Integrated multi-scale approach combining global homogenization and local refinement for multi-field analysis of high-temperature superconducting composite magnets

Second-generation high-temperature superconducting(HTS)conductors,specifically rare earth-barium-copper-oxide(REBcO)coated conductor(cc)tapes,are promising candidates for high-energy and high-field superconducting *** respect to epoxy-impregnated REBcO composite magnets that comprise multilayer components,the thermomechanical characteristics of each component differ considerably under extremely low temperatures and strong electromagnetic *** numerical models include homogenized orthotropic models,which simplify overall field calculation but miss detailed multi-physics aspects,and full refinement(FR)ones that are thorough but computationally ***,we propose an extended multi-scale approach for analyzing the multi-field characteristics of an epoxy-impregnated composite magnet assembled by HTS pancake *** approach combines a global homogenization(GH)scheme based on the homogenized electromagnetic T-A model,a method for solving Maxwell's equations for superconducting materials based on the current vector potential T and the magnetic field vector potential A,and a homogenized orthotropic thermoelastic model to assess the electromagnetic and thermoelastic properties at the macroscopic *** then identify“dangerous regions”at the macroscopic scale and obtain finer details using a local refinement(LR)scheme to capture the responses of each component material in the HTS composite tapes at the mesoscopic *** results of the present GH-LR multi-scale approach agree well with those of the FR scheme and the experimental data in the literature,indicating that the present approach is accurate and *** proposed GH-LR multi-scale approach can serve as a valuable tool for evaluating the risk of failure in large-scale HTS composite magnets.

Pd cluster decorated free standing flexible cathode for high performance Li-oxygen batteries

As a promising candidate for the next generation energy storage system,rechargeable lithium-oxygen batteries(LOBs)still face substantial challenges caused by insulating discharge products that preclude their practical *** highly efficient cathode catalysts capable of facilitating formation/decomposition of discharge products is considered as an essential approach towards high performance ***,Pd decorated Te nanowires(Pd@Te NWs)were synthesized as advanced catalyst in LOBs to maximize Pd utilization and achieve synergistic effect,in which Pd clusters were uniformly grown on Te substrate though regulating the Pd:Te ***,Pd@Te nanowires assembled into an interpenetrating network-like structure by vacuum filtration and employed as flexible cathode,enabling LOBs achieved an ultralong 190 cycles stability and a superior specific capacity of 3.35 mAh·cm^(-2).Experimental studies and density functional theory(DFT)calculations reveal the excellent catalytic ability of Pd@Te and synergistic catalytic mechanism of Pd and Te,in which uniform electron distribution,extensive electron exchange,and large adsorption distance between Pd cluster and discharge products promote homogeneous adsorption/desorption of discharge products,while the high adsorption energy of Te substrate for Li species reduces the initial dynamical energy barrier during discharging *** current work provides viable strategy to design composite catalysts for flexible cathode of LOBs with synergistic catalytic effects.

The Establishment and Analysis of the Structural-Electromagnetic coupling Model of the Electrostatically controlled Deployable Membrane Antenna

A new structural-electromagnetic coupling(SEc) analysis based on quadratic elements is proposed to solve the mismatch problem between structural elements and electromagnetic grids of the electrostatically controlled deployable membrane antenna(EcDMA). Firstly, the EcDMA reflector surface is meshed and redefined by a series of quadratic elements. Without grid transformation, the calculating formulas for the far-field pattern of EcDMA are derived by the physical-optics method. Then the structural deformation of EcDMA is analyzed and the far-field pattern calculating formulas including deformation errors are developed. Simulation and experiment results show that the quadratic elements are effective and efficient in SEc analysis of the EcDMA, moreover, the electromagnetic grid size demand and the grid discretization error are reduced greatly.

Soft magnetic composites(SMcs)are effective as magnetic powder cores in an *** to high saturation magnetization,large magnetocrystalline anisotropy and high operating frequency of M(metal)-RE(rear earth)soft magnetic composites,it is possible to miniaturize inductor cores by reducing total loss,especially eddy current loss and excess loss at high *** this article,the characteristics of ce_(2)Fe_(17)N_(3)/α-Fe(cFN/F)loss per volume and effective permeability reaching a high frequency of 3 MHz are *** biphase cFN/F composite exhibits a high permeability of 16 at 70 MHz,which is two times greater than that of pure ce_(2)Fe_(17)N_(3)(cFN)*** total loss is as low as 545 mW/cm^(3)at 3 MHz and 6 *** direct current(Dc)-bias properties have a percent of permeability exceeding 65% at H=7960 A/*** phenomenon indicates that our material has a higher working frequency and lower core loss than other materials;the biphase cFN/F structure is a promising and efficient approach for developing the miniaturized radio frequency(RF)inductor core.

