Background:Despite a growing population of patients starting hemodialysis in China,little is known about markers of mineral bone disease(MBD)and their *** present data on prevalence and correlates of hypocalcemia,hyperphosphatemia,and secondary hyperparathyroidism from the China Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study(DOPPS),with evaluation of whether these laboratory markers triggered changes in ***:We compared the frequency of measurement and prevalence of poor control of MBD markers in China DOPPS with other DOPPS *** also used generalized estimating equations to assess correlates of MBD markers,and separate models to assess predictors of vitamin D and phosphate binder prescriptions in the China ***:Severe hyperphosphatemia(>7 mg/dL)and secondary hyperparathyroidism(>600 pg/mL)were common(27%and 21%prevalence,respectively);both were measured infrequently(14.9%and 3.2%of patients received monthly measurements in China).Frequency of dialysis sessions was positively associated with hyperphosphatemia;presence of residual kidney function was negatively associated with both hyperphosphatemia and secondary *** measures indicating poor control of MBD were not associated with subsequent prescription of active vitamin D or phosphate ***:There are substantial opportunities for improvement and standardization of MBD management in *** of country-specific guidelines may yield realistic targets and standardization of medication use accounting for availability and cost.

Meiosis is pivotal for sexual reproduction and fertility. Meiotic programmed DNA double-strand breaks(DSBs) initiate homologous recombination, ensuring faithful chromosome segregation and generation of gametes. However, few studies have focused on meiotic DSB formation in human ***, we report four infertile siblings born to a consanguineous marriage, with three brothers suffering from non-obstructive azoospermia and one sister suffering from unexplained infertility with normal menstrual cycles and normal ovary sizes with follicular activity. An autosomal recessive mutation in TOP6BL was found co-segregating with infertility in this family. Investigation of one male patient revealed failure in programmed meiotic DSB formation and meiotic arrest prior to pachytene stage of prophase *** models carrying similar mutations to that in patients recapitulated the spermatogenic abnormalities of the patient. Pathogenicity of the mutation in the female patient was supported by observations in mice that meiotic programmed DSBs failed to form in mutant oocytes and oocyte maturation failure due to absence of meiotic recombination. Our study thus illustrates the phenotypical characteristics and the genotype-phenotype correlations of meiotic DSB formation failure in humans.

Identification of neurons responsible for feeding behavior in the Drosophila brain

Drosophila melanogaster feeds mainly on rotten fruits, which contain many kinds of sugar. Thus, the sense of sweet taste has evolved to serve as a dominant regulator and driver of feeding behavior. Although several sugar receptors have been described, it remains poorly understood how the sensory input is transformed into an appetitive behavior. Here, we used a neural silencing approach to screen brain circuits, and identified neurons labeled by three Gal4 lines that modulate Drosophila feeding behavior. These three Gal4 lines labeled neurons mainly in the suboesophageal ganglia （SOG）, which is considered to be the fly＇s pri- mary taste center. When we blocked the activity of these neurons, flies decreased their sugar consumption significantly. In contrast, activation of these neurons resulted in enhanced feeding behavior and increased food consumption not only towards sugar, but to an array of food sources. Moreover, upon neuronal activation, the flies demonstrated feeding behavior even in the absence of food, which suggests that neuronal activation can replace food as a stimulus for feeding behavior. These findings indicate that these Gal4-1abeled neurons, which function downstream of sensory neurons and regulate feeding behavior to- wards different food sources is necessary in Drosophila feeding control.

Exchange coupling between topological insulator and ferromagnetic insulator through proximity effect is strongly attractive for both fundamental physics and technological applications. Here we report a comprehensive investigation on the growth behaviors of prototype topological insulator Bi2Se3 thin film on a single-crystalline LaCoO3 thin film on SrTiO3 substrate, which is a strain-induced ferromagnetic insulator. Different from the growth on other substrates, the Bi2Se3 films with highest quality on LaCoO3 favor a relatively low substrate temperature during growth. As a result, an inverse dependence of carrier mobility with the substrate temperature is found. Moreover, the magnetoresistance and coherence length of weak antilocalization also have a similar inverse dependence with the substrate temperature, as revealed by the magnetotransport measurements. Our experiments elucidate the special behaviors in Bi2Se3/LaCoO3 heterostructures, which provide a good platform for exploring related novel quantum phenomena, and are inspiring for device applications.

