Objective:To assess efficacy of albendazole against Ascaris(A.)lumbricoides among school-children at three sites of Rajahmundry,Sundergarh and ***:Sites were selected based on soil-transmitted helminths prevalence,different sociocultural-geographical characteristics and operational feasibility.9-12 Years old children from 14 schools were *** study was conducted in two rounds:baseline&follow up *** eligible children found positive for *** at baseline were administered supervised single tablet albendazole 400 mg under the national Deworming Day *** post-treatment follow-up survey,eligible children who provided second stool sample were included in the final *** samples were examined using WHO recommended Kato-Katz *** was estimated based on cure rate(CR)and Fecal Egg Count Reduction Rate(FECRR)among children found positive in baseline and follow-up ***:328 Out of 625(52.5%)were found positive for *** in the baseline survey and 85 out of 178 samples(47.8%)during post-treatment follow-up ***,the estimated CR was 52.2%.FECRR(95%CI)for albendazole was 72.6%(79.2%-66.0%).The FECRR was highest in East Godaveri[89.7%(96.8%-82.6%)],followed by Sundergarh[86.4%(95.3%-77.5%)]and Wayanad[69%(81.7%-56.4%)].Conclusions:Our study confirmed overall reduction in FEC although with varying albendazole efficacy for *** infection at three different locations in ***,these finding may be assessed in context of ongoing MDA under Filaria control program and further studies by in vivo as well as in vitro methods are required to reach to a conclusion on possible resistance if any.

Introduction:Many measures implemented to control the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic have reshaped the epidemic patterns of other infectious *** study estimated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on respiratory and intestinal infectious diseases and potential changes following ***:The optimal intervention and counterfactual models were selected from the seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average(SARIMA),neural network autoregression(NNAR),and hybrid models based on the minimum mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)in the test *** relative change rate between the actual notification rate and that predicted by the optimal model was calculated for the entire COVID-19 epidemic prevention period and the“reopening”***:Compared with the predicted notification rate based on the counterfactual model,the total relative change rates for the 9 infectious diseases were−44.24%,respiratory infections(−55.41%),and intestinal infections(−26.59%)during 2020–*** with the predicted notification rate based on the intervention model,the total relative change rates were+247.98%,respiratory infections(+389.59%),and intestinal infections(+50.46%)in *** them,the relative increases in influenza(+499.98%)and hand-foot-mouth disease(HFMD)(+70.97%)were ***:Measures taken in Jiangsu Province in response to COVID-19 effectively constrained the spread of respiratory and intestinal infectious *** and HFMD rebounded significantly after the lifting of COVID-19 intervention restrictions.

Vector-borne viruses, transmitted among humans and animal hosts through bites of vectors such as mosquitoes and ticks,pose a great and ongoing threat to public health and biosafety (Yang et al., 2022).Among them, dengue virus-induced epidemics, have dramatically increased worldwide in recent decades. The report released by the World Health Organization (WHO) at the end of 2023 showed that dengue epidemic globally surged in2023, with the number of reported cases nearing a historical peak.

Rate and Change in Household Solid Fuels Usage Among Residents Aged 40 and Older — China, from 2014–2015 to 2019–2020

Introduction:Solid fuel combustion is a significant source of household air pollution and an important risk factor for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).This study presents the rates and change in the use of solid fuels for cooking and heating in ***:Based on data from the Chinese Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Surveillance,the research estimated the rates and change of solid fuels usage for cooking and heating from 2014–2015 to 2019–2020 and the rate of primary cooking solid fuels usage in 2019–2020,and analyzed the association between solid fuels usage and ***:The rates of solid fuels usage for cooking and heating significantly decreased,dropping from 45.3%to 28.0%and from 33.5%to 23.2%,*** rates were higher among rural residents,with 47.2%using it for cooking and 37.7%for heating in *** usage of solid fuels for cooking is associated with increased risk of *** rural residents,combined usage of biomass and coal for cooking(OR=1.29,95%CI:1.12,1.48)and using coal as primary fuel for cooking(OR=1.18,95%CI:1.00,1.38)are associated with higher risk of *** usage of biomass for cooking is associated with an increased risk of COPD in urban residents(OR=1.17,95%CI:1.03,1.32).Conclusions:The study demonstrates a significant decline in the use of household solid ***,high utilization rates persist among individuals in rural settings and those from lower socioeconomic *** is of great public health importance to propose targeted fuel substitution measures for various solid fuels in different regions to reduce the risk of COPD.
