Kinetics of thermal decomposition of hydrated minerals associated with hematite ore in a fluidized bed reactor

The kinetics of removal of loss on ignition(LOI) by thermal decomposition of hydrated minerals present in natural iron ores(i.e.,kaolinite,gibbsite,and goethite) was investigated in a laboratory-scale vertical fluidized bed reactor(FBR) using isothermal methods of kinetic *** in the FBR in batch processes were carried out at different temperatures(300 to 1200°C) and residence time(1 to 30 min) for four different iron ore samples with various LOIs(2.34wt% to 9.83wt%).The operating velocity was maintained in the range from 1.2 to 1.4 times the minimum fluidization velocity(Umf).We observed that,below a certain critical temperature,the FBR did not effectively reduce the LOI to a desired level even with increased residence *** results of this study indicate that the LOI level could be reduced by 90% within 1 min of residence time at 1100°*** kinetics for low-LOI samples(<6wt%) indicates two different reaction mechanisms in two temperature *** lower temperatures(300 to 700°C),the kinetics is characterized by a lower activation energy(diffusion-controlled physical moisture removal),followed by a higher activation energy(chemically controlled removal of LOI).In the case of high-LOI samples,three different kinetics mechanisms prevail at different temperature *** temperature up to 450°C,diffusion kinetics prevails(removal of physical moisture);at temperature from 450 to 650°C,chemical kinetics dominates during removal of matrix *** temperatures greater than 650°C,nucleation and growth begins to influence the rate of removal of LOI.

Engineering atomic Rb-N configurations to tune radical pathways for highly selective photocatalytic H2O2 synthesis coupled with biomass valorization

Photocatalytic oxygen reduction for hydrogen peroxide （H2O2） synthesis presents a green and costeffective production ***,achieving highly selective H2O2synthesis remains challenging,necessitating precise control over free radical reaction pathways and minimizing undesirable oxidative ***,we report for the visible light-driven simultaneous co-photocatalytic reduction of O2to H2O2and oxidation of biomass using the atomic rubidium-nitride modified carbon nitride（CNRb）.The optimized CNRb catalyst demonstrates a record photoreduction rate of 8.01 mM h-1for H2O2generation and photooxidation rate of 3.75 mM h-1for furfuryl alcohol to furoic acid,achieving a remarkable solar-to-chemical conversion （SCC） efficiency of up to 2.27%.Experimental characterizations and DFT calculation disclosed that the introducing atomic Rb–N configurations allows for the high-selective generation of superoxide radicals while suppressing hydroxyl free radical *** is because the Rb–N serves as the new alternative site to perceive a stronger connection position for O2adsorption and reinforce the capability to extract protons,thereby triggering a high selective redox product *** study holds great potential in precisely regulating reactive radical processes at the atomic level,thereby paving the way for efficient synthesis of H2O2coupled with biomass valorization.

Synthesis of cerium-doped MCM-48 molecular sieves and its catalytic performance for selective oxidation of cyclohexane

Cerium-doped MCM-48 molecular sieves were synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption, transmission electron microscope, FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-visible spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. The results showed that all the samples held the structure of MCM-48, and Ce could enter the framework of MCM-48. However, when Ce/Si molar ratio in the sampies was high （0.04 or 0.059）, there were CeO2 crystallites as secondary phase in the extraframework of MCM-48. Ce-doped MCM-48 was a very efficient catalyst for the oxidation of cyclohexane in a solvent-free system with oxygen as an oxidant. In the conditions of 0.5 MPa 02 and 413 K for 5 h, the conversion of cyclohexane was 8.1% over Ce-MCM-48-0.02, the total selectivity of cyclohexanol and cyclohaxnone was 98.7%. With an increase of Ce content, the conversion of cyclohexane and the selectivity to cyclohexanol decreased somewhat, but the selectivity to cyclohexanone increased.

Dolochar as a reductant in the reduction roasting of iron ore slimes

The present investigation examines the viability of dolochar, a sponge iron industry waste material, as a reductant in the reduction roasting of iron ore slimes, which are another waste generated by iron ore beneficiation plants. Under statistically determined optimum conditions, which include a temperature of 900°C, a reductant-to-feed mass ratio of 0.35, and a reduction time of 30–45 min, the roasted mass, after being subjected to low-intensity magnetic separation, yielded an iron ore concentrate of approximately 64 wt% Fe at a mass recovery of approximately 71% from the feed iron ore slime assaying 56.2 wt% Fe. X-ray diffraction analyses indicated that the magnetic products contain magnetite and hematite as the major phases, whereas the nonmagnetic fractions contain quartz and hematite.

