AIM：To test the therapeutic effects of delayed treatment of mesenchymal stem cells（MSCs） in recurrent experimental autoimmune uveitis（r EAU）.METHODS： The efficacy of different regimens of MSC administration in r EAU were tested by evaluation of clinical and pathological intraocular inflammation,as well as retinal structural and functional integrity using optical coherence tomography（OCT） and electroretinogram（ERG）.The retinal sections were also immunostained with antibodies to glial fibrillary acidic protein（GFAP）and rhodopsin（RHO）. RESULTS： Delayed treatment of MSCs effectively alleviated the severity of intraocular inflammation with relative intact of outer retinal structure and ***,double therapies with longer interval led to an even better clinical evaluation,as well as a trend of decrease in relapse and amelioration of retinal *** therapies also effectively reduced GFAP expression and increased RHO expression in the ***： MSC administration can effectively treat developed diseases of rEAU,and multiple therapies can provide additional therapeutic benefits.

Comparison of visual acuity outcomes between ranibizumab and bevacizumab treatment in neovascular age-related macular degeneration

AIM: To compare visual acuity (VA) outcomes between intravitreal injection of bevacizumab and ranibizumab in the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD). METHODS: We conducted a consecutive, retrospective case series study in patients with newly diagnosed all type choroidal neovascularization (CNV) secondary to AMD who received an intravitreal injection of bevacizumab (1.25mg) or ranibizumab (0.3mg) at lions eye institute, Western Australia from Mar. 2006 to May 2008. All patients received injection at baseline with additional monthly injections given at the discretion of the treating physician. Main outcome measures were changes in VA. RESULTS: There were 371 consecutive patients received injection at least in one eye with at least 6 months of follow up (median of 12.0 months). Bevacizumab treatment prevented 221 out of 278 (79.5%) patient from losing < 15 letters in VA compared with 79 out of 93 (84.9%) of ranibizumab treated patients (P=0.25). While 68 (24.5%) of bevacizumab treated patients gained 15 letters of VA compared with 24 (25.8%) of ranibizumab treated patients (P=0.79). 75.3% and 66.2% patients benefited from ranibizumab and bevacizumab respectively with final VA better than 6/60 (P=0.10). Multivariate analysis showed that pre-treatment VA was negatively associated with benefit outcome. Assignment of injection was not associated with VA outcome of benefit after adjusting the covariate (P=0.857). CONCLUSION: There are no difference in treatment efficacy in terms of VA between bevacizumab and ranibizumab in routine clinical condition.

Background:To generate and validate a method to estimate axial length estimated(AL_(est))from spherical equivalent(SE)and corneal curvature[keratometry(K)],and to determine if this AL_(est)can replace actual axial length(AL_(act))for correcting transverse magnification error in optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)images using the Littmann-Bennett ***:Data from 1301 participants of the Raine Study Gen2-20 year follow-up were divided into two datasets to generate(n=650)and validate(n=651)a relationship between AL,SE,and *** developed formula was then applied to a separate dataset of 46 participants with AL,SE,and K measurements and OCTA images to estimate and compare the performance of AL_(est)against AL_(act)in correcting transverse magnification error in OCTA images when measuring the foveal avascular zone area(FAZA).Results:The formula for AL_(est)yielded the equation:AL_(est)=2.102K−0.4125SE+7.268,R^(2)=*** was good agreement between AL_(est)and AL_(act)for both study *** mean difference[standard deviation(SD)]between FAZA corrected with AL_(est)and AL_(act)was 0.002(0.015)mm^(2)with the 95%limits of agreement(LoA)of−0.027 to 0.031 mm^(2).In comparison,mean difference(SD)between FAZA uncorrected and corrected with AL_(act)was−0.005(0.030)mm^(2),with 95%LoA of−0.064 to 0.054 mm^(2).Conclusions:AL_(act)is more accurate than AL_(est)and hence should be used preferentially in magnification error correction in the clinical *** corrected with AL_(est)is comparable to FAZA corrected with AL_(act),while FAZA measurements using images corrected with AL_(est)have a greater accuracy than measurements on uncorrected ***,in the absence of AL_(act),clinicians should use AL_(est)to correct for magnification error as this provides for more accurate measurements of fundus parameters than uncorrected images.

This article focuses on a type of stochastic Mc Kean-Vlasov equation in the G-framework(G-SMVE) and addresses the stability issue for delay stochastic Mc Kean-Vlasov equations in the G-framework(G-SMVDEs). Distribution dependence and uncertainty prevent us from directly applying the stochastic analysis method for stochastic Mc Kean-Vlasov equations(SMVEs)to G-SMVEs directly. To overcome this difficulty, we introduce definitions, including the derivative of a function with a law under the G-expectation and the lions derivatives. Then we construct a new G-It? formula for G-SMVEs according to the G-It? formula for stochastic differential equations in the G-framework(G-SDEs) and the It? formula for SMVEs. Using the new G-It? formula and the Lyapunov functional method, we investigate the moment exponential stability and almost sure asymptotic stability of G-SMVDEs. To overcome the difficulty in obtaining the distribution dependence of the exact solution to the G-SMVDE, we introduce the empirical measure and the corresponding interacting particle system, and then prove the stability equivalence between the underlying G-SMVDE and the corresponding interacting particle system. Two examples are used to confirm our theoretical results.

AIM: To investigate the applications of hydrogen sulfide(H2 S) in eye-specific ailments in ***: Heterozygous cystathionine-β-synthase(CBS+/-) and wild-type C57 BL/6 J(WT) mice fed with or without high methionine diet(HMD) were administered either phosphate buffered saline(PBS) or the slow-release H2 S donor: GYY4137. Several analyses were performed to study GYY4137 effects by examining retinal lysates for key protein expressions along with plasma glutamate and glutathione estimations. Intraocular pressure(IOP) was monitored during GYY4137 treatment; barium sulfate and bovine serum albumin conjugated fluorescein isothiocyanate(BSA-FITC) angiographies were performed for examining vasculature and its permeability post-treatment. Visionguided behavior was also tested employing novel object recognition test(NORT) and light-dark box test(LDBT) ***: CBS deficiency(CBS+/-) coupled with HMD led disruption of methionine/homocysteine(Hcy) metabolism leading to hyperhomocysteinemia(HHcy) in CBS+/-mice as reflected by increased Hcy, and s-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase(SAHH) levels. Unlike CBS, cystathionine-γ lyase(CSE), methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR) levels which were reduced but compensated by GYY4137intervention. Heightened oxidative and endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress responses were mitigated by GYY4137 effects along with enhanced glutathione(GSH) levels. Increased glutamate levels in CBS+/-strain were prominent than WT mice and these mice also exhibited higher IOP that was lowered by GYY4137 treatment. CBS deficiency also resulted in vision-guided behavioral impairment as revealed by NORT and LDBT findings. Interestingly, GYY4137 was able to improve CBS+/-mice behavior together with lowering their glutamate levels. Blood-retinal barrier(BRB) appeared compromised in CBS+/-with vessels' leakage that was mitigated in GYY4137 treated group.
