Microwave Transmission Through One-Dimensional Hybrid Quasi-Regular （Fibonacci and Thue-Morse）/ Periodic Structures

The transmission properties of hybrid quasi-periodic photonic systems （HQPS） made by the combination of one-dimensional periodic photonic crystals （PPCs） and quasi-periodic photonic crystals （QPCs） were theoretically studied. The hybrid quasi-periodic photonic lattice based on the hetero-structures was built from the Fibonacci and Thue-Morse sequences. We addressed the microwave properties of waves through the one-dimensional symmetric Fibonacci, and Thue-Morse system i.e., a quasi-periodic structure was made up of two different dielectric materials （Rogers and air）, in the quarter wavelength condition. It shows that controlling the Fibonacci parameters permits to obtain selective optical filters with the narrow passband and polychromatic stop band filters with varied properties which can be controlled as desired. From the results, we presented the self-similar features of the spectra, and we also presented the fractal process through a return map of the transmission coefficients. We extracted powerfully the band gaps of hybrid quasi-periodic multilayered structures, called ＂pseudo band gaps＂, often containing resonant states, which could be considered as a manifestation of numerous defects distributed along the structure. The results of transmittance spectra showed that the cutoff frequency could be manipulated through the thicknesses of the defects and the type of dielectric layers of the system. Taken together, the above two properties provide favorable conditions for the design of an all-microwave intermediate reflector.

Distribution of Avian Influenza A Viruses in Poultry-Related Environment and Its Association with Human Infection in Henan, 2016 to 2017

Objective To survey avian influenza A viruses(AIVs) in the environment and explore the reasons for the surge in human H7 N9 *** A total of 1,045 samples were collected from routine surveillance on poultry-related environments and 307 samples from human H7 N9 cases-exposed environments in Henan from 2016 to2017. The nucleic acids of influenza A(Flu A), H5, H7, and H9 subtypes were detected by real-time polymerase chain *** A total of 27 H7 N9 cases were confirmed in Henan from 2016 to 2017, 24 had a history of live poultry exposure, and 15 had H7 N9 virus detected in the related live poultry markets(lpms). About 96%(264/275) Flu A positive-environmental samples were from lpms. H9 was the main AIV subtype(10.05%) from routine surveillance sites with only 1 H7-positive sample, whereas 21.17% samples were H7-positive in H7 N9 cases-exposed environments. Samples from H7 N9 cases-exposed lpms(47.56%)had much higher AIVs positive rates than those from routine surveillance sites(12.34%). The H7+H9 combination of mixed infection was 78.18%(43/55) of H7-positive samples and 41.34%(43/104) of H9-positive *** The contamination status of AIVs in poultry-related environments is closely associated with the incidence of human infection caused by AIVs. Therefore, systematic surveillance of AIVs in lpms in China is essential for the detection of novel reassortant viruses and their potential for interspecies transmission.

Lattice plasmon mode excitation via near-field coupling

Human infections with influenza H7 subtypes, such as H7Ng, have raised concerns worldwide. Here, we report a human infection with a novel influenza A（HTN4） virus. A 68 years-old woman with cardiovascular and cholecystic comorbidities developed rapidly progressed pneumonia with influenza-like-illness as initial symptom, recovered after 23 days-hospitalization including 8 days in ICLI. laboratory indicators for liver and blood coagulation dysfunction were observed. Oseltamivir phosphate, glucocorticoids and antibiotics were jointly implemented, with nasal catheterization of oxygen inhalation for this patient. We obtained the medical records and collected serial respiratory and blood specimens from her. We col- lected throat, cloacal and/or feces samples of poultry and wild birds from the patient＇s backyard, neigh- borhood, local live poultry markets （lpms） and the nearest lake. All close contacts of the patient were followed up and sampled with throat swabs and sera. Influenza viruses and other respiratory pathogens were tested by real-time RT-PCR, viral culturing and/or sequencing for human respiratory and bird sam- ples. Micro-neutralizing assay was performed for sera. A novel reassortant wild bird-origin H7N4 virus is identified from the patient and her backyard poultry （chickens and ducks） by sequencing, which is dis- tinct from previously-reported avian H7N4 and H7N9 viruses. At least four folds increase of neutralizing antibodies to H7N4 was detected in her convalescent sera. No samples from close contacts, wild birds or other poultry were tested positive for H7N4 by real-time RT-PCR.

Discovery of tigecycline resistance genes tet(X3) and tet(X4) in live poultry market worker gut microbiomes and the surrounded environment

He and his colleagues[1]reported identification of the mobile resistance genes tet(X3)and tet(X4)on conjugative plasmids in Enterobacteriaceae and Acinetobacter isolated in China recently published in Nature *** noted that both tet(X3)and tet(X4)can confer resistance to tigecycline and the newly FDA-approved eravacycline and omadacyclin,which are last-resort antibiotics used to treat multi-drug-resistant(MDR)bacterial *** previous report[2]revealed that live poultry market(LPM)is a huge antibiotic resistance gene(ARG)reservoir,including the mobile colistin resistance(mcr)genes,mcr-1,mcr-3,mcr-4 and ***-scale metagenomic data screening showed that tigecycline resistance gene tet(X3)was widespread in poultry faecal samples collected from China lpms,whereas it has not been detected in human(n=2019)gut microbiomes[3],which suggested that tet(X3)is previously confined to animal guts or animal-derived bacteria.

Effects of closing and reopening live poultry markets on the epidemic of human infection with avian influenza A virus

Live poultry markets（lpms） are crucial places for human infection of influenza A（H7N9 virus）.In Yangtze River Delta,lpms were closed after the outbreak of human infection with avian influenza A（H7N9） virus,and then reopened when no case was *** purpose was to quantify the effect of lpms＇ operations in this region on the transmission of influenza A（H7N9） *** obtained information about dates of symptom onset and locations for all human influenza A（H7N9） cases reported from Shanghai,Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces by May 31,2014,and acquired dates of closures and reopening of lpms from official media.A two-phase Bayesian model was fitted by Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods to process the spatial and temporal influence of human cases.A total of 235 cases of influenza A（H7N9） were confirmed in Shanghai,Jiangsu and Zhejiang by May 31,*** these data,our analysis showed that,after LPM closures,the influenza A（H7N9） outbreak disappeared within two weeks in Shanghai,one week in Jiangsu,and one week in Zhejiang,*** authorities reopened lpms when there was no outbreak of influenza A（H7N9）,which did not lead to reemergence of human influenza A（H7N9）.LPM closures were effective in controlling the H7N9 *** of LPM in summer did not increase the risk of human infection with *** findings showed that lpms should be closed immediately in areas where the H7N9 virus is confirmed in *** there is no outbreak of H7N9 virus,lpms can be reopened to satisfy the Chinese traditional culture of buying live *** the long term,local authorities should take a cautious attitude in permanent LPM closure.
