In patients with Alzheimer’s disease,gamma-glutamyl transferase 5(GGT5)expression has been observed to be downregulated in cerebrovascular endothelial ***,the functional role of GGT5 in the development of Alzheimer’s disease remains *** study aimed to explore the effect of GGT5 on cognitive function and brain pathology in an APP/PS1 mouse model of Alzheimer’s disease,as well as the underlying *** observed a significant reduction in GGT5 expression in two in vitro models of Alzheimer’s disease(Aβ_(1-42)-treated hCMEC/D3 and bEnd.3 cells),as well as in the APP/PS1 mouse ***,injection of APP/PS1 mice with an adeno-associated virus encoding GGT5 enhanced hippocampal synaptic plasticity and mitigated cognitive ***,increasing GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells reduced levels of both soluble and insoluble amyloid-βin the brains of APP/PS1 *** effect may be attributable to inhibition of the expression ofβ-site APP cleaving enzyme 1,which is mediated by nuclear factor-kappa *** findings demonstrate that GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells is inversely associated with Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis,and that GGT5 upregulation mitigates cognitive deficits in APP/PS1 *** findings suggest that GGT5 expression in cerebrovascular endothelial cells is a potential therapeutic target and biomarker for Alzheimer’s disease.

Setosphaeria turcica(*** turcicum)is the pathogenic fungus of maize(Zea mays)that causes northern leaf blight,which is a major maize disease *** appressoria are highly specialized infection structures formed by germinated conidia of *** that infect maize *** appressorium penetrates the plant cuticle by generating turgor,and glycerol is known to be the main source of the ***,the infection position penetrated by the appressorium on maize leaves was investigated,most of the germinated conidia entered the leaf interior by directly penetrating the epidermal cells,and the appressorium structure was necessary for the infection,whether it occurred through epidermal cells or ***,to investigate the effects of key factors in the development of the appressorium,we studied the effects of three inhibitors,including a melanin inhibitor(tricyclazole,TCZ),a DNA replication inhibitor(hydroxyurea,HU),and an autophagy inhibitor(3-methyladenine,3-MA),on appressorium turgor and glycerol *** results,appressorium turgor pressure and glycerol concentration in the appressorium reached their highest levels at the mature stage of the appressorium under the control and inhibitor *** three inhibitors had the greatest effects on appressorium turgor pressure at this *** and liposomes are the main substances producing *** was also found inhibitors affected the distribution of glycogen and liposomes,which were detected in the conidia,the germ tube,and the appressorium during appressorium *** study provides profound insight into the relationship between appressorium turgor pressure and glycerol content,which was affected by the synthesis of melanin,DNA replication,and autophagy in the developing appressorium during a *** infection.

Genetic diversity and population structure of Commelina communis in China based on simple sequence repeat markers

Commelina communis（Asiatic dayflower） is a troublesome weed in China. Genetic variation of 46 C. communis populations from different collection sites in our country was investigated using 12 simple sequence repeat（SSR） primer pairs. Polymorphism analysis results showed high level of genetic diversity among these populations. The alleles（bands） were amplified by these primer pairs. The polymorphic proportion was 18.25%, and the average polymorphism information content was 0.1330. The highest effective number of alleles was 1.9915 at locus YP33, and the lowest value was 1.0000 at both loci YP25 and YP31. C. communis showed major average observed heterozygosity value（0.8655） than that of average expected heterozygosity（0.1330）. C. communis populations were divided into three groups on the basis of unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic mean cluster analysis（Dice genetic similarity coefficient=0.772） and genetic structure analysis（K=3）, and a principal coordinate analysis. The results of this study further illustrated that C. communis populations contained abundant genetic information, and the 12 SSR markers could detect the microsatellite loci of C. communis genomic DNA. These results might indicate that C. communis maintains high genetic diversity among different populations.

