Surface acoustic wave(SAW) resonators with an ultrahigh Q-factor are designed and fabricated on silicon-based gallium nitride(GaN/Si). The temperature-dependent performance is characterized over a wide range, from 10 to 500 K. Finite element analysis is employed to guide the design of the SAW resonator from indications of the Rayleigh mode and weak propagation direction dependence of SAW in the c-plane of GaN/Si. The SAW resonator with 100 pairs of interdigital transducers(IDT), 100 pairs of grating reflectors(GR) for each side, aperture size of 80 μm, metallization ratio of 0.5, and electrode width of 500 nm resonates at 1.9133 GHz accordingly with an ultrahigh Q-factor of 7622 at room temperature, which contributes the fr× Qr, up to 14.583×1012Hz. A resonator operating over 10 to 500 K indicates an approximately linear decreasing temperature dependence above 280 K while being approximately constant below 40 K. The fitting to resonator characteristics using the modified Butterworth Van Dyke(m BVD) model reveals a reduction in both the electrode and mechanical losses while worsening the dielectric loss with cooling down.

Background: Somatic copy number variations (SCNVs) in theCDKN2A gene are among the most frequent events in the dysplasia-carcinoma sequence of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. However, whetherCDKN2A SCNVs are useful biomarkers for the risk stratification and management of patients with esophageal squamous cell dysplasia (ESCdys) is unknown. This study aimed to investigate the characteristics and prognostic value ofCDKN2A SCNVs in patients with mild or moderate (m/M) ESCdys.Methods: This study conducted a prospective multicenter study of 205 patients with a baseline diagnosis of m/M ESCdys in five high-risk regions of China (Ci County, Hebei Province; Yanting, Sichuan Province; Linzhou, Henan Province; Yangzhong, Jiangsu Province; and Feicheng, Shandong Province) from 2005 to 2019. Genomic DNA was extracted from paraffin biopsy samples and paired peripheral white blood cells from patients, and a quantitative polymerase chain reaction assay, P16-Light, was used to detectCDKN2A copy number. The cumulative regression and progression rates of ESCdys were evaluated using competing risk models.Results: A total of 205 patients with baseline m/M ESCdys were enrolled. The proportion of ESCdys regression was significantly lower in theCDKN2A deletion cohort than in the diploid and amplification cohorts (18.8% [13/69]vs. 35.0% [28/80]vs. 51.8% [29/56],P <0.001). In the univariable competing risk analysis, the cumulative regression rate was statistically significantly lower (P = 0.008), while the cumulative progression rate was higher (P = 0.017) in ESCdys patients withCDKN2A deletion than in those withoutCDKN2A deletion.CDKN2A deletion was also an independent predictor of prognosis in ESCdys (P = 0.004) in the multivariable analysis.Conclusion: The results indicated thatCDKN2A SCNVs are associated with the prognosis of ESCdys and may serve as potential biomarkers for risk stratification.

natural products (NPs) have consistently played a pivotal role in pharmaceutical research, exerting profound impactson the treatment of human diseases. A significant proportion of approved molecular entity drugs are either directly derived from NPs orindirectly through modifications of NPs. This review presents an overview of NP drugs recently approved in China, the United States,and other countries, spanning various disease categories, including cancers, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, centralnervous system disorders, and infectious diseases. The article provides a succinct introduction to the origin, activity, development process, approval details, and mechanism of action of these NP drugs.

Enrichment of anammox biomass during mainstream wastewater treatment driven by achievement of partial denitrification through the addition of bio-carriers

Anammox is widely considered as the most cost-effective and sustainable process for nitrogen removal.However,how to achieve the enrichment of anammox biomass remains a challenge for its large-scale application,especially in mainstream wastewater treatment.In this study,the feasibility of enrichment of anammox biomass was explored through the realization of partial denitrification and the addition of bio-carriers.By using ordinary activated sludge,a sequencing batch reactor(SBR)followed by an up-fow anaerobic sludge bed(UASB)was operated at 25±2℃ for 214 days.The long-term operation was divided into five phases,in which SBR and UASB were started-up in Phases I and II,respectively.By eliminating oxygen and adjusting the infow ratios in Phases III-V,advanced nitrogen removal was achieved with the effuent total nitrogen being 4.7 mg/L and the nitrogen removal efficiency being 90.5%in Phase V.Both in-situ and ex-situ activity tests demonstrated the occurrence of partial denitrification and anammox.Moreover,16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing analysis revealed that Candidatus Brocadia was enriched from below the detection limit to in biofilms(0.4%in SBR,2.2%in UASB)and the foc sludge(0.2%in SBR,1.3%in UASB),while Thauera was mainly detected in the foc sludge(8.1%in SBR,8.8%in UASB),which might play a key role in partial denitrification.Overall,this study provides a novel strategy to enrich anammox biomass driven by rapid achievement of partial denitrification through the addition of bio-carriers,which will improve large-scale application of anammox processes in mainstream wastewater treatment.

