Objective:To determine the seroprevalance of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-Co V-2)antibodies in the general population of Mazandaran province in iran and to estimate the percentage of asymptomatic,mild,and severe ***:We chose 1588 inhabitants of Mazandaran province with cluster *** measured their SARS-Co V-2 immunoglobulin M(Ig M)and immunoglobulin G(Ig G)serum ***,risk factors,and symptoms were *** seroprevalence of SARS-Co V-2 was calculated by age and city and the World Health organization(WHO)protocol and further stratified by demographic variables and risk ***,we identified the symptoms and factors related to COVID-19 with logistic ***:Two hundred subjects(12.59%)were tested positive for either Ig G or Ig *** May 23,2020,the prevalence of COVID-19 was 15.26%(95%CI:12.97%-17.79%)based on direct standardization and WHO’s standardized age *** on multivariate logistic regression,the incidence of getting an infection increased by an average of 11.6%for every 10-year increase in age(OR=1.116,95%CI:1.008-1.236,P=0.035).Furthermore,those in contact with COVID-19 patients had a 66.1%higher risk of developing the disease(OR=1.661,95%CI:1.104-2.497,P=0.015).In addition,the chance of getting SARS-Co V-2 infection was almost four times higher in people who had consulted a doctor during the pandemic than those who had not(OR=3.942,95%CI:2.813-5.524,P<0.001).Conclusions:The prevalence of COVID-19 in Mazandaran province could be higher than the officially reported statistics based on diagnostic tests and clinical *** seems to be more asymptomatic or mild symptom cases than what was previously reported.

Objective:To establish a spatial geo-database for scorpions in iran,and to identify the suitable ecological niches for the most dangerous scorpion species under different climate change ***:The spatial distribution of six poisonous scorpion species of iran were modeled:Hemiscorpius lepturus,Androctonus crassicauda,Mesobuthus eupeus,Hottentotta saulcyi,Hottentotta zagrosensis,and Odontobuthus(O.)doriae,under RCP2.6 and RCP8.5 climate change *** Max Ent ecological niche model was used to predict climate suitability for these scorpion species in the 2030 s and 2050 s,and the data were compared with environmental suitability under the current bioclimatic ***:A total of 73 species and subspecies of scorpions belonging to 19 genera in iran were *** Province has the highest species diversity with 34 species and *** most poisonous scorpion species of iran are scattered in the semi-arid climates,at an altitudinal range between 11 m and 2954 m above sea *** is projected that ***,Androctonus crassicauda and Mesobuthus eupeus species would be widely distributed in most parts of the country,whereas the most suitable ecological niches for the other species would be limited to the west and/or southwestern part of ***:Although the environmental suitability for all the species would change under the two climate change scenarios,the change would be more significant for *** under RCP8.5 in the 2050 *** findings can be used as basis for future studies in the areas with the highest environmental suitability for the most dangerous scorpion species to fill the gaps in the ecology of scorpion species in these areas.

The repair and regeneration of the diseases and damaged cartilage tissue are one of the most challenging issues in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. As the cartilage is a non-vascularized and comparatively acellular connective tissue, its ability to the self-restoration is limited to a large extent. Although there is a countless deal of experimental documents on this field, no quantifiable cure exists to bring back the healthy organization and efficacy of the impaired articular cartilage. Tissue reformative approaches have been of excessive curiosity in restoring injured cartilage. Bioengineering of the cartilage has progressed from the cartilage focal damages treatment to bioengineering tactics progress aiming the osteoarthritis procedures. The main focus of the present study is on the diverse potential development of strategies such as various categories of biomaterials applied in the reconstruction of the cartilage tissue.

<i>GJB2</i>Gene Related Nonsyndromic Hearing Loss in Mazandaran Province, North of iran

Introduction: Congenital hearing loss is the most common sensory deficit in the world and mutations in GJB2 gene are the most common cause of deafness in many populations. Frequency of GJB2 mutations is estimated about 16% in iran and varies among different provinces with a decreasing trend from north to south. The aim of this study was to investigate the frequency of GJB2 mutations in Mazandaran province, north of iran, among non-syndromic hearing loss patients. Methods: 262 patients from 204 families participated in this study. After genomic DNA extraction, GJB2 gene analysis was carried out using DNA sequencing of both coding and non-coding regions by ABI 3130XL genetic analyzer. Results: 30.15% of all subjects showed mutations in GJB2 gene. Four mutations, including c.35delG (Gly12Valfs*), IVSI-1 + 1G > A, c.95G > A (Arg32His) and c.224 G > A (Arg75Gln) comprises 69.89% of all mutations in this study c.35delG and IVSI-1 were the most common mutations among patients respectively. Codon 75 mutation (c.224G > A. p: Arg75Gln) with autosomal dominant inheritance was seen in 7 cases from 3 families. 22 patients showed only one mutation in GJB2 gene and in 126 (48.09%) individuals, parents had a consanguineous marriage. Discussion: Frequency of GJB2 gene related hearing loss among patients was higher than average (16%) in this province. This study also showed a dominant inheritance pattern of GJB2 gene in this area. Consanguineous marriage also showed highly frequent among parents. More investigation needs to clarify cause of hearing loss in those 22 patients with one mutation in GJB2 gene, either two gene inheritance or another gene may be responsible for hearing loss.