In this study,we present a supramolecular templating approach for constructing polyimidazolium salt containing crown ether and cyclobutane *** strategy involves the formation of metal-carbene templates,photochemical cycloaddition,and subsequent demetallation of metal *** by the host-guest chemistry between crown ether units and ammonium salts,we successfully fabricated a supramolecular polymer SPN1,which features imidazolium receptors and cyclobutane *** obtained SPN1 demonstrates outstanding reversible stimulus-response,antibacterial behavior and conductivity.

Analytical modeling and approaches of multihelix cables incorporating with interwire mutual contacts

This study aims to develop an analytical model based on the curve beam theory to capture the mechanical response of a multihelix cable considering the internal contact ***,a double-helix cable subjected to axial tension and torsion is analyzed,and both the line and point contacts between the neighboring wires and strands are considered via an equivalent homogenized ***,the proposed theoretical model is extended to a hierarchical multihelix cable with mutual contact displacements by constructing a recursive relationship between the high-and low-level multihelix *** global tensile stiffness and torsional stiffness of the double-helix cable are successfully *** results are validated by a finite element(FE)model,and are found to be consistent with the findings of previous *** is shown that the contact deformations in multihelix cables significantly affect their equivalent mechanical stiffness,and the contact displacements are remarkably enhanced as the helix angles *** study provides insights into the interwire/interstrand mutual contact effects on global and local responses.

The lack of effective charge transfer driving force and channel limits the electron directional migration in nanoclusters(Nc)-based heterostructures,resulting in poor photocatalytic ***,a Z-scheme Nc-based heterojunction(Pt1Ag28-BTT/coP,BTT=1,3,5-benzenetrithiol)with strong internal electric field is constructed via interfacial co-S bond,which exhibits an absolutely superiority in photocatalytic performance with 24.89 mmol·h^(−1)·g−1 H_(2)production rate,25.77%apparent quantum yield at 420 nm,and~100%activity retention in stability,compared with Pt1Ag28-BDT/coP(BDT=1,3-benzenedithiol),Ag29-BDT/coP,and *** enhanced catalytic performance is contributed by the dual modulation strategy of inner core and outer shell of Nc,wherein,the center Pt single atom doping regulates the band structure of Nc to match well with coP,builds internal electric field,and then drives photogenerated electrons steering;the accurate surface S modification promotes the formation of co-S atomic-precise interface channel for further high-efficient Z-scheme charge directional *** work opens a new avenue for designing Nc-based heterojunction with matchable band structure and valid interfacial charge transfer.

Assessing the range of blasting-induced cracks in the surrounding rock of deeply buried tunnels based on the unified strength theory

Blasting-induced cracks in the rock surrounding deeply buried tunnels can result in water gushing and rock mass collapse,posing significant safety ***,previous theoretical studies on the range of blasting-induced cracks often ignore the impact of the in-situ stress,especially that of the intermediate principal *** particle displacement−crack radius relationship was established in this paper by utilizing the blasthole cavity expansion equation,and theoretical analytical formulas of the stress−displacement relationship and the crack radius were derived with unified strength theory to accurately assess the range of cracks in deep surrounding rock under a blasting *** analysis showed that the crushing zone size was positively correlated with in-situ stress,intermediate principal stress,and detonation pressure,whereas negatively correlated with Poisson ratio and decoupling *** dilatancy angle-crushing zone size relationship exhibited nonmonotonic *** relationships in the crushing zone and the fracture zone exhibited opposite trends under the influence of only in-situ stress or intermediate principal *** the in-situ stress increased from 0 to 70 MPa,the rate of change in the crack range and the attenuation rate of the peak vibration velocity gradually slowed.

A scalable one-pot strategy for the development of polymer electrolytes adaptable to room-temperature high-voltage lithium batteries

Poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO)polymer electrolytes(PEs)have been commercially applied in LiFePO_(4)||Li solid-state lithium batteries(SSLBs).However,it remains challenging to develop PEO-based PEs applicable to the high-voltage SSLBs with higher energy density,owing to the poor electrochemical stability of ***,we report a scalable strategy for fabricating PEO-based PEs with high-voltage compatibility,by exploiting a new mechanism to stabilize the cathode-electrolyte interface in the highvoltage *** protocol only involves a one-pot synthesis procedure to covalently crosslink the PEO chains,in the presence of high-content lithium bis(trifluoromethylsulphonyl)imide(LiTFSI)salts and N,N-dimethylformamide(DMF).LiTFSI-DMF supramolecular aggregates are formed and firmly embedded in the polymer network,endowing the PE with high room-temperature ionic *** dissociated and highly concentrated TFSI^-anions can enter the Helmholtz layer close to the high-voltage cathode,leading to the formation of a thin and homogeneous cathode electrolyte interface(cEI),mainly composed of LiF,on the *** cEI with high electrochemical stability can effectively stabilize the cathode-electrolyte interface,enabling long-term stable cycling of the high-voltage LicoO_(2)||Li and nickelrich NcM_(622)||Li batteries at room *** simplicity and scalability of the strategy makes the reported PEO-based PE potentially applicable in high-voltage SSLBs in practice.
