In this paper, based on a class of multi-group epidemic models of SEIR type with bilinear incidences, we introduce a vaccination compartment, leading to multi-group SVEIR model. We establish that the global dynamics are completely determined by the basic reproduction number R0V which is defined by the spectral radius of the next generation matrix. Our proofs of global stability of the equilibria utilize a graph-theoretical approach to the method of Lyapunov functionals. Mathematical results suggest that vaccination is helpful for disease control by decreasing the basic reproduction number. However, there is a necessary condition for successful elimination of disease. If the time for the vaccines to obtain immunity or the possibility for them to be infected before acquiring immunity is neglected in each group, this condition will be satisfied and the disease can always be eradicated by suitable vaccination strategies. This may lead to over evaluation for the effect of vaccination.

Calcium-release-activated calcium(CARC)channels are one of the major pathways of calcium entry in non-excitable *** a decade or two of research,its regulatory mechanism is not yet thoroughly *** slow progress is due to the complexity of its pores(i.e.,Orai)on one hand and the difficulty in capturing its regulatory complex on the other *** a result,possible gating mechanisms have often been speculated by exploring the structure and properties of constitutive open ***,there is much debate about how they can truly reflect the gating of CRAC channels under physiological *** the present study,we combined molecular dynamics simulations with free energy calculations to study three dOrai mutants(G170P,H206A,and P288A),and further calculated their current-voltage *** show that these constructs adopt different approaches to maintain their conductive *** they have unique pore structures and distinctive rectification properties and ion selectivity for cations compared to wild-type *** conclude that although the mutants may partially capture the gating motion characteristics of wild-type pores,the information obtained from these mutants is likely not a true reflection of CRAC channel gating under physiological conditions.

Video-based action recognition is becoming a vital tool in clinical research and neuroscientific study for disorder detection and ***,action recognition currently used in non-human primate(NHP)research relies heavily on intense manual labor and lacks standardized *** this work,we established two standard benchmark datasets of NHPs in the laboratory:Monkeyin Lab(Mi L),which includes 13 categories of actions and postures,and MiL2D,which includes sequences of two-dimensional(2D)skeleton ***,based on recent methodological advances in deep learning and skeleton visualization,we introduced the Monkey Monitor Kit(Mon Kit)toolbox for automatic action recognition,posture estimation,and identification of fine motor activity in *** the datasets and Mon Kit,we evaluated the daily behaviors of wild-type cynomolgus monkeys within their home cages and experimental environments and compared these observations with the behaviors exhibited by cynomolgus monkeys possessing mutations in the MECP2 gene as a disease model of Rett syndrome(RTT).Mon Kit was used to assess motor function,stereotyped behaviors,and depressive phenotypes,with the outcomes compared with human manual *** Kit established consistent criteria for identifying behavior in NHPs with high accuracy and efficiency,thus providing a novel and comprehensive tool for assessing phenotypic behavior in monkeys.

This paper considers the combined effects of the nonlinear intra-specific regulation and maturation delays on the two-species competition model. Dynamical behaviors of the model are studied, and sharp global asymptotical stability criteria for the coexistence equilibrium as well as the excluding equilibria are established. It is shown that increase of the maturation delay of one species has negative effect on its permanence and a sufficiently large maturation delay will directly lead to its extinction, and that variation of the intra-specific regulation parameter of one species may change the surviving or extinction behaviors of its competitor.

We propose an extended packetization-aware mapping algorithm based on fountain codes to enhance video stream performance which is vulnerable to packet *** properly utilizing the proposed algorithm in finite-length cases,the edges connecting to a source symbol are scattered over multiple encoding packets so that the decoding probabilities are ***,an improved degree distribution is designed to obtain better decoding *** results,it is confirmed that the proposed algorithm in finite-length cases can augment decoding probabilities and the improved degree distribution can increase peak signal-to-noise ratio(PSNR) of scalable video coding(SVC) in a hostile communication environment.

In this paper, we study the kinematic mechanism and path planning for a two-caster nonholonomic vehicle (the Essboard) which is a recent variant of skateboard. Different from the most studied Snakeboard, the Essboard consists of a torsion bar and two platforms, each of which contains a pedal and a caster. We first investigate the relationship between the tilt angles of the pedals and the wheel directions of the casters. This relationship reveals how to control the wheel directions by adjusting the tilt angles. Next, the rotational radius of the Essboard is derived for a given pair of tilt angles of both pedals. The rotational radius of the Essboard is much different than that of the Snakeboard. Then we develop a path-planning algorithm for the Essboard to move from a start position to the goal, using a series of consecutively connected arcs, which are tangent to each other at the connected points. It is shown from a kinematic point of view that the path planning of the Essboard can be solved by a series of pairs of pedals' tilt angles. Three experiments are conducted to confirm the correctness of the main results. The results in this paper are a foundation for further study of the Essboard.

A phenoxazine based molecule termed SP has been synthesized and used as selective sensor for halogenated solvents. This molecule shows selective fast response towards halogenated solvent via naked-eye detectable chromism. SP shows colorless solution when dissolved in most solvents initially but changes to blue color in chloroform under UV irradiation(λ = 365 nm) within 5 s. The luminescence spectra of SP in halogenated solvent show a large bathochromic shift(> 100 nm) with 60-fold enhanced emission intensity compared to that in halogen-free solvents. It is also worth mentioning that the photoinduced reaction between SP molecule and the halogenated solvents occurred.