Purpose:The median time from the event leading to the spinal cord injury(SCI)to the time of decompressive surgery is estimated to be 6.9 days in iran,which is much longer than the proposed ideal time(less than 24 h)in published *** current qualitative study aimed to determine the reasons for the observed decompression surgery delay in iran from the perspective of ***:This qualitative study is designed to perform content analysis on the gathered data from face-to-face semi-structured interviews with 12 iranian ***:The findings of the current study suggest that patient-related factors constitute more than half of the codes extracted from the ***,the type of injury,presence of polytrauma,and surgeons’’wrong attitude are the main factors causing delayed spinal cord decompression in iranian patients from the perspective of *** notable factors include delay in transferring patients to the trauma center,delay in availability of necessary equipment,and scarce medical ***:In the perspective of neurosurgeons,the type of injury,presence of polytrauma,and surgeons’’wrong attitude are the leading reasons for delayed decompressive surgery of individuals with SCI in iran.

Objective:To evaluate the effects of Aloe vera extract on the immunity responses and haematological parameters in rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss)fry to develop alternative drug to chemotherapeutics in ***:Six hundred rainbow trout(Oncorhynchus mykiss)fry were randomly allocated into two treatment groups including 1)placebo-treated group(control),2)Aloe vera extract-treated group,each of three *** fishes were hand-fed once a day with diet medicated AE or placebo at the rate of 1%in feed in the first feeding for 10 *** the end of the identical every two weeks 24 h after feeding,some of haematological and immunological parameters were ***:The results showed that serum total protein,albumin and globulin,respiratory burst activity,phagocytic activity and serum lysozyme activity vary among the two treatment groups which were found to be higher in Aloe vera extract-treated group(P0.05).Conclusions:It was concluded that supplementation of AE at a rate of 1%in feed registered higher immunological responses in compared to placebo ***,supplementation of AE in fish diets enhances non-specific immune system in *** may use in fish diets particularly at time of outbreaks.

Adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction improves tendon healing in rabbits

Objective： To evaluate the potential effects of uncultured adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction on tendon healing. Methods： Twenty five adult male New Zealand white rabbits weighing 2.5-3.0 kg were used. Five rabbits were used as donors of adipose tissue and the rest were divided into control and treatment groups. The injury model was completed by unilateral tenotomy through the middle one third of deep digital flexor tendon. Immediately after suture repair, either fresh stromal vascular fraction from enzymatic digestion of adipose tissue or placebo was intratendinously injected at tendon stumps in treatment and control groups, respectively. Immobilization with cast was continued for two weeks after surgery. Animals were sacrificed at eight weeks after surgery and tendons underwent histological, immunohistochemical, and mechanical evaluations. Statistical analyses of quantitative and qualitative data were assessed using one-way analysis of variance and MannWhitney U-test, respectively. Results： Histological evaluations demonstrated superior fibrillar linearity and continuity, and decreased vascularity in treatment group indicated improved organization and remodeling of neotendons. Immunohistochemistry demonstrated a significant increase in collagen I expression in treatment group. Ultimate load and energy absorption capacity were both significantly increased in cell-treated repairs compared with controls. Conclusion： The present study shows that intratendinous injection of uncultured adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction results in improved structural and mechanical properties of tendon repairs and it could be an effective modality for treating tendon injury.

Background: Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer and results in 14% of cancer-related deaths among women worldwide. The aim of this study is to investigate the anticancer effects of Silymarin on two breast cancer cell lines (BT-474, SK-BR-3). Methods and Material: Two breast cancer cell lines—SK-BR-3 and BT-474—were incubated for 24 hours in standard conditions before adding 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600 μM Silymarin to each well. Alamar blue was then added to the wells after 24, 48 and 72 hours of incubation and cell viability was determined using fluorescence reader to detect the optical density. Results were analyzed using generalized estimating equations (GEE) method in STATA 12.0. Results: we demonstrated the?Silybum marianum?inhibition of two-cell lines SK-BR-3 and BT-474 growth at different concentrations after 24, 48 and 72 hours. Silymarin increased cell death in both cell lines. Conclusion: Silymarin can be combined with other anti-neoplastic agents to obtain better results.

iran experienced one of the largest methanol poisoning outbreaks shortly after the coronavirus pandemic due to misinformation about the beneficial effects of alcohol in preventing and treating this viral infection.^([1])According to the iran legal medicine organization(LMO),over 3,100 methanol toxicity cases and 728 deaths were reported across the country,resulting in a syndemic of methanol poisoning.^([2])There is very little literature on the electrographic predictors of cardiovascular mortality in methanol poisoned patients.^([3])

Predicting cutaneous leishmaniasis using SARIMA and Markov switching models in Isfahan, iran: A time-series study

Objective:To determine the potential effect of environment variables on cutaneous leishmaniasis occurrence using time-series models and compare the predictive ability of seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average(SARIMA)models and Markov switching model(MSM).Methods:This descriptive study employed yearly and monthly data of 49364 parasitologically-confirmed cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Isfahan province,located in the center of iran from January 2000 to December *** data were provided by the leishmaniasis national surveillance system,the meteorological organization of Isfahan province,and iranian Space Agency for vegetation *** SARIMA and MSM models were implemented to examine the environmental factors of cutaneous leishmaniasis ***:The minimum relative humidity,maximum relative humidity,minimum wind speed,and maximum wind speed were significantly associated with cutaneous leishmaniasis epidemics in different lags(P<0.05).Comparing SARIMA and MSM,Akaikes information criterion(AIC),and mean absolute percentage error(MAPE)in MSM were much smaller than SARIMA models(MSM:AIC=0.95,MAPE=3.5%;SARIMA:AIC=158.93,MAPE:11.45%).Conclusions:SARIMA and MSM can be a useful tool for predicting cutaneous leishmaniasis in Isfahan *** cutaneous leishmaniasis falls into one of two states of epidemic and non-epidemic,the use of MSM(dynamic)is recommended,which can provide more information compared to models that use a single distribution for all observations(Box-Jenkins SARIMA model).
