Higher Himalayan Crystalline（HHC） complex of the Sikkim Himalaya predominantly consists of high-grade pelitic *** this study,reaction textures,mineral/bulk rare earth elements （REE）,trace element partition coefficients and trace element zoning profiles in garnet are used to demonstrate a complex petrogenetic process during crustal *** the help of equilibrium REE and trace element partitioning model,it is shown that strong enrichment of Effective Bulk Composition（EBC） is responsible for the zoning in garnet in these *** data strongly support disequilibrium element partitioning and suggest that the anatectic melts associated with mafic selvedges are likely produced by disequilibrium melting because of fast melt segregation process.

Grain character analysis of beach sediments along three selected beaches(Pavinkurve,Kundapura and Padukare)of Karnataka coast,west coast of India is carried out in the present *** objective was to identify the textural behavior of beach sediments during an annual cycle from March 2008 to February *** characteristics such as central tendency,sorting,kurtosis and skewness were estimated using GRADISTAT and *** maximum(62%)sediment samples were medium sand with unimodal and bimodal characters at all the three *** median values varied in between-0.04φand 2.74φwith an average value of 1.61φ.The beaches were characterized as well sorted,moderately well sorted and moderately sorted sediment *** were identified as fine skewed to coarse skewed with platykurtic,mesokurtic and leptokurtic characters. Grain characteristics varied spatially and temporally along with beach orientation,foreshore slope and wave action.A negative correlation between mean and sorting is identified for maximum number samples along the study region but not very *** study shows that the sedimentary environment at Kundapura were influenced by relatively high wave action compared to Padukare and Pavinkurve beach and the beaches were under erosion or non-deposition with strong winnowing process.

In the process of interpreting simulation results,new post-processing techniques are *** work presents a post-processing method that analyzes the solidification pattern formed by simulation of the solidification process of molten metal in a mold to produce shaped *** generally involve numerical solutions of differential equations which are discretized by dividing the three-dimensional computational domain into small finite volume elements using a 3D *** locations of the grid points and values of the solidification time at these locations are used to divide the spatial data into 3D sections such that starting from a hotspot location within the section that has high solidification time,there is a gradient outwards with lower values of solidification *** section is assumed to be fed by one or more feeders that must freeze only after the section has solidified *** volume of a feeder can be determined from the volume of the section it is supposed to *** volume and surface area of sections are determined approximately to calculate feeder size and *** post-processing algorithm is a simulation-based quantitative approach to feeder design which in conventional foundry practice has been more of an art than *** is also general enough for use in other 3D segmentation applications.

Comparison of Different Extraction Approaches for Heavy Metal Partitioning in Sediment Samples

Three extraction methods, ultrasonic assisted extraction (USE), microwave assisted extraction (MSE), and conventional single extraction (CSE), in conjunction with the modified three-stage BCR sequential extraction procedure (SEP) were applied to examine the contents of Cd, Cu, Cr, Ni, Pb and Zn from lake sediment samples, to know whether these techniques can reduce extraction time and improve reproducibility. The SEP and developed alternative single extrac- tion methods were validated by the analysis of certified reference material BCR 601. By the use of optimized sonication and microwave conditions, steps 1, 2 and 3 of the BCR sequential extraction methods (excluding the hydrogen peroxide digestion in step 3, which was not performed with sonication and microwave) could be completed in 15-30 min and 60- 150 s, respectively. The recoveries of total extractable metal contents in BCR 601, obtained by three single extractions ranged from 93.3%-102%, 88.9%-104% and 81.2%-96.2% for CSE, USE and MSE, respectively. The precision of the single extraction methods was found in the range of 3.7%-9.4% for all metals (n = 6).

Nowadays, more and more users share real-time news and information in micro-blogging communities such as Twitter, Tumblr or Plurk. In these sites, information is shared via a followers/followees social network structure in which a follower will receive all the micro-blogs from the users he/she follows, named followees. With the increasing number of registered users in this kind of sites, finding relevant and reliable sources of information becomes essential. The reduced number of characters present in micro-posts along with the informal language commonly used in these sites make it difficult to apply standard content-based approaches to the problem of user recommendation. To address this problem, we propose an algorithm for recommending relevant users that explores the topology of the network considering different factors that allow us to identify users that can be considered good information sources. Experimental evaluation conducted with a group of users is reported, demonstrating the potential of the approach.

