Objective: To detect the trends of recent infection and estimate HIV incidence of injecting drug users(IDUs) in Guangdong province, China during past five years with BED assay. Methods: HIV-1-positive samples of IDUs from surveillance sites, including all prefecture cities of Guandong province, from 2007 to 2014 were collected. All samples were confirmed HIV positive with Western blot were subjected to BED-CEIA to identify recent infections among HIV-infected population. HIV-1 incidence was calculated with BED-CEIA statistics *** the methods of the AEM) Results: The BED-based indicence of HIV-1 among IDUs of surveillance sentinel sites in Guangdong from 2007 to 2011 was 0.14, 0.82, 0.23, 0.19, 0.17, and 0.22 percent, in Guangdong. Conclusions: Compared to other transmission routes in Guangdong, the IDUs are relative high. Compared to other provinces and regions in China, the incidence of IDUs is relatively low. In addition, the HIV-1 incidence in IDUs in Guangdong showed an overall decline trend from 2008 to 2011, except a sharp increase from 2007 to 2008. The concerns and control on drug abuse are still needed.(BED method should be applied for estimate the HIV-1 epidemic in IDUs population of Guangdong province)

Association between age at arrival,duration of migration,and overweight/obesity in Chinese rural-to-urban migrants:the Yi migrant study

Background:Little is known about breadth of neutralizing antibody(NAb) responses and the viral envelope characterization in Chinese treatment-nave ***:To clarify the profile of NAb from broad HIV-1 neutralizers and find potential ***:866 plasma samples from antiretroviral treatment-nave HIV-1-infected individuals, who mostly had acquired infection over 3 years through injecting drug use(IDU) and sexual contact, living in Xinjiang province(617) and Guangxi province(249) were analyzed for their ability to neutralize diverse pseudoviruses using the TZM-b1 pseudovirus *** NAb breadth was evaluated based on both number of viruses neutralized and neutralization *** genome amplification(SGA) of envelope genes and sequencing were performed to identify the sequence characteristics of the envelope glycoproteins from broad ***:We have found that for Xingjiang province, where most samples were derived from IDUs, 20 of 617(3.2%) plasma neutralized all of four subtype B and 39(5.3%) neutralized all of four subtype C at virus inhibition >80%.Only 10(1.6%) and 5(0.8%) plasma were able to neutralize the viruses of both subtype, B and C.5(0.8%) plasma were able to neutralize all 11 viruses of three different subtypes, B, C, and CRF01E at virus inhibition >80%.However, for Guangxi province where most samples were derived from sexual contact infection, lower neutralization titers were found with same virus *** variations of viral envelope glycoproteins between broad and non-broad neutralizers showed some unique ***:The breadth and potency of Nab against diverse HIV-1 subtypes in Chinese HIV-1-infected individuals was clarified for the first time.

Background:Urbanization in China is rapidly proceeding,but rural-to-urban migration and its association with overweight and obesity is not well *** study aimed to explore the age at arrival,duration of migration,and the corresponding association with overweight/obesity in Yi migrants in ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted in rural and urban areas in 2015 in Sichuan province,*** characteristics,lifestyle factors,and anthropometry were *** linear regression models were used to assess the effect of duration of migration(1-10,11-20,21-30,and>30 years)on body mass index(BMI).Multi-variable logistic regression was used to examine the association between duration of migration and overweight/obesity(BMI≥25 kg/m^(2)).Results:A total of 3056 Yi people(1894 Yi farmers and 1162 Yi migrants)aged 20 to 80 years were *** adjusting for age,sex,and other potential confounders,Yi migrants had 1.71 kg/m^(2)(95%confidence interval[CI]:1.36-2.06)higher BMI and a 2.13-fold(95%CI:1.71-2.65)higher risk of overweight/obesity than Yi *** Yi migrants,stratified by age at arrival,no significant association between duration of migration and overweight/obesity was observed in those who were 0 to 20 years old at *** comparison,in migrants>20 years old at arrival,compared with the reference group(1-10 years),long-term migration(>30 years)was found to be associated with overweight/obesity after adjustment(odds ratio:1.85,95%CI:1.04-3.29).Conclusions:Yi migrants were observed to have greater risk of overweight/obesity than Yi *** Yi migrants,the risk of overweight/obesity increased according to the duration of migration,especially in those who were older upon their arrival.

After dengue virus(DENV)infection,antibody-dependent enhancement(ADE)is easy to occur when the neutralizing antibody(NAb)gradually decreases to a sub-neutralizing *** this cohort surveillance,we utilized sera samples collected from dengue fever patients at different convalescent phases in Jinghong City,to investigate the dynamic change rule of DENV-specific antibodies,and to analyze the risk of ADE caused by secondary infection with heterologous serotypes *** baseline serosurvey,191 four-year and 99 six-year sera samples during convalescence were collected in 2017 and 2019,*** positive rate of DENVspecific immunoglobulin G was 98.4%in 2017,which significantly decreased to 82.8%in *** geometric mean titer(GMT)of NAb decreased from 1:155.35 to 1:*** 290 overall samples,73 paired consecutive samples were used for follow-up *** four-year sera,the GMTs of NAb against DENV-3 and cross-reactive antibodies against DENV-1,DENV-2 and DENV-4 were 1:167.70,1:13.80,1:18.54 and 1:45.26,respectively,which decreased to 1:53.18,1:10.30,1:14.60 and 1:8.17 in six-year *** age-stratified analysis,due to the increasing number of ADE positive samples from 2017 to 2019 in 31–40 and 51–60 years groups,the risk of ADE in DENV-4 infection was positively associated with the extension of convalescent phase,and the odd ratio was higher than other *** the recovery period lengthened,the risk of secondary infection with DENV-1 and DENV-2 was *** results offer essential experimental data for risk prediction of severe dengue in hyper-endemic dengue areas,and provide crucial scientific insight for the development of effective dengue vaccines.

Background: Recently, despite the steady decline in the tuberculosis (TB) epidemic globally, school TB outbreaks have been frequently reported in China. This study aimed to quantify the transmissibility ofMycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) among students and non-students using a mathematical model to determine characteristics of TB ***: We constructed a dataset of reported TB cases from four regions (Jilin Province, Xiamen City, Chuxiong prefecture, and Wuhan City) in China from 2005 to 2019. We classified the population and the reported cases under student and non-student groups, and developed two mathematical models [nonseasonal model (Model A) and seasonal model (Model B)] based on the natural history and transmission features of TB. The effective reproduction number (R(eff)) of TB between groups were calculated using the collected ***: During the study period, data on 456,423 TB cases were collected from four regions: students accounted for 6.1% of cases. The goodness-of-fit analysis showed that Model A had a better fitting effect (P prefecture, 1.67 (IQR: 1.40–1.93) in Xiamen City, 1.75 (IQR: 1.37–2.02) in Jilin Province, and 1.79 (IQR: 1.56–2.02) in Wuhan City. The average R_(eff) of TB in the non-student population was 23.30 times (1.65/0.07) higher than that in the student ***: The transmissibility of MTB remains high in the non-student population of the areas studied, which is still dominant in the spread of TB. TB transmissibility from the non-student-to-student-population had a strong influence on students. Specific interventions, such as TB screening, should be applied rigorously to control and to prevent TB transmission among students.
