Gelatinase A (MMP-2) is considered to play a critical role in cell migration and invasion. The proteinase is secreted from the cell as an inactive zymogen. In vivo it is postulated that activation of progelationase A (proMMP-2) takes place on the cell surface mediated by membrane-type matrix metalloproteinases (MT-MMPs). Recent studies have demonstrated that proMMP-2 is recruited to the cell surface by interacting with tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases-2 (TIMP-2) bound to MT1MMP by forming a ternary complex. bee MT1-MMP closely located to the ternary complex then activates proMMP-2 on the cell surface. MT1-MMP is found in cultured invasive cancer cells at the invadopodia. The MTMMP/TIMP-2/ MMP- 2 system t bus provides localized expression of proteolysis of the extracellular matrix required for cell migration.

Chitin synthase （CHS） is an important enzyme catalyzing the formation of chitin polymers in all chitin containing organisms and a potential target site for insect pest control. However, our understanding of biochemical properties of insect CHSs has been very limited. We here report enzymatic and inhibitory properties of CHS prepared from the African malaria mosquito, Anopheles gambiae. Our study, which represents the first time to use a nonradioactive method to assay CHS activity in an insect species, determined the optimal conditions for measuring the enzyme activity, including pH, temperature, and concentrations of the substrate uridine diphosphate N-acetyl-D-glucosamine （UDP- GlcNAc） and Mg＋＋. The optimal pH was about 6.5-7.0, and the highest activity was detected at temperatures between 37℃ and 44℃. Dithithreitol is required to prevent melanization of the enzyme extract. CHS activity was enhanced at low concentration of GIcNAc, but inhibited at high concentrations. Proteolytic activation of the activity is significant both in the 500×g supernatant and the 40 000×g pellet. Our study revealed only slight in vitro inhibition ofA. gambiae CHS activity by diflubenzuron and nikkomycin Z at the highest concentration （2.5μmol/L） examined. There was no in vitro inhibition by polyoxin D at any concentration examined. Furthermore, we did not observe any in vivo inhibition of CHS activity by any of these chemicals at any concentration examined. Our results suggest that the inhibition of chitin synthesis by these chemicals is not due to direct inhibition of CHS in A. gambiae.

Geosynthetics, factory-manufactured polymer materials, have been successfully used to solve many geotechnical problems in civil engineering. Two common applications are earth stabilization and erosion control. Geosynthetics used for earth stabilization include but are not limited to stabilized slopes, walls, embankments, and roads. Geosynthetics used for erosion control are mostly related to slopes, river channels and banks, and pond spillways. To enhance environmental sustainability, vegetation has been increasingly planted on the facing or surfaces of these earth structures. Under such a condition, geosynthetics mainly function as surficial soil stabilization while vegetation provides green appearance and erosion protection of earth surfaces. Recently, geosynthetic or geosynthetic-like material has been used to form green walls outside or inside buildings to enhance sustainability. Geosynthetics and vegetation are often integrated to provide combined benefits. The interaction between geosynthetics and vegetation is important for the sustainability of the earth and building wall surfaces. This paper provides a review of the current practice and research in the geosynthetic stabilization of vegetated earth and building surfaces for environmental sustainability in civil engineering with the emphases on geosynthetic used for erosion protection, geosynthetic-stabilized slopes, geosynthetic-stabilized unpaved shoulders and parking lots, and geosynthetic-stabilized vegetated building surfaces.

Adenocarcinoma of small intestines(SBA) is a relatively rare malignancy with poor outcomes due to delayed *** percent of patients have metastases on presentation and therefore early detection and treatment offers the best long term *** genetic polyposis syndromes and familial diseases are associatedwith increased risks for *** include familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP),Lynch syndromes(LS),Juvenile polyposis syndrome,Peutz-Jeghers syndrome,Crohn's disease(CD) and celiac *** in APC gene,Mismatch repair genes,STK11 gene,and SMAD4 gene have been implicated for the genetic diseases *** there are no specific inherited genetic mutations for CD,genome-wide association studies have established over 140 loci associated with *** island mutations with defects in mismatch repair genes have been identified in celiac *** diagnostic advances have occurred in the past decade and intuitively,it would seem beneficial to use these advanced modalities for surveillance of these *** present it is debatable and no clear data exists to support this approach except for established guidelines to diagnose duodenal polyps in FAP,and *** we discuss the genetic alterations,cancer risks,signaling mechanisms and briefly touch the surveillance modalities available for these genetic and clinical *** language articles from Pub Med/Medline and Embase was searched were collected using the phrases "small-bowel adenocarcinoma,genetics,surveillance,familial adenomatous polyposis,lynch syndromes,Peutz-Jeghers syndrome,juvenile polyposis syndrome,CD and celiac disease".Figures,tables and schematic diagram to illustrate pathways are included in the review.

