Semitransparent organic photovoltaics(STOPVs)have gained wide attention owing to their promising applications in building-integrated photovoltaics,agrivoltaics,and floating *** semiconductors with high charge carrier mobility usually have planar and conjugated structures,thereby showing strong absorption in visible *** this work,a new concept of incorporating transparent inorganic semiconductors is proposed for high-performance ***(I)thiocyanate(CuSCN)is a visible-transparent inorganic semiconductor with an ionization potential of 5.45 eV and high hole *** transparency of CuSCN benefits high average visible transmittance(AVT)of *** energy levels of CuSCN as donor match those of near-infrared small molecule acceptor BTP-eC9,and the formed heterojunction exhibits an ability of exciton *** mobility of CuSCN contributes to a more favorable charge transport channel and suppresses charge *** control STOPVs based on PM6/BTP-eC9 exhibit an AVT of 19.0%with a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 12.7%.Partial replacement of PM6 with CuSCN leads to a 63%increase in transmittance,resulting in a higher AVT of 30.9%and a comparable PCE of 10.8%.

On the Analytical Models of Protoplanetary Formation in Extrasolar Systems

In this work,we consider a statistical theory for a cosmogonical body formation(so-called spheroidal body)to develop the analytical models of protoplanetary formation in extrasolar *** the framework of this theory,the models and evolution equations of the statistical mechanics have been proposed,while the well-known problem of gravitational condensation of infinite distributed cosmic substances has been *** paper derives the general equation of distribution of the specific angular momentum of forming protoplanets since the specific angular momentums(for particles or planetesimals)are averaged during a conglomeration process(under a planetary embryo formation).As a result,a new law for planetary distances(which generalizes Schmidt’s law)is derived *** paper develops also an alternative thermal emission of particles model of the formation of protoplanets in extrasolar *** the framework of this model,the equation for the thermal distribution function of the specific angular momentums of particles moving in elliptical orbits in the gravitational field is *** to this thermal escape model,only 0.8%of the total number of particles in the solar system composing the protoplanetary cloud has angular momentum 15.6 times higher than the angular momentum of the remaining 99%of *** conclusion agrees completely with the known fact of a nonuniform distribution of the angular momentums in our solar system noted by ter *** pointed out here,the exponential laws of planetary distances occur in some extrasolar systems.

Regularities of Nanofocusing of the Electromagnetic Field of a Fractal Rough Surface

A consistent physical and mathematical model of the propagation of electromagnetic waves in an inhomogeneous medium with strong discontinuities of the electromagnetic field at the interface of two media, which is a rough surface, was developed. Mathematical modeling of rough surfaces and their profiles was carried out using fractal geometry, which allows us to display the topology of the object as close as possible to reality. For real heterogeneous rough structures, we have developed a through-counting method that takes into account the continuity of the total current at the interfaces of adjacent media, the effect of induced surface charge and surface current. This approach lets one avoid the necessity to set surface impedances depending on the structure of the field being determined and on the material properties.

Web Portal for Photonic Technologies Using Grid Infrastructures

The modeling of physical processes is an integral part of scientific and technical research. In this area, the Extendible C++ Application in Quantum Technologies (ECAQT) package provides the numerical simulations and modeling of complex quantum systems in the presence of decoherence with wide applications in photonics. It allows creating models of interacting complex systems and simulates their time evolution with a number of available time-evolution drivers. Physical simulations require massive amounts of calculations are often executed on distributed computing infrastructures. It is often difficult for non expert users to use such computational infrastructures or even to use advanced libraries over the infrastructures, because they often require being familiar with middleware and tools, parallel programming techniques and packages. The Parallel Grid Run-time and Application Development Environment (P-RADE) Grid Portal is a Grid portal solution that allows users to manage the whole life-cycle for executing a parallel application on the computing Grid infrastructures. The article describes the functionality and the structure of the web portal based on ECAQT package.

Gaussian Boson sampling(GBS) provides a highly efficient approach to make use of squeezed states from parametric down-conversion to solve a classically hard-to-solve sampling problem. The GBS protocol not only significantly enhances the photon generation probability, compared to standard Boson sampling with single photon Fock states, but also links to potential applications such as dense subgraph problems and molecular vibronic spectra. Here, we report the first experimental demonstration of GBS using squeezed-state sources with simultaneously high photon indistinguishability and collection *** implement and validate 3-, 4- and 5-photon GBS with high sampling rates of 832, 163 and 23 kHz,respectively, which is more than 4.4, 12.0, and 29.5 times faster than the previous ***, we observe a quantum speed-up on a NP-hard optimization problem when comparing with simulated thermal sampler and uniform sampler.

