BACKGROUND In hepatology,the clinical use of endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)has experienced a notable increase in recent *** applications range from the diagnosis to the treatment of various liver ***,this systematic review summarizes the evidence for the diagnostic and therapeutic roles of EUS in liver *** To examine and summarize the current available evidence of the possible roles of the EUS in making a suitable diagnosis in liver diseases as well as the therapeutic accuracy and *** PubMed,Medline,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,and Google Scholar databases were extensively searched until October *** methodological quality of the eligible articles was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa scale or Cochrane Risk of Bias *** addition,statistical analyses were performed using the Comprehensive Meta-Analysis *** Overall,45 articles on EUS were included(28 on diagnostic role and 17 on therapeutic role).Pooled analysis demonstrated that EUS diagnostic tests had an accuracy of 92.4%for focal liver lesions(FLL)and 96.6%for parenchymal liver ***-guided liver biopsies with either fine needle aspiration or fine needle biopsy had low complication rates when sampling FLL and parenchymal liver diseases(3.1%and 8.7%,respectively).Analysis of data from four studies showed that EUS-guided liver abscess had high clinical(90.7%)and technical success(90.7%)without significant ***,EUS-guided interventions for the treatment of gastric varices(GV)have high technical success(98%)and GV obliteration rate(84%)with few complications(15%)and rebleeding events(17%).CONCLUSION EUS in liver diseases is a promising technique with the potential to be considered a first-line therapeutic and diagnostic option in selected cases.

Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of ivermectin in patients with mild and moderate ***:This study was a single-center,randomized,open-label,controlled trial with a 2-arm parallel-group design on 68 patients with *** to the 1:1 ratio between the study groups(ivermectin group and standard treatment group),patients were randomly admitted to each intervention ***:The mean age of the participants in the ivermectin group was(48.37±13.32)*** of them were males(54.5%)and the participants in the control group had a mean age of(46.28±14.47)years,with nineteen of them being males(59.4%).As a primary outcome,after 5 days of randomization,there was no significant difference between the ivermectin group and the control group in the length of stay in the hospital(P=0.168).ICU admission(P=0.764),length of stay in ICU(P=0.622),in-hospital mortality(P=0.427),adverse drug reactions,and changes in the mean difference of laboratory data had not any significant difference between the two groups(except for urea change).In addition,the radiologic findings of the two groups of patients were not significantly *** regression analysis showed that for every 10 years increase of age,0.6 day of hospitalization duration was *** was no statistically significant association between other variables and clinical ***:Among adult hospitalized patients with moderate to severe COVID-19,there was no significant relationship between the administration of ivermectin single dose in a five-day course and clinical improvement,and mortality of the participants.

Objective:To evaluate the cardiac activity and hepatoprotection of Crataegus sinaica (***).Methods:All the isolated compounds were isolated by open-column liquid chromatography(CC) using sephadex LH-20 as stationary *** of the column was performed with EtOH or *** phytochemical investigation of the young stem of *** for the first time together with the leaves and flowers lead to the isolation and identification of quercetin,hyperoside,vitexin-2"-0-rhamnoside,epicatechin,procyanidin B2 and procyanidins ***:Rats treated with the low and high dose of *** leaves with flowers extract showed 15%and 17%reduction in the heart rate,and reduction in the STsegment by 107%and 57%;*** T-amplitude was decreased by 59%of the high dose *** the other hand,the young steins and leaves with flowers extracts of *** on primary culture of rat hepatocytes monolayer indicated a hepatoprotection for the total extract,ethyl acetate,butanol,and chlor of orm fractions at 100μg/mL,75μg/mL,50μg/mL,and 25μg/mL; ***:The results of these chemical and biological studies suggest the use of *** growing in Egypt as a preventive drug against cardiovascular and hepatic diseases. Effects of herbal medicine in gastroesophageal reflux disease symptoms: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background: Pyrosis and regurgitation are the cardinal symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease. Severalherbs have been used for treating gastrointestinal disorders worldwide. This systematic review was conducted toinvestigate the effects of medicinal herbs on gastroesophageal reflux disease and adverse events. Methods:MEDLINE (via PubMed;The United States National Library of Medicine, USA), Scopus, ScienceDirect,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Web of Science, Magiran, and Scientific Information Databasewere systematically searched for human studies, without a time frame, using medical subject heading terms such as“gastroesophageal reflux disease”, “reflux”, “esophagitis” and “herbs”. Manual searches completed the electronicsearches. Results: Thirteen randomized controlled trials were identified, including 1,164 participants from 1,509publications. In comparing herbal medicine to placebo, there were no significant differences in terms of heartburn(P = 0.23 and 0.48), epigastric or abdominal pain (P = 0.35), reflux syndrome (P = 0.12), and effective rate (P =0.60), but there was a significant difference in terms of acid regurgitation (P = 0.01). In comparing herbal medicineto drugs, there was a significant difference in terms of effective rate (P = 0.001), and there was one trial thatreported a significant difference in terms of epigastric pain (P = 0.00001). Also, in comparing herbal medicine todrugs, there were no significant differences in terms of acid regurgitation (P = 0.39). Conclusion: Thismeta-analysis showed that herbal medicines are effective in treating gastroesophageal reflux disease. Furtherstandardized researches with a large-scale, multicenter, and rigorous design are needed.