Increasing energy cost calls for exterior coatings with high near infra-red reflectance,so as to reduce heat absorption and in turn cost of *** modulations of substrate,use of white metal oxides as pigments or under-layers has been reported in past,reports on metal oxide or doped metal oxide pigments with high NIR reflectance is *** report for the first time a blue colored cobalt aluminate type pigment prepared through doping of cerium,praseodymium or *** color measurements and calculation ofDE indicated that the Nd doped sample had crystal size of(36±1)nm,bandgap value of(2.4±0.2)eV and color coordinates similar to that of cobalt *** molar ratio as estimated by EDX was found to be Al:Cu:Co:Ce:Nd:O=2:0.06:0.06:0.012:0.00012:*** pigment was found to have potential applications as a cool blue colorant,owing to changes in optical properties arising out of crystal chemistry *** of rare earth metal ions was found to enhance the NIR reflectance by 10%,when compared to a conventional cobalt aluminate *** oxide has been well characterized and its performance as a pigment *** have proposed that changes in crystal lattice when neodymium enters into Ce4+sites enhance the NIR reflectance by about 9%as against the entry of praseodymium.

In this article,we commented on the work done by Jiang et al,where they syn-thesized a kakkatin derivative,6-(hept-6-yn-1-yloxy)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-7-me-thoxy-4H-chromen-4-one(HK),and investigated its antitumor activities and me-chanism in gastric cancer MGC803 and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)SMMC-7721 *** was evaluated for its antitumor activity as compared to kakkatin and *** article focused on various risk factors of HCC,the mechanism of HCC progression and molecular targets of the kakkatin derivative,and limi-tations of available treatment *** is a predominant form of primary liver cancer characterized by the accumulation of multiple gene modifications,overexpression of protooncogenes,altered immune microenvironment,and infilt-ration by immune *** flos(PF)has been used in traditional medicine in China,Korea,and Japan for lung clearing,spleen awakening,and relieving alcohol *** exerts antitumor activity by inhibiting cancer cell prolif-eration,invasion,and *** induces apoptosis in alcoholic HCC via the estrogen-receptor 1-extracellular signal-regulated kinases 1/2 signaling *** isolated from PF is known as a hepatoprotective *** ka-kkatin derivative,HK,exhibited anticancer activity against HCC cell lines by in-hibiting cell proliferation and upregulating nuclear factor kappa B subunit 1 and phosphodiesterase ***,further preclinical and clinical studies are required to establish its therapeutic potential against HCC.

The research work has been done in the field of social and organizational psychology. It is aim to analyze the factors which influence the levels of satisfaction and achievement reached by those working for scientific organizations and their relationship with professional mobility （Andrews, Aichholzer, Cole, Mittermeir, Stole-Heiskanen, UNESCO--United Nations Educational, scientific and Cultural Organization, 1971） [1]. A stratified sample was taken from universities and different disciplines, based on a population of teachers from the Cuyo region （N = 355 R ＋ D-research ＆ Development Units）（5% error margin）. At this first stage, the research teachers were from Universidad Nacional de Cuyo （N = 53 research Units）： one chief or director and members. Quantitative techniques were used （two questionnaires）. The results show that researchers＇ satisfaction at different levels is connected with professional mobility and disciplinary fields. Regarding leadership, and considering professional mobility, a general feeling of satisfaction emerges among researchers, regardless of their disciplinary field.

Nanostructural Features and Optical Performance of RF Magnetron Sputtered ZnO Thin Films

Zinc oxide （ZnO） thin films were grown on silicon substrate by RF （radio frequency） magnetron *** topography of these films exhibited a nanostructured granular appearance with the size of individual grains between 50 to 100 *** cross-sectional electron micrographs revealed columnar grains in the form of aggregated nanorods/wires with length of about 500 nm,similar to the thickness of these thin films of ZnO nucleated and grown vertically on the silicon *** resolution lattice scale imaging using high resolution transmission electron microscope （HRTEM） elucidated the single crystalline 1010 planes of hexagonal-ZnO constituting the columnar grains with the individual nanorod diameter between 3 and 4 *** photoluminescence measurements showed the prominent emission peak at around 460 nm for the blue band,normally attributed to intrinsic defects in particular interstitial zinc （Zn）.These films were further characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR）,Raman spectroscopy and electron paramagnetic resonance （EPR） to evaluate various aspects on preferred growth orientations,band structures and vibrational modes originated in such fascinating nano-grained thin films of *** present investigations inferred that these films are advantageous in various potential applications for fabricating nano-scaled devices.
