Objective To construct a prediction model based on metabolic profiling for predicting the response to cardiac resynchronization therapy(CRT).Methods Peripheral venous(PV)and coronary sinus(CS)blood samples were collected from 25 patients with heart failure(HF)at the time of CRT implantation,and PV blood samples were obtained from ten healthy *** serum samples were analyzed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS).As per the clinical and echocardiographic assessment at the 6-month follow-up,the HF patients were categorized as CRT responders and *** HF patients had altered serum metabolomic profiles that were significantly different from those of the healthy *** metabolites were also observed between CRT responders and non-responders.A prediction model for CRT response(CRT-Re)was constructed using the concentration levels of the differential metabolites,L-arginine and *** optimal cutoff value of the CRT-Re model was found to be 0.343 by ROC analysis(sensitivity,88.2%;specificity,87.5%;Area under curve(AUC)=0.897,P=0.002).The concentration levels of the differential metabolites,L-arginine and lysyl-gamma-glutamate,in PV serum were significantly correlated with that in CS serum(r=0.945 and 0.680,respectively,all P<0.001).Conclusions Our results suggest that serum-based metabolic profiling may be a potential complementary screening tool for predicting the outcome of CRT.

Background: Ovarian cancer accounts for 4% of cancers occurring in women and ranks first in gynecological cancer mortality. Maintaining and improving quality of life is an important goal of cancer treatment. The toxicities of cancer treatment particularly chemotherapy can impact an individual’s wellbeing. Objective: Assessment of quality of life among ovarian cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. Method: A descriptive study was conducted among 202 patients with ovarian cancer treated at the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital in Bangladesh. Ethical approval was received from the ethics committee of NICRH. Data was collected using the EORTC QLQC30 questionnaire and the ovarian cancer specific EORTC QOL OV-28 module. Functional, symptomatic and global variables were scored and analyzed by SPSS. Multiple linear regressions determined the effects of predictor variables and correlation of the global health status with other variables. Results: 48.6% of patients were ages 41 to 50 years. The mean score of global health status was 55.77. Deteriorating emotional function, distressing physical and psychological symptoms, sexual dysfunction and financial difficulties adversely affect the quality of life. Obstructive sleep apnea(OSA)can lead to sleep deprivation,accidents,and cardiovascular ***,research on the short-term effects of air pollutants on OSA severity is limited and *** conducted a novel case time series analysis using a nationwide dataset among Huawei smart device users to assess the association between air pollution and OSA severity in a population at moderate-to-severe risk of ***-effects regression models were used to assess the associations between air pollution and the risk of OSA exacerbation,apnea-hypopnea index(AH),and oxygen saturation.A total of 51,842 participants who were at moder-ate-tosevere risk of OSA(mean age[SD]:45.4[11.0],95.5%male)were included,with 6,232,056 person-days of *** as sociations of fine particulate matter,nitrogen dioxide,carbon monoxide,and sulfur dioxide with OSA severity could occur during the sleep period,and last for 2 *** increase of 1 interquartile range in the moving average concentrations of air pollution during the sleep period and the 2 previous days was associated with a 1.14%-4.31%increase in the risk of OSA exacerbation,an increase in AHI by 0.05-0.17 events/h,and a decrease in oxygen saturation(%)by *** exposure-response curves were almost *** associations between air pollutants and OSA were consistently stronger in participants aged 45 years or *** virtue of the smart device-based technology,this largescale,nationwide,longitudinal study provides compelling evidence that short-term exposure to air pollution may worsen sleep *** findings highlight the significance of ongoing efforts to improve air quality in mitigating OSA severity and the relevant disease burden in an aging era.

Objective:To compare the efficacy and safety of hyperthermic intravesical chemotherapy(HIVEC)and intravesical chemotherapy(IVEC)in patients with intermediate and high risk nonmuscle-invasive bladder cancer(NMIBC)after transurethral ***:We included 560 patients diagnosed with primary or recurrent NMIBC between April 2009 and December 2015 at 1 of 6 tertiary *** matched 364 intermediate or high risk cases and divided them into 2 groups:the HIVEC+IVEC group[chemohyperthermia(CHT)composed of 3 consecutive sessions followed by intravesical instillation without hyperthermia]and the IVEC group(intravesical instillation without hyperthermia).The data were recorded in the *** primary endpoint was 2-year recurrence-free survival(RFS)in all NMIBC patients(n=364),whereas the secondary endpoints were the assessment of radical cystectomy(RC)and 5-year overall survival(OS).Results:There was a significant difference in the 2-year RFS between the two groups in all patients(n=364;HIVEC+IVEC:82.42%***:74.18%,P=0.038).Compared with the IVEC group,the HIVEC+IVEC group had a lower incidence of RC(P=0.0274).However,the 5-year OS was the same between the 2 groups(P=0.1434).Adverse events(AEs)occurred in 32.7%of all patients,but none of the events was serious(grades 3–4).No difference in the incidence or severity of AEs between each treatment modality was ***:This retrospective study showed that HIVEC+IVEC had a higher 2-year RFS and a lower incidence of RC than IVEC therapy in intermediate and high risk NMIBC *** treatments were well-tolerated in a similar manner.

During the last decades,the use of nanotechnology in med icine has effectively been translated to the design of drug delivery systems,nanostructured tissues,diagnostic platforms,and novel nanomaterials against several human diseases and infectious ***-enabled vaccines have been positioned as solutions to mitigate the pandemic outbreak caused by the novel pathogen severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus *** fast-track the development of vaccines,unprecedented industrial and academic collaborations emerged around the world,resulting in the clinical translation of effective vaccines in less than one *** this article,we provide an overview of the path to translation from the bench to the clinic of nanotechnology-enabled messenger ribonucleic acid vaccines and examine in detail the types of delivery systems used,their mechanisms of action,obtained results during each phase of their clinical development and their regulatory approval *** also analyze how nanotechnology is impacting global health and economy during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

Archaea,one of the three domains of life along with Bacteria and Eukarya,contains ancient life forms such as methanogen that are observed today on Earth,and one lineage Asgard archaea is also considered the closest ancestor of ***,with the development of interdisciplinary studies from Earth and Life sciences,archaeal organisms are considered to play pivotal roles in geochemical cycling in ***,our understanding of the attributes,origin and evolution,geochemical and ecological functions of Archaea is hampered by the scarcity of archaeal isolates,which has represented a challenge to researchers for the last 40 ***-independent sequencing and phylogenomic analyses have demonstrated a considerable diversity of Archaea with more than 20 novel ***,only four archaeal phyla have cultured representatives,leaving large gaps in our knowledge of the metabolic capabilities and ecological functions of the majority of archaeal strains identified exclusively by DNA *** this review,we summarize the discovery and development of archaeal research,highlight the knowledge gap between uncultured and cultured archaeal microbes,and call on the importance of devoting greater research efforts to archaeal ***,we outlined new ideas and strategic approaches,namely,(1)genome-based methods,(2)microbial network information-based methods,(3)genome-scale model-guided methods,and(4)machine learning methods,to enable the cultivation of uncultivated archaeal microbes using accumulated high-throughput sequencing data.
