Scheduling plays an important role in many different service industries. In this paper we provide an overview of some of the more important scheduling problems that appear in the various service industries. We focus on the formulations of such problems as well as on the techniques used for solving those problems. We consider five areas of scheduling in service industries, namely （i） project scheduling, （ii） workforce scheduling, （iii） timetabling, reservations, and appointments, （iv） transportation scheduling, and （v） scheduling in entertainment. The first two areas are fairly general and have applications in many different service industries. The third, fourth and fifth areas are more related to some very specific service industries, namely the hospitality and health care industries, the transportation industries （of passengers as well as of cargo）, and the entertainment industries. In our conclusion section we discuss the similarities and the differences between the problem formulations and solution techniques used in the various different industries and we also discuss the design of the decision support systems that have been developed for scheduling in the service industries.

The paper provides a broad discussion of the topic "accruals". Though much of what is said is familiar from the literature on accruals, the paper tries to develop concepts and show how theses forge tight links across a variety of themes. The starting point of the analysis concerns the construct of an *** case is made that it should rest solely on consecutive balance sheets and the splitting of assets/liabilities into(i) cash and approximate cash,assets/liabilities and(ii) all other kinds of assets/liabilities. Given this divide of assets/liabilities one can measure the components in the foundation equation: cash earnings + net accrual = comprehensive earnings. The paper then proceeds to discuss how the net accrual relates to growth in a firm's operating activities and the extent to which it can be informative or *** topic in turn integrates with the issue of a firm's quality of earnings and the role of accounting conservatism. Among the remaining topics, the paper discusses how one conceptualizes diagnostics to assess whether or not a period's accrual is likely to be biased upwards or downwards. It gives rise to a consideration of how one constructs accruals that may be more informative than GAAP accruals and the role of value-relevance studies to assess the information content of accrual constructs. The paper ends with a list of suggestions how future research may be modified in light of the discussions in this paper.

Globalization, which is characterized by the escalating mobility of capital, people, ideas and information on a universal scale, has become a sweeping theme in the contemporary world. Tourism and its associated economic activities are evidently not immune to such a wider context of the world economy. In the past one or two decades, a stable increase has been witnessed in international tourist flows, inter-regional and inter-organizational alliances, and foreign direct investment. These trends are especially prevalent in the developing world, largely because of their pristine nature, di- verse culture, inexpensive goods and services, cheap labours, and other resources. However, it has been cautioned by some scholars, especially those from the Third World countries, that tourism is an industry run by and for the rich, more powerful nations and their corresponding multinational corporations. This article, from the perspective of political economy, supplemented with views from development studies, made a normative analysis on the impacts of the glob- alization of tourism on the Third World destination countries. Specifically, these impacts have been detailed in terms of economic, sociocultural, and ecological domains. It was demonstrated that without appropriate planning and manage- ment, the costs of Third World tourism development may accrue to the extent that its benefits are burned out. To avoid this happening, some suggestions have been made.

This paper studies the reduced rank regression problem,which assumes a low-rank structure of the coefficient matrix,together with heavy-tailed *** address the heavy-tailed noise,we adopt the quantile loss function instead of commonly used squared ***,the non-smooth quantile loss brings new challenges to both the computation and development of statistical properties,especially when the data are large in size and distributed across different *** this end,we first transform the response variable and reformulate the problem into a trace-norm regularized least-square problem,which greatly facilitates the *** on this formulation,we further develop a distributed ***,we establish the convergence rate of the obtained estimator and the theoretical guarantee for rank *** simulation analysis is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of our method.

Exploring the emergence and maintenance of cooperation in social dilemma is valuable and it arises considerable concerns of many researchers. In this paper, we propose a mechanism to promote cooperation, called benefit community,in which cooperators linking together form a common benefit community and all their payoffs obtained from game are divided coequally. The robustness of conclusions is tested for the PDG(prisoners' dilemma game) on square lattice and WS small world network. We find that cooperation can be promoted by this typical mechanism, especially, it can diffuse and prevail more easily and rapidly on the WS small world network than it on the square lattice, even if a big temptation to defect b. Our research provides a feasible direction to resolve the social dilemma.

We study competitive economy equilibrium computation. We show that, for the first time, the equilibrium sets of the following two markets： 1. A mixed Fisher and Arrow- Debreu market with homogeneous and log-concave utility functions; 2. The Fisher and Arrow-Debreu markets with several classes of concave non-homogeneous utility functions; are convex or log-convex. Furthermore, an equilibrium can be computed as convex opti- mization by an interior-point algorithm in polynomial time.

Arsenic-vanadium polyoxometalates（POMs） represent a family of tremendous potential catalysts owing to their peculiar physical and chemical *** in CO2conversion,using POMs to catalyze the conversion of CO2and epoxide into chemical intermediates is the research ***,A new family number of arsenic-vanadium POMs,[n（CH3）4]4[As8V12O38（H2O）]·2H2O({As8V12O38}),was reported and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction,fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,*** from other allotropicity,{As8V12O38}shows a different structure pattern with an I-43d *** obtained {As8V12O38} was employed as a catalyst for the *** initial catalytic reaction confirmed that {As8V12O38} can catalyze the formation of epoxy carbonate by using 1.01 kPa CO2and epoxide at 70℃.Furtherly,when added amine in the catalytic system,oxazolidinone could be obtained by high yields,which provides an efficient way to convert CO2into profitable ***,a possible catalytic reaction mechanism was proposed by using different characterization analyses.{As8V12O38} first catalyzes the epoxide and CO2to form an epoxy carbonate and then catalyzes epoxy carbonate and benzylamine into oxazolidinone.
