Effective and robust electrocatalysts are mainly based on innovative materials and unique ***,we designed a flakelike cobalt phosphide-based catalyst supporting on NiCo_(2)O_(4)nanorods array,which in-situ grew on the nickel foam(NF)current collector,referring as NCo_(2)P/NiCo_(2)O_(4)/NF *** optimizing the microstructure and electronic structure through 3D hierarchy fabrication and nitrogen doping,the catalyst features with abundant electrochemical surface area,favorable surface wettability,excellent electron transport,as well as tailored d band ***,the as-prepared N-Co_(2)P/NiCo_(2)O_(4)/NF electrode exhibits an impressive HER activity with a low overpotentials of58 mV at 10 mA cm^(-2),a Tafel slop of 75 mV dec^(-1),as well as superior durability in alkaline *** work may provide a new pathway to effectively improve the hydrogen evolution performance of transition metal phosphides and to develop promising electrodes for practical electrocatalysis.

The luminescence properties of CdSio(3):RE3+ phosphors doped with various rare earth ions are reported. The series of rare earth ions doped CdSiO3 phosphors are prepared by the conventional high-temperature solid-state method, and characterized by XRD and photoluminescence (PL) spectra. The results of XRD measurement indicate that the products fired under 1050 degreesC for 3 h have a good crystallization without any detectable amount of impure phase. The PL spectra measurement results show that CdSiO3 is a novel self-activated luminescent matrix. When rare earth ions such as Y3+, La3+, Gds(3+), Lus(3+), Ce3+, nd3+, Ho3+, Era(3+), Tm3+ and Yb3+ are introduced into the CdSi03 host, one broadband centered at about 420 nm resulted from traps can be observed. In the case of other earth ions which show emissions at the visible spectrum region, such as Pr3+, Sm3+, Eu3+, Tb3+ and Dy3+, the mixture of their characteristic line emissions with the similar to 420 nm strong broadband luminescence results in various emitting colors. As a consequence, different emitting colors can be attairied via introducing certain appropriate active ions into the CdSiO3 matrix. In additional, this kind of phosphors shows good long-lasting properties when excited by UV light. All the results show that CdSiO3 is a potential luminance matrix.

Rare earths are a series of minerals with special properties that make them essential for applications including miniaturized electronics, computer hard disks, display panels, missile guidance, pollution controlling catalysts, H2-storage and other advanced materials. The use of thermal barrier coatings （TBCs） has the potential to extend the working temperature and the life of a gas turbine by providing a layer of thermal insulation between the metallic substrate and the hot gas. Yttria （Y203）, as one of the most important rare earth oxides, has already been used in the typical TBC material YSZ （yttria stabilized zirconia）. In the development of the TBC materials, especially in the latest ten years, rare earths have been found to be more and more important. All the new candidates of TBC materials contain a large quantity of rare earths, such as R2Zr207 （R=La, Ce, nd, Gd）, CeO2-YSZ, RMeAI11019 （R=La, nd; Me=Mg, Ca, Sr） and LAP04. The concept of double-ceramic- layer coatings based on the rare earth materials and YSZ is effective for the improvement of the thermal shock life of TBCs at high temperature.

Thermochemistry on Coordination Behavior of Neodymium Chloride Hydrate with Diethylammonium Diethyldithiocarbamate

The complex of neodymium chloride lower hydrate with diethylammonium diethyldithiocarbamate (D-DDC) was synthesized conveniently in absolute alcohol and dry N_2 atmosphere. The title complex was identified as Et_2NH_2[nd(S_2CNEt_2)_4] by chemical and elemental analyses and the bonding characteristics of which was characterized by IR. The enthalpies of solution of neodymium chloride hydrate and D-DDC in absolute alcohol at 298.15 K and the enthalpies change of liquid-phase reaction of formation for Et_2NH_2[nd (S_2CNEt_2)_4] at different temperatures were determined by microcalorimetry. On the basis of experimental and calculated results, three thermodynamic parameters (the activation enthalpy, the activation entropy and the activation free energy), the rate constant and three kinetic parameters (the apparent activation energy, the pre-exponential constant and the reaction order) of liquid-phase reaction of formation were obtained. The enthalpy change of the solid-phase title reaction at 298.15 K was calculated by a thermochemical cycle.

