Natural killer cell-triggered vascular transformation:maternal care before birth?

An improved knowledge-informed NSGA-II for multi-objective land allocation (MOLA)

Multi-objective land allocation(MOLA)can be regarded as a spatial optimization problem that allocates appropriate use to certain land units subjecting to multiple objectives and *** article develops an improved knowledge-informed non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II(NSGA-II)for solving the MOLA problem by integrating the patch-based,edge growing/decreasing,neighborhood,and constraint steering *** applying both the classical and the knowledge-informed NSGA-II to a simulated planning area of 30×30 grid,we find that:when compared to the classical NSGA-II,the knowledge-informed NSGA-II consistently produces solutions much closer to the true Pareto front within shorter computation time without sacrificing the solution diversity;the knowledge-informed NSGA-II is more effective and more efficient in encouraging compact land allocation;the solutions produced by the knowledge-informed have less scattered/isolated land units and provide a good compromise between construction sprawl and conservation land *** better performance proves that knowledge-informed NSGA-II is a more reasonable and desirable approach in the planning context.

Algorithm and experiments of six-dimensional force/torque dynamic measurements based on a Stewart platform

Stewart platform(SP) is a promising choice for large component alignment, and interactive force measurements are a novel and significant approach for high-precision assemblies. The designed position and orientation(P&O) adjusting platform, based on an SP for force/torquedriven(F/T-driven) alignment, can dynamically measure interactive forces. This paper presents an analytical algorithm of measuring six-dimensional F/T based on the screw theory for accurate determination of external forces during alignment. Dynamic gravity deviations were taken into consideration and a compensation model was developed. The P&O number was optimized as *** the specific appearance of repeated six-dimensional F/T measurements, an approximate cone shape was used for spatial precision analysis. The magnitudes and directions of measured F/Ts can be evaluated by a set of standards, in terms of accuracy and repeatability. Experiments were also performed using a known applied load, and the proposed analytical algorithm was able to accurately predict the F/T. A comparison between precision analysis experiments with or without assembly fixtures was performed. Experimental results show that the measurement accuracy varies under different P&O sets and higher loads lead to poorer accuracy of dynamic gravity compensation. In addition, the preferable operation range has been discussed for high-precision assemblies with smaller deviations.

The damaging effects of extreme weather is concerning for many countries across the *** the impact of these events on the housing market has been studied extensively,one aspect that remains unexplored is the value of ***,there is no clarity on the impact of the specific types of *** study analyzed mortgages and apartment values and included residential land sale prices over 16 years for different localities across *** analysis revealed that mortgages are adversely affected by excess rainfall while apartment sale prices are reduced by hurricanes but increased by excess ***,residential land prices remain unaffected by both *** results point to the importance of climate adaptation for the local real estate market and property investment.

AIM: To determine the vision-related quality-of-life of glaucoma patients and the association between clinical and socioeconomic factors, and vision-related ***: This was a cross-sectional study. Consecutive patients with glaucoma were interviewed using a modified 25-item National Eye Institute Visual Function Questionnaire(VFQ-25) by a single interviewer. Statistical analysis was done to find associations between patient variables and vision-related quality-of-life scores. Confidentiality and anonymity were ***: Ninety-six participants were recruited in the study. There were 44 males and the mean age for males and females was 65.7 and 69.5y, respectively. The mean composite score was 71.2(with a maximum possible score of 100), with the highest mean score in the colour vision subscale(89.8) and the lowest mean score in the driving subscale(34.0). Worse visual acuity(P<0.001), longer duration of glaucoma(P<0.001) and higher number of glaucoma medications(P<0.001) were associated with a worse composite score. Female participants and those who lived in urban areas had significantly better scores than male participants(P=0.002) and those who lived in rural areas(P=0.017), ***: The vision-related quality-of-life in Jamaican glaucoma patients is comparable to that of glaucoma patients in the Barbados Eye Study and other international studies using the VFQ-25 questionnaire. Worse quality-of-life scores are associated with poorer visual acuity, longer duration of glaucoma, more glaucoma medications, and sociodemographic factors such as male gender and rural residence.

The CXCR3alt-CXCL11 axis in bladder cancer: potential for prediction of neoadjuvant chemotherapy response

A comparison of centrifugation and tangential flow filtration for nanoparticle purification: A case study on acetalated dextran nanoparticles

Tangential fiow filtration (TFF) is a purification method commonly used in a multitude of fields,including particle ***,there is still a lack of comprehensive understanding of the effects of key TFF parameters on nanoparticle (NP) characteristics (purification outcomes).The present study aimed to investigate the influence of various factors on the characteristics of TFF-purified *** most commonly used NP purification method,centrifugation,was studied as a control.A design of experiment approach was implemented to investigate the influence of transmembrane pressure,flow rate,and initial drug loading on NP characteristics using paclitaxel as a model small *** the determination of optimized TFF parameters,the two purification methods were assessed using other model small molecules (*** and resveratrol).The results indicated that the TFF parameters and initial loading of the drug played important roles in the purified NP *** with the centrifugation method,TFF resulted in smaller NP with higher drug *** was able to circumvent issues associated with conventional centrifugation,while yielding similar results,and can potentially serve as a suitable large-scale purification method for polymeric NP.

Joint modeling of longitudinal proportional measurements and survival time with a cure fraction

In cancer clinical trials and other medical studies, both longitudinal measurements and data on a time to an event(survival time) are often collected from the same patients. Joint analyses of these data would improve the efficiency of the statistical inferences. We propose a new joint model for the longitudinal proportional measurements which are restricted in a finite interval and survival times with a potential cure fraction. A penalized joint likelihood is derived based on the Laplace approximation and a semiparametric procedure based on this likelihood is developed to estimate the parameters in the joint model. A simulation study is performed to evaluate the statistical properties of the proposed procedures. The proposed model is applied to data from a clinical trial on early breast cancer.

Improved Synergetic Current Control for Grid-connected Microgrids and Distributed Generation Systems

This paper presents the development of improved synergetic current control for the injected current of an inverter in the grid-connected microgrid and the distributed generation system(DGS). This paper introduces new formulas of the macro-variable functions for integral synergetic control(SC)and integral fast terminal SC, which both have an integral term to guarantee zero steady-state error. The proposed integral SC and integral fast terminal SC achieve a seamless performance such as the fast convergence, minimal overshoot, zero steady-state error, and chattering-free operation. To demonstrate the meritorious performance of the proposed scheme for injected current control, it is compared with the performance of a proportional-integral(PI) controller and advanced exponential sliding mode control(SMC). Finally, the practicality of the proposed scheme is justified by experimental results obtained through rapid control prototyping(RCP) using the dSPACESCALEXIO platform.
