The poultry industry is experiencing rapid growth *** accelerated growth has led to multiple food fraud incidents across the food supply chain,which consequently created a demand for precise determination of quality poultry *** increase in demand for precise poultry production quality has necessitated advanced *** has emerged as a viable solution by offering detailed differentiation of biochemical indicators throughout the poultry supply ***,this study provides a means to address risk factors affecting the poultry industry without compromising animal welfare,which is a critical *** review focuses on important issues related to poultry product quality *** adulteration has escalated in recent years as it is driven by the increasing focus on consuming high-quality and nutritious ***,there is no specifc guideline for such determinations,especially when appearance,texture,and taste can be manipulated by substituting for food *** can pave the way for a deeper understanding of existing and novel biochemical indicators responsible for determining the quality of poultry meat and *** approach holds the potential to enhance the overall quality of poultry meat and egg products while also preventing food fraud.

Antimicrobial activity and essential oils of Curcuma aeruginosa,Curcuma mangga,and Zingiber cassumunar from Malaysia

Objective:To analyze the chemical composition of the essential oils of Curcuma aeruginosa (***),Curcuma mangga(***),and Zingiber cassumunar(***). and study their antimicrobial ***:Essential oils obtained by steam distillation were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass speclrometry(GC-MS).The antimicrobial activity of the essential oils was evaluated against four bacteria:Bacillus cereus(***).Staphylococcus aureus(***).Escherichia coli(***).and Pseudomonas aeruginosa(***);and two fungi:Candida albicans(***) and Cyptococcus neoformans(***),using disc-diffusion and broth microdilution ***:Cycloisolongifolene,8.9-dehydro-9- formyl(35.29%) and dihydrocoslunolide(22.51%) were the major compounds in *** oil; whereas caryophyllene oxide(18.71%) and caryophyllene(12.69%) were the major compounds in *** oil:and 2,6.9,9-tetramethyl-2.6.10-cycloundecatrien-1-one(60.77%) andα-caryophyllene(23.92%) were abundant in *** *** essential oils displayed varying degrees of antimicrobial activity against all lested *** oil had the highest and most broad-spectrum activity by inhibiting all microorganisms tested,with *** being the most sensitive microorganism by having the lowest minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC) and minimum fungicidal concentration(MFC) values of 0.1μL/mL. *** oil showed mild antimicrobial activity,whereas *** had very low or weak activity against the tested ***:The preliminary results suggest promising antimicrobial properties of *** and ***,which may be useful for food preservation,pharmaceutical treatment and natural therapies.

The potential of standardized quassinoid-rich extract of Eurycoma longifolia in the regulation of the oestrous cycle of rats

Objective: To evaluate the effects of Eurycoma longifolia(E. longifolia) standardized extract on the oestrous cycle, levels of reproductive hormones and histology of the ovaries of Sprague-Dawley ***: Female rats were orally treated with E. longifolia standardized extract at the dose levels of 2.5, 5.0, 10.0, 25.0, 50.0 and 100.0 mg/kg of body weight over 5 *** smears were monitored daily within the duration and after withdrawal of the treatment before being sacrificed. The body weights of the females were recorded before and after the 5 days treatment. At the end of the experiments, blood samples were collected for determination of testosterone, oestradiol and progesterone levels. Ovaries were removed, weighed and examined for histomorphological ***: The administration of E. longifolia standardized extract did not significantly alter the oestrous cycle of the rats during the 5 days treatment and after withdrawal of the treatments. This was supported by normal testosterone, oestradiol and progesterone levels as well as normal morphology of the ***: The data obtained showed that E. longifolia standardized extract did not exhibit any toxic effect on reproductive activities of female rats suggesting potential use in the management of infertility.

Cytotoxicity screening of Melastoma malabathricum extracts on human breast cancer cell lines in vitro

Objective:To screen the cytotoxic activity of Melasloma malabathricum(M,malubathricum)against human breast carreer cell line(MCF-7)in ***:A three steps extraction protocol using n-hexane,chloroform and methanol as the solvents systems was carried out on leaves,stems and flowers of *** sulfoxide was used in extracts dilution and serial dilutions were conducted to obtain five different extract concentrations(100μg/mL,50μg/mL,25μg/mL,123μg/rnL and 6.25μg/mL).The evaluation of cell growth was determined using methylene blue ***:Methanol extract from the leaves showed significant anticancer activity against MCF-7cell lines with the TC_(50)value of 7.14μg/ml while methanol and chloroform extract from the flowers exhibited a moderate activity towards MCF-7 cell line,with the IC_(50)value of 33.63μg/mL and 45.76μg/mL respectively after 72 h of ***:The extracts from leaves and flowers of *** showed promising anticancer activity toward human breast cancer cell lines with the lowest IC_(50)at 7.14μg/mL while the extracts from stems showed less growth inhibition activity.