Shape Model and Rotation Acceleration of(1685) Toro and(85989) 1999 JD6from Optical Observations

The Yarkovsky-O'Keefe-Radzievskii-Paddack(YORP) effect is a net torque caused by solar radiation directly reflected and thermally re-emitted from the surface of small asteroids and is considered to be crucial in their dynamical evolution. By long-term photometric observations of selected near-Earth asteroids, it is hoped to enlarge asteroid samples with a detected YORP effect to facilitate the development of a theoretical framework. Archived light-curve data are collected and photometric observations are made for(1685) Toro and(85989) 1999 JD6,which enables measurement of their YORP effect by inverting the light curve to fit observations from a convex shape model. For(1685) Toro, a YORP acceleration υ =(3.2 ± 0.3) × 10^(-9)rad · day^(-2)(1σ error) is updated,which is consistent with previous YORP detection based on different light-curve data;for(85989) 1999 JD6, it is determined that the sidereal period is 7.667 749 ± 0.000009 hr, the rotation pole direction is located atλ = 232° ± 2°, β =-59° ± 1°, the acceleration is detected to be υ =(2.4 ± 0.3) × 10^(-8)rad · day^(-2)(1σ error) and in addition to obtaining an excellent agreement between the observations and model. YORP should produce both spin-up and spin-down cases. However, including(85989) 1999 JD6, the dω/dt values of 11 near-Earth asteroids are positive totally, which suggests that there is either a bias in the sample of YORP detections or a real feature needs to be explained.

As an extensive study of Internet QoS, a framework for emerging Internet QoS strategies is presented. Integrated service (Intserv/RSVP), Differentiated service (Diffserv), MPLS, and QoS routing, are overviewed. The key issues and relationship of these QoS architectures are discussed. Some algorithms in IP QoS implementation and unsolved problems are also studied in this paper. Furthermore, a new strategies of incorporating Intserv with Diffserv to archive end-to-end QoS is proposed. It is also discussed why MPLS and QoS routing are introduced into this framework, how they differ from and relate to other schemes and where they fit into the Diffserv architecture. The timescales of different QoS strategies are also studied and some proposals for QoS routing deployment are given.

Aerosol absorption optical depth of fine-mode mineral dust in eastern China

The fine-mode aerosol absorption optical depth（AAOD）retrieved from the Aerosol Robotic Network（AERONET）has been used in previous studies to calculate the radiative forcing of black carbon（BC）aerosol,assuming that the absorption by fine-mode aerosols（diameter ≤ 1 μm）is primarily from BC while the absorption by larger particles（diameter 1 μm）is principally from *** the present study,the Community Earth System Model was used to simulate and quantify the contribution of fine-mode dust to fine-mode AAOD in eastern China（29–41°N,104–122°E）—an area where concentrations of BC are *** simulated fine-mode dust concentrations were constrained by observations from nine sites belonging to the Chinese Meteorological Administration Atmosphere Watch *** over eastern China,the simulated annual mean fine-mode dust AAOD was 3.6 × 10-3,with the maximum AAOD in spring and the minimum value in *** contribution of fine-mode dust to the total fine-mode AAOD（sum of fine-mode dust,BC,and organic carbon）in winter,spring,summer,and autumn was 3.4%,25.2%,12.5%,and 14.9%,respectively,with an annual mean value of 15.1%.The results indicate the importance of removing fine dust AAOD when the AERONET fine-mode AAOD is used for calculating the radiative forcing of BC in eastern China.
