,it is predicted that this reduction could reach 100%if electricity generation is solely based on solar ***,the economic analysis demonstrates promising profitability,with a payback period of approximately two years.
