Arbuscular mycorrhizae status of host plant affects offspring’s phenotype and transcriptome expression in a low-phosphorus environment

Although the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)on host plants have been well documented,whether the effects of AMF on parental generations affect offspring performance is not fully *** conducted a common garden experiment to determine whether AMF status of host plants(Medicago truncatula)affects phenotype and transcriptome expression of their *** from four type parental treatments(low-phosphorus(P)soil without AMF,low-P soil with AMF,high-P soil without AMF and high-P soil with AMF)were grown under low-P(LPS)and normal-P soil(OHS)*** fowering pattern of LP offspring was similar to their parents,such that plants with AMF fowered earlier than those without AMF under OHS condition but were opposite under LPS *** transcriptome differential analysis showed that some differential transcripts(45 for parental plants growing under low-P condition and 3 for parental plants growing under high-P condition)expression patterns between offspring were comparable,and that only affected by parental AMF status regardless of the P environment that offspring was ***(146 for parental plants growing under low-P condition and 2 for parental plants growing under high-P condition),however,were affected both by the parental AMF status and the offspring P *** addition,the number of differential transcripts between offspring whose parental plants grew under high-P condition was far less than under low-P *** results indicate that AMF may not only affect the current generation of host plants but also affect the offspring especially when their parents have experienced a stressful environment.

The common walnut(Juglans regia)is one of the most economically important nut trees cultivated *** its importance,no comprehensive evaluation of walnut tree population genetics has been undertaken across the range where it originated,Central *** this study,we investigated the genetic diversity and population structure of 1082 individuals from 46 populations across Central *** found moderate genetic diversity of *** across Central Asia,with 46 populations clustered into three groups with a weak relationship between genetic and geographic *** findings reveal that the western Himalaya might be the core region of common walnut genetic diversity in Central Asia and that,except for two populations in Gongliu Wild Walnut Valley,humans might have introduced walnut populations to Xinjiang,*** observed distribution of the genetic landscape has probably been affected by historical climate fluctuation,breeding system,and prolonged anthropogenic *** propose the conservation of the core genetic diversity resources in the western Himalaya and pay special attention to populations from Gongliu in *** findings enhance our understanding of the genetic variation throughout the distribution range of *** in Central Asia,which will provide a key prerequisite for evidence-based conservation and management.

New indole derivatives from endophytic fungus Colletotruchum sp. HK-08 originated from leaves of Nerium indicum

Objective: To study secondary metabolites from endophytic fungus Colletotruchum sp. HK-08 originated from the leaves of Nerium ***: The compounds were isolated by various column chromatographic techniques, and their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic techniques [high resolution electrospray ionization mass spectroscopy(HRESIMS), one-dimensional(1D) and two-dimensional(2D) nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(NMR)], as well as comparison with literature data. The Ellman method was used to determine the acetylcholinesterase(ACh E) inhibitory ***: Four indole derivatives were identified from Colletotruchum sp. HK-08, including 6’-hydroxymonaspiloindole(1), 2-(2-oxoindolin-3-yl)ethyl 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl) acetate(2), 2-(2-oxoindolin-3-yl)ethyl 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)acetate(3), and monaspiloindole(4). Compound 4 presented weak ACh E inhibitory activity with IC50value of(69.30 ± 6.27) μmol/L [tacrine as the positive control, with IC50value of(0.61 ± 0.07) μmol/L].Conclusion: Compounds 1–3 were new compounds, and compound 4 had weak ACh E inhibitory activity.

Plant alkaloids,renowned for their structural diversity and bioactivity,are prominent in both modern and traditional medicine[1].Unraveling the intricacies of plant alkaloid biosynthesis could pave the way for the discovery of new natural products and *** may also shed light on the roles of existing pathways in host biology and provide valuable tools for metabolic engineering in plants and microbes[2].Unlike other major classes of plant natural products,such as terpenoids and polyketides,the formation of alkaloid scaffolds does not conform to a uniform chemical theme or depend on a singular enzyme class[3].A case in point is the Lycopodium alkaloids in the Lycopodiaceae family,where the enzymes responsible for their core scaffold construction remain unidentified[4].

Fine mapping and cloning of the sterility gene Bra2Ms in nonheading Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa ***)

The application of a male-sterile line is an ideal approach for hybrid seed production in non-heading Chinese cabbage(Brassica rapa ***).However,the molecular mechanisms underlying male sterility in *** are still largely *** previously obtained the natural male sterile line WS24-3 of non-heading Chinese cabbage and located the male sterile locus,Bra2Ms,on the A2 *** observations revealed that the male sterility of WS24-3 resulted from disruption of the meiosis process during pollen *** mapping of Bra2Ms delimited the locus within a physical distance of about 129 kb on the A2 chromosome of *** Bra039753 gene encodes a plant homeodomain(PHD)-finger protein and is considered a potential candidate gene for ***039753 was significantly downregulated in sterile line WS24-3 compared to the fertile line at the meiotic anther *** analysis of Bra039753 identified a 369 bp fragment insertion in the first exon in male sterile plants,which led to an amino acid insertion in the Bra039753 *** addition,the 369 bp fragment insertion was found to cosegregate with the male sterility *** study identified a novel locus related to male sterility in non-heading Chinese cabbage,and the molecular marker obtained in this study will be beneficial for the marker-assisted selection of excellent sterile lines in non-heading Chinese cabbage and other Brassica crops.

Rare actinomycete genera are highly recognized as a promising source of structurally diverse and bioactive natural *** these genera,Allokutzneria and Kibdelosporangium are two phylogenetically closely related and have been reported to encode some valuable biosynthetic enzymes and secondary ***,there is currently no relevant systematic research available to outline the linkage of genomic and metabolomics for specific secondary metabolites in these two promising *** this study,we first investi-gated the genus-specific secondary metabolic potential in Allokutzneria and Kibdelosporangium by comparing the diversity and novelty of their secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs).The specific secondary metabolites produced by two representative strains of these genera were comprehensively investigated using untargeted metabolomics *** findings unveiled that the majority(95.4%)of the gene cluster families(GCFs)encoded by Allokutzneria and Kibdelosporangium were genus-specific,including NRPS GCFs encoding *** untargeted metabolomics analysis revealed that the metabolic profiles of two representative strains exhibit extensive specificity,with the culture medium having a big impact on the metabolic ***,an MS-cluster featuring a series of hydroxamate-type siderophores was identified from Allokutzneria albata JCM 9917,with two of them,including a novel one(N-deoxy arthrobactin A),being experimentally *** present study offers valuable insights for the targeted discovery of genus-specific natural products from microorganisms.
