Sponsored search advertising is a significant revenue source for search engines. To ameliorate revenues, search engines often set fixed or variable reserve price to in influence advertisers＇ bidding. This paper studies the optimal reserve price for a generalized second-price auction （GSP） under both static and dynamic settings. We show that if advertisers＇ per-click value has an increasing generalized failure rate, the search engine＇s revenue rate is quasi-concave and hence there exists an optimal reserve price under both settings. Different from a static GSP auction where the optimal reserve price is proved to be constant, in a dynamic setting the optimal reserve price is dependent on not only advertisers＇ per-click values, but also the number of ad links sold. A search engine should gradually raise reserve price as more qualified advertisers arrive, and maintain the same threshold after all first-page positions are occupied.

This paper generalizes the classic resource allocation problem to the resource planning and allocation problem, in which the resource itself is a decision variable and the cost of each activity is uncertain when the resource is determined. The authors formulate this problem as a two-stage stochastic programming. The authors first propose an efficient algorithm for the case with finite ***, a sudgradient method is proposed for the general case and it is shown that the simple algorithm for the unique state case can be used to compute the subgradient of the objective function. Numerical experiments are conducted to show the effectiveness of the model.

Most inventory researches assume that production level can fluctuate arbitrarily. However, large fluctuation of the production level in many firms may be much costly. This paper addresses the coordinating pricing and inventory control problem in a bounded production system with uncertain yield, in which the production level is constrained between a maximum and minimum level in each period and the price can be adjusted dynamically. We show that the optimal policy is the interval base-stock-list-price policy. Also, we study the impact of the production bounds and uncertainty of the yield on the production system. Numerical experiments are also performed to study the impact of parameters on the system.

This paper studies a two-stage production system with n job orders where each job needs two sequential operations. In addition to the two in-house production facilities, the manufacturer has another option of outsourcing some stage-one operations to a remote outside supplier. The jobs with their stage-one operations outsourced are subject to a batch transportation delay from the outside supplier before their respective stage-two operations can be started in-house. The problem is to design an integrated schedule that considers both the in-house production and the outsourcing with the aim of optimally balancing the outsourcing cost and the makespan. The problem is NP-hard. We have developed an optimal algorithm and a heuristic algorithm to solve the problem, and conducted computational experiments to validate our model and algorithms. Our modeling and algorithm framework can be extended to handle other more general cases such as when the outside supplier has a production facility with a different processing efficiency and when there are many outside suppliers on a spot market.

The problems of stability and stabilization for the discrete Takagi-Sugeno（T-S） fuzzy time-delay system are *** constructing a discrete piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii function（PLKF） in each maximal overlapped-rules group（MORG）,a new sufficient stability condition for the open-loop discrete T-S fuzzy time-delay system is proposed and *** the systematic design of the fuzzy controller is investigated via the parallel distributed compensation control scheme,and a new stabilization condition for the closed-loop discrete T-S fuzzy time-delay system is *** above two sufficient conditions only require finding common matrices in each *** with the common Lyapunov-Krasovskii function（CLKF） approach and the fuzzy Lyapunov-Krasovskii function（FLKF） approach,these proposed sufficient conditions can not only overcome the defect of finding common matrices in the whole feasible region but also largely reduce the number of linear matrix inequalities to be ***,simulation examples show that the proposed PLKF approach is effective.

The alignment between information systems （IS） and business strategy along with its implications for perceived IS effectiveness and business performance is an important question, which is rarely studied in China. Based on an empirical study, this paper summarized the significance of IS strategic alignment and its impact on business performance. This study also measured business strategy, information system strategy, and information system strategic alignment, built a conceptual model to describe the relationship between these factors, and investigated their implications for information system performance and business performance. A structural equation model was employed to test the conceptual model. Analyses of data gathered in a survey indicate that information system strategic alignment is a better predictor of business performance than business strategy or information system strategy alone, although business strategy can significantly influence business performance.