Synthesis of Ln-doped MCM-41 mesoporous materials and their catalytic performance in oxidation of styrene

Using cetyl-trimethyl-ammonium bromide （CTMAB） as the template agent and tetraethylorthosilicate （TEOS） as the silica source, the MCM-41 mesoporous materials were synthesized with La or Ce incorporated in the framework under hydrothermal conditions. The structure and the state of La or Ce were investigated through the analyses of XRD, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, FT-IR, and UV-Vis. XRD and N2 adsorption-desorption results showed that Ln-MCM-41 exhibited the loss of the lattice ordering of the MCM-41 construct, and larger unit cell parameter and pore diameter than pure silica MCM-41. The FT-IR and UV-Vis results indicated the presence of isolated tetra-coordinated La or Ce ions in the framework and other Ln species dispersed highly on the Ln-MCM-41 surface simultaneously. Furthermore, their catalytic behaviors in the oxidation of styrene were studied using H2O2 as the oxidant. The La-MCM-41 catalysts exhibited high reactivity and the reactivity increased with the increase of the La content in the La-MCM-41 samples. On the contrary, Ce-MCM-41 catalysts showed low reactivity in the oxidation of styrene and the conversion of styrene decreased with the increase of the Ce content in the Ce-MCM-41 samples.

The relationship between formate adsorption energy and electronic properties: A first principles density functional theory study

First principles density functional theory calculations have been performed for the chemisorption of formate adsorption on some metal surfaces. For the most stable adsorption site of short-bridge, the calculated formate adsorption energy follows the order of Au(110) < Ag(110) < Cu(110) < Pd(110) < Pt(110) < Ni(110) < Rh(110) < Fe(100) < Mo(100), and a clear linear correlation exists between the adsorption energy and the corresponding heat of formation of metal oxides. Moreover, it has been found that the formate adsorption energy for the transition metals can be correlated well with its d-band center (εd), and the IB Group metals can be described by the coupling matrix element square (Vad2).

Cells are the fundamental units of biological systems and exhibit unique development trajectories and molecular features. Our exploration of how the genomes orchestrate the formation and maintenance of each cell, and control the cellular phenotypes of various organismsis, is both captivating and intricate. Since the inception of the first single-cell RNA technology, technologies related to single-cell sequencing have experienced rapid advancements in recent years. These technologies have expanded horizontally to include single-cell genome, epigenome,proteome, and metabolome, while vertically, they have progressed to integrate multiple omics data and incorporate additional information such as spatial sc RNA-seq and CRISPR screening. Single-cell omics represent a groundbreaking advancement in the biomedical field,offering profound insights into the understanding of complex diseases, including cancers. Here, we comprehensively summarize recent advances in single-cell omics technologies, with a specific focus on the methodology section. This overview aims to guide researchers in selecting appropriate methods for single-cell sequencing and related data analysis.

Standing wave drift of hemispherical resonator with quality factor non-uniformity under a ring electrode excitation

Hemispherical Resonator Gyroscope(HRG)is a classical high precision Coriolis Vibration Gyroscope(CVG),which performs attitude estimation of carrier by detecting the precession of standing wave of resonator,thus,the drift of standing wave of resonator has a great influence on the output accuracy of gyroscope,where the quality factor non-uniformity of resonator is one of main error *** electrode is a classical excitation structure of HRG because the standing wave can precess freely under its excitation,which makes the gyroscope have more accurate scale factor,larger measurement range and better dynamic *** this paper,the equations of motion of an ideal resonator excited by a ring electrode are derived by the elastic thin shell theory and Lagrange mechanical principle,then the corresponding equivalent mechanical model is *** to the“average method”,it can be seen that the ideal resonator excited by the ring electrode works in integral mode,and any position in the circumferential direction of resonator can be a working point,which means that the quality factor non-uniformity has a great effect on the drift of standing ***,the equations of motion of resonator with quality factor non-uniformity under the ring electrode excitation are deduced by the equivalent mechanical model,and the drift model of standing wave is established by the“average method”,it can be found that both the amplitude of quality factor non-uniformity and angle between the“inherent damping axis”and antinode axis of standing wave can affect the drift rate of standing ***,the drift model indicates that if the input angular rate does not reach the threshold,the precession angular rate of standing wave will appear“self-locking”phenomenon,that is,the gyroscope will lose the integral effect.