Developing a mucosal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 is critical for combatting the epidemic.Here,we investigated long-term immune responses and protection against SARS-CoV-2 for the intranasal vaccination of a triple receptor-binding domain(RBD)scaffold protein(3R-NC)adjuvanted with a flagellin protein(KFD)(3R-NC+KFDi.n).In mice,the vaccination elicited RBD-specific broad-neutralizing antibody responses in both serum and mucosal sites sustained at high level over a year.This long-lasting humoral immunity was correlated with the presence of long-lived RBD-specific IgG-and IgA-producing plasma cells,alongside the Th17 and Tfh17-biased T-cell responses driven by the KFD adjuvant.Based upon these preclinical findings,an open labeled clinical trial was conducted in individuals who had been primed with the inactivated SARS-CoV-2(IAV)vaccine.With a favorable safety profile,the 3R-NC+KFDi.n boost elicited enduring broad-neutralizing IgG in plasma and IgA in salivary secretions.To meet the challenge of frequently emerged variants,we further designed an updated triple-RBD scaffold protein with mutated RBD combinations,which can induce adaptable antibody responses to neutralize the newly emerging variants,including JN.1.Our findings highlight the potential of the KFD-adjuvanted triple-RBD scaffold protein is a promising prototype for the development of a mucosal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Bone formation and deposition are initiated by sensory nerve infiltration in adaptive bone remodeling. Here, we focused on the role of Semaphorin 3A(Sema3A), expressed by sensory nerves, in mechanical loads-induced bone formation and nerve withdrawal using orthodontic tooth movement(OTM) model. Firstly, bone formation was activated after the 3rd day of OTM,coinciding with a decrease in sensory nerves and an increase in pain threshold. Sema3A, rather than nerve growth factor(NGF),highly expressed in both trigeminal ganglion and the axons of periodontal ligament following the 3rd day of OTM. Moreover, in vitro mechanical loads upregulated Sema3A in neurons instead of in human periodontal ligament cells(hPDLCs) within 24 hours.Furthermore, exogenous Sema3A restored the suppressed alveolar bone formation and the osteogenic differentiation of hPDLCs induced by mechanical overload. Mechanistically, Sema3A prevented overstretching of F-actin induced by mechanical overload through ROCK2 pathway, maintaining mitochondrial dynamics as mitochondrial fusion. Therefore, Sema3A exhibits dual therapeutic effects in mechanical loads-induced bone formation, both as a pain-sensitive analgesic and a positive regulator for bone formation.

Background Surgery plays an important role in the treatment of neuroblastoma.Perioperative complications may impact the course of neuroblastoma treatment.To date,comprehensive analyses of complications and risk factors have been lacking.Methods Patients with retroperitoneal neuroblastoma undergoing tumor resection were retrospectively analyzed between 2014 and 2021.The data collected included clinical characteristics,operative details,operative complications and postopera-tive outcomes.Risk factors for perioperative complications of retroperitoneal neuroblastoma were analyzed.Results A total of 571 patients were enrolled in this study.Perioperative complications were observed in 255(44.7%)patients.Lymphatic leakage(28.4%),diarrhea(13.5%),and injury(vascular,nerve and organ;7.5%)were the most frequent compli-cations.There were three operation-related deaths(0.53%):massive hemorrhage(n=1),biliary tract perforation(n=1)and intestinal necrosis(n=1).The presence of image-defined risk factors(IDRFs)[odds ratio(OR)=2.09,Pnational Neuroblastoma Risk Group staging system(INRGSS)(OR=0.454,P=0.04),retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis(OR=2.433,P=0.026),superior mesenteric artery encasement(OR=3.346,P=0.003),and inferior mesenteric artery encasement(OR=2.218,P=0.019)were identified as independent risk factors for perioperative complications.Conclusions Despite the high incidence of perioperative complications,the associated mortality rate was quite low.Perio-perative complications of retroperitoneal neuroblastoma were associated with IDRFs,INRGSS,retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis and vascular encasement.Patients with high-risk factors should receive more serious attention during surgery but should not discourage the determination to pursue total resection of neuroblastoma.