Eu luminescence from BaTiO_(3)/SiO_(2)multilayer xerogel structures

Sol-gel technology was applied to fabricate Eu-doped BaTiO_(3)/SiO_(2)multilayer structures by spinning on silicon and fused silica *** photoluminescence(PL)was investigated depending on the annealing temperature of these *** samples demonstrate the room temperature luminescence corresponding to^(5)D^(0)→^(7)F_(J)(J=1,2,3,4)transitions of trivalent europium with the most intensive band at 615 *** the structure on fused silica with Eu in the BaTiO_(3)cavity,increase of the annealing temperature from 450℃to 700℃results in modification of the luminescence indicatrix and lowering of the luminescence intensity in the direction along the surface *** BaTiO_(3)/SiO_(2)multilayer structure generated on silicon,scanning electron microscopy(SEM)analyses reveal disordering after annealing at 1000℃.This heat treatment provides also an increase of the Eu luminescence intensity.

Scientometric Implosion that Leads to Explosion: Case Study of Armenian Journals

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to introduce a new concept and term into the scientometric discourse and research—scientometric implosion—and test the idea on the example of the Armenian journals. The article argues that the existence of a compressed scientific area in the country makes pressure on the journals and after some time this pressure makes one or several journals explode—break the limited national scientific area and move to the international arena. As soon as one of the local journals breaks through this compressed space and appears at an international level, further explosion happens, which makes the other journals follow the same ***/methodology/approach: Our research is based on three international scientific databases—WoS, Scopus, and RISC CC, from where we have retrieved information about the Armenian journals indexed there and citations received by those journals and one national database—the Armenian Science Citation Index. Armenian Journal Impact Factor(ArmJIF) was calculated for the local Armenian journals based on the general impact factor formula. Journals were classified according to Gl?nzel and Schubert(2003). Findings: Our results show that the science policy developed by the scientific authorities of Armenia and the introduction of ArmJIF have made the Armenian journals comply with international standards and resulted in some local journals to break the national scientific territory and be indexed in international scientific databases of RISC, Scopus, and WoS. Apart from complying with technical requirements, the journals start publishing articles also in foreign languages. Although nearly half of the local journals are in the fields of social sciences and humanities, only one journal from that field is indexed in international scientific databases. NAMD Package Benchmarking on the Base of Armenian Grid Infrastructure

The parallel scaling (parallel performance up to 48 cores) of NAMD package has been investigated by estimation of the sensitivity of interconnection on speedup and benchmark results—testing the parallel performance of Myrinet, Infiniband and Gigabit Ethernet networks. The system of ApoA1 of 92 K atoms, as well as 1000 K, 330 K, 210 K, 110 K, 54 K, 27 K and 16 K has been used as testing systems. The Armenian grid infrastructure (ArmGrid) has been used as a main platform for series of benchmarks. According to the results, due to the high performance of Myrinet and Infiniband networks, the ArmCluster system and the cluster located in the Yerevan state university show reasonable values, meanwhile the scaling of clusters with various types of Gigabit Ethernet interconnections breaks down when interconnection is activated. However, the clusters equipped by Gigabit Ethernet network are sensitive to change of system, particularly for 1000 K systems no breakdown in scaling is observed. The infiniband supports in comparison with Myrinet, make it possible to receive almost ideally results regardless of system size. In addition, a benchmarking formula is suggested, which provides the computational throughput depending on the number of processors. These results should be important, for instance, to choose most appropriate amount of processors for studied system.

Color polymorphism offers rich opportunities for studying the eco-evolutionary mechanisms that drive the adaptations of local populations to heterogeneous and changing *** explored the color morph diversity and composition in a Chrysomela lapponica leaf beetle across its entire distribution range to test the hypothesis that environmental and climatic variables shape spatiotemporal variation in the phenotypic structure of a polymorphic *** obtained information on 13617 specimens of this beetle from museums,private collections,and *** specimens(collected from 1830-2020)originated from 959 localities spanning 33°latitude,178°longitude,and 4200 m *** classified the beetles into five color morphs and searched for environmental factors that could explain the variation in the level of polymorphism(quantified by the Shannon diversity index)and in the relative frequencies of individual color *** highest level of polymorphism was found at high latitudes and *** color morphs differed in their climatic requirements;composition of colour morphs was independent of the geographic distance that separated populations but changed with collection year,longitude,mean July temperature and betweenyear temperature *** proportion of melanic beetles,in line with the thermal melanism hypothesis,increased with increasing latitude and altitude and decreased with increasing climate *** morph frequencies also declined during the past century,but only at high latitudes and altitudes where recent climate warming was especially *** observed patterns suggest that color polymorphism is especially advantageous for populations inhabiting unpredictable environments,presumably due to the different climatic requirements of coexisting color morphs.

Based on the idea of maximum determinant positive definite matrix completion,Yamashita(Math Prog 115(1):1–30,2008)proposed a new sparse quasi-Newton update,called MCQN,for unconstrained optimization problems with sparse Hessian *** exchange of the relaxation of the secant equation,the MCQN update avoids solving difficult subproblems and overcomes the ill-conditioning of approximate Hessian ***,local and superlinear convergence results were only established for the MCQN update with the DFP *** this paper,we extend the convergence result to the MCQN update with the whole Broyden’s convex *** results are also reported,which suggest some efficient ways of choosing the parameter in the MCQN update the Broyden’s family.