Thermokinetics on the Reaction of Formation of the Ternary Complex nd[(C_5H_8NS_2)_3(C_(12)H_8N_2)]

The title ternary complex nd[(C5H8NS2)3(C12H8N2)] has been synthesized in absolute ethanol by the reaction of ndCl33.74H2O with ammonium pyrrolidinyldithiocarboxylate (APDC) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phenH2O) at air atmosphere without any cautions against moisture. The bonding characteristics of the complex were characterized by IR, showing that nd3+ is bonded with sulfur atom in the APDC and coordinated with nitrogen atom in the phen. TG-DTG investigation indicates that the title complex was decomposed into nd2S3 and deposited carbon in one step where nd2S3 predominated in the final products. The enthalpy change of formation of the reaction on the title com-plex in liquid-phase has been determined by a microcalorimeter. Thermodynamic parameters (the activation en-thalpy, the activation entropy and the activation free energy) and kinetics parameters (the rate constant, the apparent activation energy, the pre-exponential constant and the reaction order) of the title reaction have been calculated. The enthalpy change of the solid-phase reaction has been obtained by a thermochemistry cycle.

Solid oxide fuel cell is attracting more attention in recent years for its lower pollution emission and high energy convert efficiency. La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.2O3-δis a new kind of electrolyte for intermediate temperature SOFC. In this paper, La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.2O3-δ(LSGM) was prepared by solid state reaction method and formed by tape casting process to make a planar electrolyte. The appropriate amount of the dispersive was obtained by viscosity test. The densities of sintered samples increase with the increasing sintering temperature. It was found that the relative density of electrolyte can approach the value of 95 % by the isostatic pressing treatment of the green tape. The average thermal expansion coefficient of the LSGM is 11 .4×10-6 /℃at temperature range (200 ~ 1200℃). Measurements of the current-voltage and power-current characteristics of the Hi-Air cell show that the open-circuit voltage is 1.067 V at 800℃, peak current density is 0.56 A·cm -2 and the maximum power output is 0.147 W·cm -2.

A novel series of quaternary ammonium cationic derivatives based on tetrapyridyl-porphyrin was synthesized. All the compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antibacterial activities against S. aureus, E. coli and P. aeruginosa, and antifungal activities against C. albicans, where microorganisms were exposed and unexposed to the irradiation. The results revealed that some of these compounds, especially, 3a and 4a displayed satisfactory antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria S. aureus and moderate antifungal activity against C. albicans. Unfortunately, Gram-negative bacteria P aeruginasa was resistant to all compounds. The antimicrobial activity was found to be sensitive to the functional groups attached on the aromatic ring and the complex metal in the porphyrin ring, and decreased with the increase of electron-withdrawing capability of the functional groups. These preliminary results suggested that the remarkable antibacterial efficiency against S. aureus makes these substances promising antimicrobial agents.

Comparison of Biochemical Effects Induced by Changle between Male and Female Rats Using NMR and ICP-MS Techniques

Metabolic profiles caused by rare earth complex were investigated using NMR and ICP-MS techniques. Male and female Wistar rats were treated orally with Changle （A kind of rare earth complex applied in agriculture to raise the production of crops） at dose of 2, 5 and 20 mg·kg^-1 body weight/day respectively for 90 d. Urine and serum samples are collected on 90 d. The relative concentrations of important endogenous metabolites in urine and serum are determined from ^1H NMR spectra and the contents of the four rare earth elements （La, Ce, Pr and nd） constituting Changle in the serum samples are measured by ICP-MS technique. Changle-induced renal and liver damage in rats is found based on the increase in the amounts of the amino acids, trimethylamine N-oxide, N, N-dimethyglycine, dimethylamine, succinate, α- ketoglutarate and ethanol as well as rare earth concentrations. The similarities and differentiations are found in the alteration patterns of metabolites and rare earth concentrations in serum.

Eight new complexes with the general formula of RE(Gly)(NO_3)_3(phen)_2·3H_2O (RE=La, Ce, Pr, nd, Gd, Sm, Er, Y) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivity, IR spectra, UV spectra and thermal analysis. All the complexes are stable in air and their conductance values in acetonitrile lie in the range of 204.1～239.4 S·cm2·mol -1, indicating 1∶2 type electrolytes. The IR shows that all the COO of glycine and oxygen atom of NO_3- take part in the coordination to the RE ions. The thermal behavior of La complex shows that the weight losses at 75～120 ℃ and 145～170 ℃ correspond to the loss of two lattice water molecules and one coordinated water molecules, respectively.

A series of Eu-doped ZnO films were prepared by a sol-gel method. Precursor and films were characterized by thermal analysis (TG-DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), UV-vis spectra, as well as the magnetism measurement. The wurtzite structure of obtained films presents an extreme high c-orientation character. The film susceptibility resembles a Curie-Weiss behavior at high temperature, and presents an obvious enhancement at low temperature, indicating the presence of antiferromagnetic interactions in the Zn0.9Eu0.1O films.