5q spinal muscular atrophy (5qSMA) is an autosomal recessive neuromuscular disorder caused by the lack of the survival motor neuron (SMN) protein encoded by the SMN1 gene, located at 5q11.2-q13.3.[1] The incidence is 1/10,000-1/6000 live births, and the mutation carrier rate in China is 1/42.[1] Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is mainly divided into four subtypes: SMA type I, II, III, and IV, based on the motor milestones ever achieved. Types I-III occur in children,[1] which often result in progressive muscular atrophy and weakness as well as multi-system dysfunction, including nutritional and metabolic issues.[2] Children with SMA may have hidden nutritional and lipid imbalances, despite normal body appearance and anthropometric measurements, making it difficult to detect early and intervene. Fewer studies have elucidated both the nutritional status and lipid metabolism in SMA patients,[2] especially in Asia, which may have some of the highest numbers of SMA patients in the world. To inform the development of targeted nutritional management strategies, this study aimed to investigate the nutritional status and serum lipid profile characteristics in children with SMA, based on a hospital-based case-control study in China. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (No. 2019-IRB-171). Written informed consent was obtained from all the patients and their legal guardians.

Lamprophyres typically appear in hydrothermal gold deposits.The relationship between lamprophyres and gold deposits is investigated widely.Some researchers suggest that the emplacement of lamprophyres triggers gold mineralization,whereas others hypothesize that the formation of lamprophyres increases the fertility of mantle sources and ore-forming fluids.K-feldspar veins,with ages between those of lamprophyres and gold deposits,appear in lamprophyres in Zhenyuan.Therefore,K-feldspar veins are ideal for investigating the relationship between lamprophyres and gold deposits.Phlogopite in K-feldspar veins has lower Mg#,Ni,and Cr contents and higher TiO2,Li,Ba,Sr,Sc,Zr,Nb,and Cs contents than phlogopite in lamprophyres.The in-situ Sr isotopic values of apatites(0.7063–0.7066)in K-feldspar veins are within the range for apatites(0.7064–0.7078)from lamprophyres.High large-ion lithophile element concentrations and low Nb and Ta concentrations in phlogopite from lamprophyres,in addition to high(87Sr/86Sr)i values of apatite(0.7064–0.7078),indicate that the magma parental to these phlogopite and apatite crystals is derived from an enriched mantle.Kfeldspar veins are genetically correlated with lamprophyres,whereas sulfide mineral assemblage and trace element compositions of pyrite in K-feldspar veins suggest that K-feldspar veins in lamprophyres are not directly related to gold mineralization of the Zhenyuan deposit.

Because of its high mobility and difficult capture,gaseous arsenic pollution control has become the focus of arsenic pollution control.It mainly exists in the form of highly toxic As_(2)O_(3)in the flue gas.Therefore,removing gaseous As_(2)O_(3)from flue gas is of great practical significance for arsenic pollution control.Stabilizing gaseous As_(2)O_(3)on the surface of adsorbents by physical or chemical adsorption is an effective way to reduce the content of arsenic in the flue gas and alleviate arsenic pollution.Over the past few decades,various adsorbents have been developed to capture gaseous As_(2)O_(3)in the flue gas,and their adsorption mechanisms have been studied in detail.Thus,it is necessary to review the strategies of arsenic removal from flue gas by adsorption,which can inspire further research.Based on summarizing the morphological distribution of gaseous As_(2)O_(3)in the flue gas,this review further summarizes the removal of gaseous As_(2)O_(3)by several adsorbents and the effect of temperature and the main components of the flue gas on arsenic adsorption.In addition,the mechanism of arsenic removal based on adsorption in the flue gas is discussed in depth through theoretical calculations,which is the particular focus of this review.Finally,prospects based on the present research state of arsenic removal by adsorption are proposed to provide ideas for developing effective and stable adsorbents for arsenic removal from flue gas.