Dual role for the unfolded protein response in the ovary： adaption and apoptosis

The endoplasmic reticulum （ER） is the principal organelle responsible for several specific cellular functions including synthesis and folding of secretory or membrane proteins, lipid metabolism, and Ca^2＋ storage. Different physiological as well as pathological stress conditions can, however, perturb ER homeostasis, giving rise to an accumulation of unfolded or misfolded proteins in the ER lumen, a condition termed ER stress. To deal with an increased folding demand, cells activate the unfolded protein response （UPR）, which is initially protective but can become detrimental if ER stress is severe and prolonged. Accumulating evidence demonstrates a link between the UPR and ovarian development and function, including follicular growth and maturation, follicular atresia, and corpus luteum biogenesis. Additionally, ER stress and the UPR may also play an important role in the ovary under pathological conditions. Understanding the molecular mechanisms related to the dual role of unfolded protein response in the ovarian physiology and pathology may reveal the pathogenesis of some reproductive endocrine diseases and provide a new guidance to improve the assisted reproductive technology. Here we review the current literature and discuss concepts and progress in understanding the UPR, and we also analyze the role of ER stress and the UPR in the ovary.

Plastic waste and debris have caused substantial environmental pollution globally in the past decades,and they have been accumulated in hundreds of terrestrial and aquatic avian *** are susceptible and vulnerable to external environments;therefore,they could be used to estimate the negative effects of environmental *** this review,we summarize the effects of macroplastics,microplastics,and plastic-derived additives and plastic-absorbed chemicals on ***,macroplastics and microplastics accumulate in different tissues of various aquatic and terrestrial birds,suggesting that birds could suffer from the macroplastics and microplastics-associated contaminants in the aquatic and terrestrial ***,the detrimental effects of macroplastics and microplastics,and their derived additives and absorbed chemicals on the individual survival,growth and development,reproductive output,and physiology,are summarized in different birds,as well as the known toxicological mechanisms of plastics in laboratory model ***,we identify that human commensal birds,long-life-span birds,and model bird species could be utilized to different research objectives to evaluate plastic pollution burden and toxicological effects of chronic plastic exposure.

Chitooligosaccharide-zinc(COS·Zn)is a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-aging scavenger,whose anti-oxidative ability immensely exceeds vitamin ***,this study was aimed to investigate the protective effects of COS·Zn against premature ovarian failure(POF)and potential *** KM adult mice were divided into the following groups:a treatment group(150 mg·kg^(−1)·d^(−1) COS·Zn),a treatment group(300 mg·kg^(−1)·d^(−1) COS·Zn),a prevention group,two control groups and two CY/BUS ***·Zn(150,300 mg·kg^(−1)·d^(−1))and COS·Zn(300 mg·kg^(−1)·d^(−1))were therapeutically and preventatively administered to POF mice in the treatment and prevention studies,*** the groups were administered for 21 *** primary and secondary follicles were observed in the COS·Zn-treated groups(including the treatment and prevention groups)than those of the control ***,the ovarian index and the levels of FSH and LH notably increased in the treatment and prevention groups compared with those in the CY/BUS *** levels of MVH,OCT4 and PCNA in the treatment group(300·kg^(−1)·d^(−1) COS·Zn)and MVH in the prevention group remarkably increased compared with those in the CY/BUS ***,the levels of P53 and P16 protein were down-regulated in the treatment and prevention groups compared with those in the CY/BUS ***,the amounts of Sestrin2(SESN2)and SOD2 protein were obviously higher in the treatment group(150 mg·kg^(−1)·d^(−1) COS·Zn)than those in the CY/BUS ***,the amounts of NRF2 and SESN2 protein were up-regulated in the prevention ***,an increased GSH level was observed in the two treatment groups,compared with that in the CY/BUS groups,and the same trend was also present in the prevention *** together,COS·Zn improves the ovarian and follicular development through regulating the SESN2/NRF2 signaling *** results suggest the role of COS·Zn as a novel agent for the treatment and preventi