Catalytic ignition refers to phenomenon where sufficient energy is released from a catalytic reaction to maintain further reaction without additional external heating. This phenomenon is important in the development of catalytic combustion and catalytic partial oxidation processes, both of which have received extensive attention in recent years. In addition, catalytic ignition studies provide experimental data which can be used to test theoretical hydrocarbon oxidation models. For these reasons, catalytic ignition has been frequently studied. This review summarizes the experimental methods used to study catalytic ignition of light hydrocarbons and describes the experimental and theoretical results obtained related to catalytic ignition. The role of catalyst metal, fuel and fuel concentration, and catalyst state in catalytic ignition are examined, and some conclusions are drawn on the mechanism of catalytic ignition.

In this paper, we simulate γ -ray energy deposition for different incident energies with four different mod-els using the tool GEANT4(Geant4.7.0, 2005)developed by CERN (the Center of European Research of Nucleus). The results we obtained indicate that there are different peak values for different incident energies. That is, we can differentiate the incident energy accurately if the detector can determine the peak value accurately. This is meaningful for the geometrical configuration of the detector to get the most probable distribution (MPD) of energy deposition for different incident energies. According to the simulation, we can insert certain slices with large absorption coefficient to obtain a better MPD of energy deposition which will not alter the shape of the energy deposition.

This paper presents the realization of two-way coupling of the unsaturated-saturated flow interactions of the SWAT2000 and MODFLOW96 models on the basis of the integrated surface/groundwater model SWATMOD99, and its application in Hetao Irrigation District （HID）, Inner Mongolia, China. Major revisions and enhancements were made to the SWAT2000 and MODFLOW models for simulating the detailed hydrologic budget and coupled unsaturated and saturated interactions, and irrigation canal hydrology for the HID. The simulation results of seasonal groundwater recharge to and evaporate from the shallow groundwater, and the annual water budget over the district are presented and discussed. The results implied the necessity of two-way coupling of the unsaturated-saturated interactions when groundwater is shallow, and the feasibility of making comprehensive use of the information coming from both the surface water and groundwater models to make a more physically-based assessment of the coupled interactions.

Mitogen-activated protein kinase-8-interacting protein 2(MAPK8IP2)is a scaffold protein that modulates MAPK signal *** MAPK pathways were heavily implicated in prostate cancer progression,the regulation of MAPK8IP2 expression in prostate cancer is not yet *** assessed MAPK8IP2 gene expression in prostate cancer related to disease progression and patient survival ***8IP2 expression was analyzed using multiple genome-wide gene expression datasets derived from The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)RNA-sequence project and complementary DNA(cDNA)*** Cox regressions and log-rank tests were used to analyze the overall survival outcome and progression-free ***8IP2 protein expression was evaluated using the immunohistochemistry *** quantitative PCR and Western blot methods analyzed androgen-stimulated MAPK8IP2 expression in LNCaP *** primary prostate cancer tissues,MAPK8IP2 mRNA expression levels were significantly higher than those in the case-matched benign prostatic *** MAPK8IP2 expression was strongly correlated with late tumor stages,lymph node invasion,residual tumors after surgery,higher Gleason scores,and preoperational serum prostate-specific antigen(PSA)***8IP2 upregulation was significantly associated with worse overall survival outcomes and progression-free *** castration-resistant prostate cancers,MAPK8IP2 expression strongly correlated with androgen receptor(AR)signaling *** cell culture-based experiments,MAPK8IP2 expression was stimulated by androgens in AR-positive prostate cancer ***,MAPK8IP2 expression was blocked by AR antagonists only in androgen-sensitive LNCaP but not castration-resistant C4-2B and 22RV1 *** results indicate that MAPK8IP2 is a robust prognostic factor and therapeutic biomarker for prostate *** potential role of MAPK8IP2 in the castration-resistant progression is under further investigation.
