Divacancy spins implement qubits with outstanding characteristics and capabilities in an industrial semiconductor host On the other hand,there are still numerous open questions about the physics of these important defects,for instance,spin relaxation has not been thoroughly studied ***,we carry out a theoretical study on environmental spin-induced spin relaxation processes of divacancy qubits in the 4H polytype of silicon carbide(4H-SiC).We reveal all the relevant magnetic field values where the longitudinal spin relaxation time T,drops resonantly due to the coupling to either nuclear spins or electron *** quantitatively analyze the dependence of the T,time on the concentration of point defect spins and the applied magnetic field and provide ananalytical *** demonstrate that dipolar spin relaxation plays a significant role both in as-grown and ion-implanted samples and it often limits the coherence time of divacancy qubits in 4H-SiC.

Objective: One patient received oral levodopa during a study aiming for better understanding of the basal ganglia and of the mechanisms of deep brain stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus (STN DBS) with and without intravenous (IV) levodopa infusion in patients with Parkinson’s disease (PD). The results from oral and IV levodopa treatment are presented. Methods: Five patients with advanced PD were included in the original study. During planned STN DBS surgery microdialysis probes were implanted in the right putamen and in the right and left globus pallidus interna (Gpi). During the study, microdialysis was performed continuously and STN DBS, with and without IV levodopa infusion, was performed according to a specific protocol. After DBS surgery, but before STN DBS was started, one patient received oral levodopa/ benserazide and entacapone tablets out of protocol due to distressing parkinsonism. Results: The levodopa levels increased prompt in the central nervous system after the first PD medication intakes but declined after the last. Immediately the levodopa seemed to be metabolized to dopamine (DA) since the levels of DA correlated well with levodopa concentrations. Left STN DBS seemed to further increase DA levels in left Gpi while right STN DBS seemed to increase DA levels in the right putamen and right Gpi. There was no obvious effect on levodopa levels. Conclusions: The results indicate that PD patients still have capacity to metabolize levodopa to DA despite advanced disease with on-off symptoms and probably pronounced nigral degeneration. STN DBS seems to increase DA levels with a more pronounced effect on ipsilateral structures in striatum.

Autonomous vehicles are currently developed, and are expected to be introduced gradually. Society needs a basis for decisions regarding market interventions. This study identifies, quantifies and values the benefits and costs of autonomous trucks and cars considering generalized costs, external effects and social marginal cost pricing to consumers with Swedish data. The results show that the greatest benefits are saved driver costs for trucks and decreased travel time costs for car drivers. In the example calculations, capital costs may increase by 22 percent for cars and 36 percent for trucks for benefits to exceed costs in 2025. Subsidies are not needed since the producers and consumers get the major benefits and pay the costs.

Organelle-targeted imaging can provide information on cellular functions and intracellular interactions,being significant for disease *** use of room-temperature phosphorescence(RTP)in organelle-targeted imaging can fully utilize its unique characteristics of long wavelength and deep ***,this technology has long been plagued by insufficient probe targeting and limited luminous *** this work,we prepared a series of complexes composed of multicationic persulfurated arenes and biomacromolecules via electrostatic interactions in 1:1 stoichiometry for high-contrast mitochondrial-targeted RTP *** an electrostatic interaction design effectively prevented the self-aggregation of the probes,which is not conducive to mitochondrial ***,it suppressed the non-radiative decay to the maximum extent,enabling the probes to exhibit strong RTP signals both in aqueous solution and at the cellular ***,the biomacromolecules can serve as carriers for an electrostatic interaction transfer of the persulfurated arenes to *** leads to high mitochondrial targeting Pearson's correlation coefficients of the probes and high-contrast RTP imaging effects,as well as the independence of the co-incubated probe *** results provide new insights for the development of targeted imaging technologies.

The potential of the screen printing method for large-scale production of organic electrochemical transistors(OECTs),combining high production yield with low cost,is here *** screen-printed OECTs of 1 mm^(2) area,based on poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)doped with poly(styrensulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS),have been manufactured on flexible polyethylene terephthalate(PET)*** goal of this project effort has been to explore and develop the printing processing to enable high yield and stable transistor parameters,targeting miniaturized digital OECT circuits for large-scale integration(LSI).Of the 760 OECTs manufactured in one batch on a PET sheet,only two devices were found malfunctioning,thus achieving an overall manufacturing yield of 99.7%.A drain current ON/OFF ratio at least equal to 400 was applied as the strict exclusion principle for the yield,motivated by proper operation in LSI *** consistent performance of low-footprint OECTs allows for the integration of PEDOT:PSS-based OECTs into complex logic circuits operating at high stability and accuracy.

Atmospheric pressure MOCVD was used to deposit ZnO layers on sapphire and homoepitaxial template under different oxygen flow *** content affects the lattice constant value and texture coefficient of the films as evidenced by the θ-2θ peaks position and their *** deposited at lower oxygen flow rate possess higher value of strain and *** films deposited at high oxygen flow rates show intense UV emissions while samples prepared under oxygen deficient conditions exhibited defect related emission along with UV *** results are compared to the ZnO films deposited homoepitaxially on annealed ZnO *** data obtained suggest that ZnO stoichiometry is responsible for the structural and optical quality of ZnO films.

Since the first report on laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) appeared in the 1990s, the procedure has been performed increasingly frequently to treat both benign and malignant lesions of the pancreas. Many earlier publications have shown LDP to be a good alternative to open distal pancreatectomy for benign lesions, although this has never been studied in a prospective, randomized manner. The evidence for the use of LDP to treat adenocarcinoma of the pancreas is not as well established. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the current evidence for LDP in cases of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. We conducted a review of English language publications reporting LDP results between 1990 and 2013. All studies reporting results in patients with histologically proven pancreatic adenocarcinoma were included. Thirty-nine publications were found and included in the results for a total of 309 cases of pancreatic adenocarcinoma (potential double publications were not eliminated). Most LDP procedures are performed in selected cases and generally involve smaller tumors than open distal pancreatectomy (ODP) procedures. Some of the papers report unselected cases and include procedures on larger tumors. The number of lymph nodes harvested using LDP is comparable to the number obtained with ODP, as is the frequency of R0 resections. Current data suggest that similar short term oncological results can be obtained using LDP as those obtained using ODP.