Intracellular biosynthesis of Au and Ag nanoparticles using ethanolic extract of Brassica oleracea L. and studies on their physicochemical and biological properties

In this present study, we reported broccoli （Brassica oleracea L.） as a potential candidate for the synthesis of gold and silver nanoparticles （NPs） in green chemistry method. The synthesized metal nanoparticles are evaluated their antimicrobial efficacy against different human pathogenic organisms. The physico-chemical properties of gold nanoparticles were analyzed using different analytical techniques such as a UV-Vis spectrophotometer, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and a Fourier Transform Infrared spectrophotometer. In addition, gold and silver NP antimicrobial efficacy was checked by disc diffusion assay. UV-Vis color intensity of the nanoparticles was shown at 540 and 450 nm for gold and silver nanoparticles respectively. Higher magnification of the Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy image shows the variable morphology of the gold nanoparticles such as spherical, rod and triangular shapes and silver nanoparticles were seen in spherical shapes. The average spherical size of the particles was observed in 24- 38 nm for gold and 30-45 nm for silver NPs. X-ray diffraction pattern confirmed the presence of gold nanopartides and silver nanoparticles which were crystalline in nature. Additionally, the functional metabolites were identified by the Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy. IR spectra revealed phenols, alcohols, aldehydes （sugar moieties）, vitamins and proteins are present in the broccoli extract which are accountable to synthesize the nanoparticles. The synthesized gold and silver NPs inhibited the growth of the tested bacterial and fungal pathogens at the concentration of 50 μg/mL respectively. In addition, broccoli mediated gold and silver nanoparticles have shown potent antimicrobial activity against human pathogens.

Objective:To study the chemical constituents of stembark of Garcinia malaccenm（***） together with *** and antioxidant ***:Purification and structure elucidation were carried out by chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques, *** and trypan blue exclusion methods were performed to study the cytotoxic *** activity was conducted by dise diffusion and microdilulion methods, whereas antioxidant activities were done by ferric thiocyanate method and DPPH radical ***:The phylochemical study led lo the isolation ofα,β-mangostin and cycloarl-24-en-3β-ol.α-Mangostin exhibited cytotoxic activity against HSC-3 cells with an IC50 of 0.33μM.β- andα-mangostin showed activity against K562 cells with IC50 of 0.40μM and 0.48μM,respectively,α-Mangostin was active against Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus（***） and Bacilus anthracis（***） with inhibition zone and MIC value of（19 mm;0.02S mg/mL） and（20 mm;0.013 mg/mL）,*** antioxidant assay,α-mangostin exhibited activity as an inhibitor of lipid ***:*** presenceα- andβ-mangostin and cycloart-24-en-3β-ol.β-Mangostin was found very active against ***-3 cells and *** results suggest that mangoslins derivatives have the potential to inhibit the growth of cancer cells by inducing *** addition,α-andβ-mangostin was found inhibit the growth of Cram-positive pathogenic bacteria and also showed the activity as an inhibitor of lipid peroxidation.

Investigation on Structure and Properties of Brass Casting

In this work,alpha(α)brass was poured in green sand mould and metallic chill mould at about 1050℃. Sand casting method and metallic chill casting method are representing the slow and fast cooling rates of the castings,*** slow cooling rate in the sand mould produces larger grains,while the metallic chill mould produces smaller grains in the *** the grain size decreases,the strength of the cast brass increases;micro-porosity in the casting decreases and the tendency for the casting to fracture during solidification ***,the faster cooling rate casting offers higher strength,density and hardness compared to the slow cooling rate casting.

Impact of coastal development on mangrove cover in Kilim river, Langkawi Island, Malaysia

We examined the impact of various coastal developments on mangrove cover along the Kilim River, Langkawi Island, Malaysia between 1996 and 2008. We analysed images from Systeme Probatoire d＇Observation de la Tarre （SPOT） of Kilim River using supervised classification and Principal Component Analysis （PCA）. Over 8% （176.83 ha] of mangrove cover was degraded along the Kilim River from its total area of 2153.07 ha during the past 14 years. We identified several causes of mangrove degradation, including mangrove clearing （38%）, mangrove conversion to commercial area （21%）, residential area （19%）, agriculture （12%）, aquaculture （12%） and wake current （6%）. Langkawi is one of the main tourism islands in Malaysia. Tthe pace of coastal development throughout the entire island including Kilim River had suppressed the mangroves propagation over the years. Long term monitoring of mangrove ecosystems is essentials to ensure the survival and sustainability of mangrove associated biodiversity.

Optical Code Generating Device Using 1×N Asymmetric Hollow Waveguide Couplers

An optical code generating device for security access system application is presented. The code generating device constructed using asymmetric hollow optical waveguide coupler design provides a unique series of output light intensities which are successively used as an optical code. The design of the waveguide is made using two major components which are asymmetric Y-junction splitter and a linear taper. Waveguiding is done using a hollow waveguide structure. Construction of higher level 1×N hollow waveguide coupler is done utilizing a basic 1×2 asymmetric waveguide coupler design together with a cascaded design scheme. Non-sequential ray tracing of the asymmetric hollow optical waveguide couplers is performed to predict the optical transmission properties of the waveguide. A representation of the code combination that can be generated from the device is obtained using combinatory number theory.
