AIM: To study a service model that enables a clinic to be open to all members of the community, irrespective of their ability to ***: Sampling methodology was used to gather information in two phases, with the city of Indore as the target region. In the first phase, dental professionals were surveyed to gather the cost of the facility, land and equipment and the cost of sustaining the practice. In the second phase, the residents of Indore were surveyed to collect information regarding their oral health problems and their expenditure for the same. Assessing the current situation, the questions to answer are related to the issues of dental health care access problems and the resources required, human and ***:(1) People younger than 20 years of age form a large proportion(43%) of the population of the city and also a large proportion(54%) of people who visit dental clinics;(2) dental caries are commonlyfound in the population younger than 20 years of age and mobile teeth in those older than 50 years of age;(3) dental caries and mobile teeth are almost equally found in people of the age group 20-50 years old;(4) A significantly large proportion of those older than 50 years old have had all their teeth extracted; and(5) A significantly large proportion of the 20-30 years of age group has had no teeth ***: The model which we propose works well for low income patients; however, it places a lot of extra burden on the higher income group. A lot of effort can be put into generating revenue from other sources, including events and donations.

A review is given on the recent progress of silicon-based on-chip hybrid multiplexers, which are the key elements to enable more than one(de)multiplexing techniques simultaneously, including wavelengthdivision-multiplexing(WDM), polarization-division-multiplexing(PDM), and mode-division-multiplexing(MDM). This helps enhance the link capacity of optical interconnects multiplexed with many *** first part gives a review on the recent developed silicon-based hybrid WDM-PDM(de)multiplexers enabling WDM and PDM simultaneously, which helps achieve 2 N channels by introducing N wavelengths and dual polarizations. The recent progress of silicon-based hybrid WDM-MDM(de)multiplexers developed is reviewed in the second part. With the hybrid WDM-MDM(de)multiplexers, one can achieve N × M channels by using N wavelengths and M guided-modes. Finally, the silicon-based hybrid MDM-PDM(de)multiplexers are presented as the key to enhance the link capacity for a single wavelength carrier.

The biology of exosomes is a fascinating field of science that has attracted much attention from clinical researchers due to the plethora of associated *** biological cargoes serve as a hub of information about the health status of a cell or a group of *** reports on exosome-derived biomolecules in relation to diseases such as cancer,neurodegenerative diseases,and infectious diseases have spurred interest in exploring their role in the pathogenesis of other debilitating disease *** research into autoimmune disorders(ADs)in relation to exosome biology has identified novel therapeutic leads aiming to improve the life expectancy of individuals suffering from such disorders.1 One such important,notable contribution was recently shared by Guay et *** provided concreate evidence on the mechanism ofβcell apoptosis induced by the transfer of exosomal miRNAs derived from T cells,which eventually leads to type I diabetes *** crucial mediators of the process were T-lymphocyte-derived exosomes harboring miR-142-3p,miR-142-5p,and ***-miRs designed to block the interactions of miRNAs with their target genes insideβcells prevented the process of apoptosis,eventually rescuingβcells.2 Thus,targeting the mediators of crosstalk or blocking the function of exosomal miRNAs could serve as an interesting therapeutic strategy for type I diabetes mellitus(Fig.1).Consistent with the above report,this review highlights the contribution of exosomes to the development of autoimmune *** addition,this review also reveals the possible“theranostic”markers(therapeutic and diagnostic biomarkers)associated with ADs.

A multimode silicon photonic integrated circuit(PIC) comprising a pair of on-chip mode(de)multiplexers with 10-mode channels and a multimode bus waveguide with sharp bends is demonstrated to enable multi-channel on-chip transmissions. The core width of the multimode bus waveguide is chosen such that it can support 10 guided modes, of which there are four transverse-magnetic polarization modes and six transverse-electric polarization modes. This multimode bus waveguide comprises sharp bends based on modified Euler curves. Experimental results demonstrate that the present silicon PIC enables the 10-channel on-chip transmission with a low inter-mode crosstalk of approximately-20 dB over a broad bandwidth of 1520–1610 nm even when the bending radius of the S-bend is as small as 40 μm. Compared with a silicon PIC using a conventional arc-bend with the same bending radius, our proposed PIC demonstrates a significant improvement.

Snake venoms are folk medicines used since ages. The components of snake venoms have high specific affinity and actions on cells and cell components. Also snake venoms are largely cytotoxic to tumor cells than normal cells. In addition to these, they have several therapeutic actions that make them an attractive option in the management of cancer. The advent of modern technologies has greatly helped in extracting and identifying new components of therapeutic interests in short time. The article highlights the importance of snake venoms in the management of cancer, so as to motivate curious researchers to devote their skills in this fascinating area. This in turn may bring hope, smile and relief to several cancer patients in future.

The formula for the analytical calculations of the shaped charge jetting parameters exhibit an explicit dependence upon the Gurney velocity of an explosive *** attempts have been done to approximate the characteristic constant 2E^(1/2) and to make its use more *** is shown herein that the characteristic Gurney velocity parameter depends on the ratio of the Chapman Jouguet-pressure to explosive impulse ratio by the formula:2E^(1/2)=0.2415(P_(CJ)/I_(SP)ρ_0)-970.76,where PCJis the Chapman Jouguet pressure(Pa),ISPis the specific impulse of the explosive used as a monopropellant(N·s/kg)andρois the explosive density(kg/m^3).The proposed empirical formula was found to be reasonable and quite accurate approximation that can be implemented over a wide range of explosives,where the maximum deviation between the measured and the calculated Gurney velocities was nearly 6%.Besides,the proposed approach has been used analytically to calculate the jet tip velocity of a small caliber shaped charge,which is measured *** difference between the measured and the calculated jet tip velocity was only 1.6%.
